Fr. Benny Flannagan to resign.
Fr. Benny Flannagan is the parish priest in Clostoken in Co. Galway.
It's come to light that Father Flanagan give a character testimonial in favour of a guilty pleading rapist so his sentence wouldn't be so severe.
Having some faith in the justice system I thought this character reference would've fallen on deaf years but now after 3 years of a 10 year sentence the guilty party is been released.
I feel father Flanagan should be forced stand down as a result of the shorter sentence as he played a hand in this.
This petition will be handed in to the office of the Bishop of Loughrea.
