A break is a break from hard work in lessons, so having a break on your phone for a short period of time is not a problem, if the ban goes ahead I do hope the teachers will follow to set example!

Teachers seem to have a power issue. Children should be allowed to do what they want in their break within reason.

Perhaps if this ban continues then the teachers should be banned as well. Not like they don't need to 'socialize'.

What the school is doing is wrong, they have no right to ban phones I don't mind the ban for in class but at times like brake and luch or in the morning is wrong no matter if there is a ban, I will use my phone to only contact people in an emergency, I am not going in student services and using there phone to listen in to my affairs

I am 12 years old.You are lucky you were allowed your phones out because at my school Rye College you are not allowed your phones out at all. If I did I would get it confiscated and get a detention.

I do feel strongly about this. My grand daughter will be starting at the school in September, and will be living with me. After my experiences with her aunt who also attended this school, I either take her and collect her daily or find another school that will allow her to retain her cell phone, which I regard as an important safety measure.

This phone ban is ridiculous, what harm is this going to do us by using our phones in break\lunch times. It annoys me that because of a minority of students That have miss used there mobile phones it has resulted in the whole school being banned from using them. I believe most students would agree that we wouldn't want to stand at student services talking to our parent/carer about issue that we may be having with friends or family issues that student services don't need to know about . Its all well and good saying that this is pathetic but we as students have a right and have a voice to be able to protest against what we feel is being unfair.

Students break times are their "free" time, and they should be allowed to use their mobile phones as they please. Scheduled learning does not take place during break times so this proposed ban is irrelevant and just spiteful on the head teachers parts. Comments regarding that the school is in charge of children is ridiculous, as they are only using their mobile phones to entertain themselves due to the lack of decent school facilities, or to enhance their social lives. Stop trying to control every last detail, it's not going to happen!

For those of you that don't know, this petition is gaining momentum! Not only has the amount of signatures doubled in one day, the press out now aware of this petition! For those of you that are not aware of this, this ban is the consequence of a small group of year ten individuals who have brought the consequences on the majority of the student body! As the voice of insanity, I am looking into these names so that we can know who did this!

Ok so let me get this right....
You have to turn your phones off at the start of school.... 8.40am
You can use them by going to the school office at break or lunch............ correct.... yes?
At the end of school 3.25pm you can turn them on again.
So, you can use your phones for the trip to school and home again.. correct... YES... NO safety issues there then!
reasons for needing phones all day (as stated on here) ... to talk to.... friends or family...!
Question..... are your friends not at school with you...? and your parents can phone the school on the ....LAND LINE, there is no need for an "instant reply", as in the words of some on here ...... Because You can't use them in lessons, so you wouldn't be able to answer ANYWAY
SO WHATS THE PROBLEM....

I agree to a point but not to the entire school grounds. No phones in the building but let them have them in the playground etc.
