There are other lines and stations that NEED to be reinstated in Yorkshire too. Malton to Pickering (Making easier access to Whitby) and a few stations on the Scarborough York line like Haxby. and to up grade that whole line to make it more attractive to come by train instead of car to Scarborough.

Closing this line was shocking even by Beeching standards - I was amazed the first time I visited York to find out how difficult it is to get from there to Beverley and Hull, only 35 miles away - had to make a very long bus journey. This idea will really benefit tourism, leisure, business and employment.

Thanks for taking time to sign the petition and to those of you that have forwarded the link to friends and family. We certainly agree with the need for other stations in East Yorkshire to be opened and we would hope that a re-opened Minsters line might one day serve Haxby.

The A1079 is one of the worst roads in the UK and when the rail line is re-laid and the rail fare is worked out so it is more economical to travel by train then not only will the traffic be reduced all along the route but you will also enlight in the centre of York. also people will find it more convenient for the East Coast line

Good luck with this campaign. It was a travesty that this line was ever closed in the first place.

This line should never have been closed

I am joint owner of a house in Stamford Bridge and feel that Dr Beeching should not have axed so many local raillinks especially as the public transport system to Stamford Bridge from York is limited by frequent disruptions.

As a one time resident of Cherry Burton, I have no doubt it that would be a success, especially given the runway sucess of recent re-openings.

Given the problems facing City of York, particualry in the amiunt of commuter traffic in the Eastern corridors this should be high on their strategic initiatives to improving transport

To get from Bridlington to York is a nightmare at the moment. You have to go out of your way to Seamer or Hull and change train. If this line was re-instated it would encourage a lot of commuters to use rail rather than car, easing congestion.

#19 Minster to minster rail link come on let's build it

2012-08-23 01:01

The millions all the governments have wasted on fraudulent benefit claims could have payed for this new rail link and many more like it years ago. I hope sustained support will eventually bring it to fruition and I'm glad we have a lord on board as this might move it on a lot quicker and bring on board more high profile public figures. I hope one day I will be able to travel on it all the best to its supporters
