I am an Archaeology graduate who spent many months of my life researching and writing an academic paper on the immense Cultural, Social, Spiritual, Archaeological, and Environmental values of this site, both since European colonisation, but more pertinently, the extremely significant ancient sites and artefacts which still remain that haven't been destroyed as yet (but will be obliterated if this development continues, as many have already been destoyed). These sites must be preserved, as they are intrinsically connected with the Yuggera people and their Ancestors, and are of utmost importance culturally and scientifically.

I am a local Yuggera First Natiosn woman and my people and descendants lived here many years the Mission was built.
Alot of artifact and traditional sites and a natural wildlife corridors for our animals being destroyed.
How can greedy developers and Native Title applicants approve this. This is greed and not our cultural ways.

I'm signing this because as a descendent of First nation custodians of this land and believe that the unmarked Graves that still remain in deebing creek should remain untouched and undisturbed as my ancestors lay rest there.
And I hope that everybody can respect that.
And on the other hand it would be like if I was to go and bulldoze the local cemetery and build a sports complex on it, which that would make no sense and be very disrespectful.

I’m signing this petition to save deebing creek, as it’s part of indigenous history and a resting sight.

I don’t see any of the governments or anyone else’s great grandparents graves being built on for profit. As it’s highly disrespectful and downright disgusting for someone to think it’s even okay to do so.

Please stand up for the ones that are in the unmarked graves and the history of indigenous people that have families still living there names..

Believe it or not we have laws to protect every Australian's right to access & enjoy our unique natural & cultural heritage. It's great when the competing interest groups, can tap into their inate decency and good sense, work together, and reach a "win-win" result.
Sadly, at Deebing Creek this isn't happening .
Instead, it's shaping up for a win-lose out-come, with the local indigenous folk, coming off second best.
The ethical and sound campaign, now being lead by Aunty Jill Davidson-Thompson and her supporters, will with the right support, move us closer the that win-win , we'd all like to see.

The land around Deebing Creek Mission is a special place, a sacred place for indigenous people, and a missed opportunity for Ipswich thanks to the Palaszczuk Government and Ipswich City Council.
