I was once a member and having the kids club allowed me to work out and not feel the hassle of finding a sitter. My son even asked the other day if we could go to the gym that had the iPad/tablets and I knew exactly what he was talking about. It’s essential to be able to work on yourself and know that your kids are so close to you. There not many gyms that offer this and I don’t think FC should get rid of it.

I’m signing because parents need 1-2 hours to work on their self a day knowing they have childcare available.

This is very much needed necessity and benefits those single parents & couples who don’t have but a certain amount of time to spend at the gym. And, that’s before or after work.

Jairus Michael (CHARLOTTE, 2025-01-22)

Single parents need kids clubs in gyms to workout and still have their kids safe and taken care of if we can’t find a baby sitter or don’t have the funds to pay for a full time one. A lot of gym goers are parents, this option shouldn’t be taken away from us.

A lot of my fellow patrons count on the kids club not only for their daily need to stay active and healthy buts as well as their children having a comfortable safe place to interact with other kids whom they never would’ve had the pleasure of interacting with due to difference of areas they attend school.

Having/being apart of a Kids Club can is crucial to fostering healthy habits early on. It provides a safe and supportive environment for kids to develop physical strength, coordination and social skills. By offering fun, structured activities! I encourage kids to be in tune with their fitness and wellness at a young age. It also gives parents a convenient, trusted space for their children’s to engage with other kids in physical activity while they workout creating a family-friendly gym who accepts ALL.

I think it is a disservice to discontinue the kids club at the university city location. I know a lot of people who value having the club and I would highly recommend reconsidering this decision.

I'm signing this petition to help gym members, who are also parents, retain a daycare center for their kids at the gym. It's giving these parents a sense of security of having their kids under safe supervision while they are on their fitness journey.

I feel that Parents should have a place to keep their children safe, especially when it’s for a greater good of said parents. Health & fitness are very important to one’s mental and physical help. So fitness connection allow parents to keep their children in a place where they invest themselves not only emotionally, mentally, physically but of course financially via monthly or yearly subscription. Do the right thing and keep these families together, keep the day care open & keep that fitness connection. 💪🏾

Iam writing to express my deep concern regarding the decision to close the Kids Club at the University City facility. As a member, the availability of childcare has been invaluable in allowing me to prioritize my health and maintain a consistent workout routine. The Kids Club staff have always been incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional, making it a place I trust for my child.

The main reason I chose Fitness Connection was because of the convenience and quality of the Kids Club, which has enabled me to work out up to four times a week. Without this service, it would be incredibly difficult for me to continue my fitness journey.

I was truly saddened to learn about the closure of the Kids Club and would like to kindly request that you reconsider this decision. I am confident that alternative solutions exist that could allow the Kids Club to remain open, benefiting both parents and the community.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I sincerely hope that this matter can be revisited, and I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Patrina H

The kids club was important amenity to me because it was a connection/routine between my child and I, that helped create and support the foundational values of fitness/health. It allowed a child to see first hand a parent committing to a plan and bettering themselves, something that the world needs more off.

My mom was a single mom. Back in the day, I used to go to a gym daycare so she could take care of herself… so she could take care of me

That place is one of my earliest and now fondest memories as I’ve grown, had children of my own, and am able to understand what that place stood for. How much of a positive impact that had on my moms life, and thus mine

Please do not take this away

I’ve seen the impact of having a kids club at the gym. It really allows for parents to have peace of mind being in the same facility while they workout and their children are able to play and have fun. Without this amenity less people (parents) would join the gym, because there would be no place for their children to be while they workout.

The Kids Club has been an invaluable amenity for both me and my child. As a young mother, it allows me to maintain my daily workout routine while setting a positive example for my child. Fitness is a vital part of my life, inspired by the example my dad set for me. When parents stay active, children are more likely to adopt those behaviors and understand the value of physical activity from an early age.

This amenity distinguishes Fitness Connection from other gyms, which is why I joined back in 2016. Removing it would be a significant loss for the gym and for the families striving to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As a current employee and coach at Fitness Connection, I believe its absence would negatively impact our classes and paying clients, who rely on child care to attend my sessions.

Not only have existing members begun canceling their memberships, but potential new members may choose other gyms that offer similar amenities now that nothing will set up apart from other/newer gyms. This situation is disappointing for families and represents a missed opportunity for Fitness Connection.

Childcare availability in gyms is crucial for addressing the unique challenges faced by women in balancing fitness with caregiving responsibilities. Women are disproportionately more likely than men to be the primary caregivers for children, often bearing the brunt of household and family-related responsibilities. This disparity makes it significantly harder for women to prioritize their health and fitness, as they frequently have fewer opportunities for self-care.

For many women, the lack of accessible childcare creates a barrier to participating in activities like exercise, which is essential not only for physical health but also for mental well-being. Gyms that provide on-site childcare empower women by eliminating this obstacle, offering them a chance to focus on their health while knowing their children are safe and nearby.

Additionally, the availability of childcare in gyms fosters inclusivity and ensures that fitness is accessible to a broader audience, rather than excluding those who might otherwise be unable to attend due to caregiving responsibilities. By acknowledging and addressing this disparity, gyms can create environments that are truly supportive and equitable, enabling more women to engage in fitness and prioritize their health.

I am signing this because there are no other opportunities for kids to be safe and interact in Charlotte. The price is reasonable. The kids has bonded with the teachers. In reality, y’all will lose a lot of money and customers due to competition. What set Fitness Connection apart from other gyms is the quality of the equipment, having a safe place for the kids and hours. At least keep one location open and have the other teachers to transfer to that location so we will maximize the space of the kids club some more kids to be active at that location. Also if we maximize the time from 2 PM to eight or 9:00 PM then they will have over 50 kids a day. If you don’t want to lose long-term members, then I suggest still keeping the kids club open.

I'm signing because I have a daughter that goes to child care at Fitness connection University and she loves it along with the children she interacts with and the workers.
