Wake Forest University COVID-19 Booster Mandate

I don’t believe in mandating vaccines and I believe in personal freedom to choose. I also don’t believe that these vaccines are medically sound enough to inject into our children. There is more harm coming from these vaccines than good!

The booster should be a personal decision. It's efficacy and safety are not 'settled science'.

Jeffrey Rehm (Commerce, 2022-01-12)

The booster is not recommended by the FDA for people in our age group (18-24) and bodily autonomy is an important right for which we need to fight right now

I am tired of Wake Forest treating us students like lab rats. I am also tired of Wake Forest discriminating against unvaccinated students on the basis of the religious and medical exemptions they submitted. If Wake Forest does not start treating their students humanely again, I will be transferring to another school.

My son, who is a freshman, had a reaction to the first vaccine. After being evaluated by his doctor and given an exemption it was denied by the School. He reluctantly received the 2nd shot and his symptoms have worsened. I am very concerned about him being forced to take the booster.

A number of studies are converging on the fact that 2 doses of vaccination has poor vaccine effectiveness against Omicron. 3 doses does slightly better, but the effect will rapidly wane as antibody titers fall, and infection is certain as the number of exposures increase. These studies have immediate implications for vaccine & health-care policies.

We cannot contain the viral spread of omicron by boosting.

Booster mandates make no sense for young people/ working people/ hospitals/ anywhere. Young people will only be, at best, slightly less likely to spread for a short period of time, but the epidemic waves will eventually over take them. Boosting should happen in populations where it further reduces severe disease and death— aka older & vulnerable people. Focus on that and let college kids off the hook.

I do not believe educational institutions should be requiring EUA vaccines or boosters due to their waning efficiency. Lack of long term testing make these vaccines a concern. Also, educational institutions should be allowing exemptions for natural immunity!

Nancy Norton (Portland, 2022-01-12)

I am horrified that the school is requiring the booster for the students. There is insufficient testing on this additional injection, so this should be a personal choice as to whether or not you think it is worth the long-term risks.

Medical treatments including vaccines must be a choice. Never mandate health treatments with a one size fits all. Never used the healthy youth to protect and Shield an older population.

The booster should be a personal decision.

In light of new evidence from the UK Health Security Agency COVID-19 vaccine surveillance report Week 42, all mandates should be stopped immediately. The UK Department of Health admits on page 23 that "N antibody levels appear to be lower in people who become infected after two doses of vaccination". It goes on to say that this drop in antibodies is essentially permanent. What does this mean? We know that vaccines do not prevent infection or transmission of the virus (indeed, the report elsewhere shows that vaccinated adults are now much more likely to be infected than unvaccinated ones). The British now find that the vaccine interferes with the body's ability to make antibodies after infection not only against the spike protein but also against other parts of the virus. In particular, vaccinated people do not appear to form antibodies against the nucleocapsid protein, the envelope of the virus, which is a crucial part of the response in unvaccinated people. In the long term, the vaccinated are far more susceptible to any mutations in the spike protein, even if they have already been infected and cured once or more. The unvaccinated, on the other hand, will gain lasting, if not permanent, immunity to all strains of the alleged virus after being naturally infected with it even once.

I’m signing because no one should be forced to get the Covid vaccine. If they’ve previously been vaccinated and have already gotten Covid then their antibodies should be sufficient enough.

Michelle Cannon (Fort worth , 2022-01-19)

College students should not be forced to get the Covid booster. It is not necessary, it is not beneficial, and it is potentially harmful in this age group. Please make the boosters voluntary.

Anne Hearn Bussian (Birmingham , 2022-01-19)

There is too much data saying boosters are not only unnecessary for people this age, but possibly dangerous. Where there is risk, there must be choice.

Kristen Miller (Jupiter, 2022-01-19)

I am signing because the mask, vaccine and booster mandates are ridiculous and not based on science and have been proven to actually cause more harm than good, Especially young adults in college that are healthy!!!

The Covid vaccine should NOT be mandated

As an educated MD, your demand of students to have an EUA shot which was not tested in accordance with FDA Guidelines, which now is not effective against variants of Sars-COVID-2, which has proven considerable adverse effects and no long term safety data for those under age 20, , and which does not stop infection or transmission is not lawful and will be challenged.

Avery Brinkley Jr MD (Panama City, 2022-01-20)

I'm signing because COVID-19 booster mandates are introduce unnecessary and unethical given what we know about COVID and young people.

This is wrong in so many ways! I lived this craziness in the 70’s and they want to go backwards instead of forward! We have come so far! God Bless u and God Bless Americans!

I believe in safe medical practice which is delivered to meet the need of the individual patient -not the masses. We live in a country where we have the ability to receive this safe care and should not allow anything less to be forced on us or our children.

Karen Johnson (Denver, 2022-01-22)

No one should be mandated to get a shot that is not approved and that has shown not to stop the transmission or protect you from Covid. It is still just under EAU. The Supreme Court ruled against the mandate.

There are many many reasons people choose not to wear a mask. The school should not get into policing each student's right to make their own choices for whatever reason they have.

Coercive policies that are not taking into account even the latest CDC data and established science around natural immunity are hurtful to our students, community, democracy and freedom.

I believe in freedom of choice! I believe in our students and faculty/staff having the right to decide on what they put in their bodies without having to give up all they have worked for! No More Mandates!
