I think that it's disgraceful that we will be unable to use the Smallmead Tip because you will not pay our dues with the money we pay you to do this.

I use the tip on a regular basis. I don't want to travel to Newbury to deposit household waste. I'm also concerned that if West Berks householders can't use the tip it will lead to a rise in fly-tipping

It's ridiculous to expect residents so near to The Tip to travel 30 miles to Newbury!!

Because the Smallmead tip is the closet to my home and the easiest to use. We pay WBC for rubbish disposal do why can't it pay the Reading council. Xx

I think it is ridiculous to make people travel huge distances to dispose of their rubbish. There will quite definately be a huge increase in fly tipping. What frustrates me the most is that we pay the same council tax as everybody living in Newbury yet all our local facilities are being taken away, first the office within sainsburys and now our ability to dispose of extra waste, 30 mile round trip to newbury should we need to visit the office or dispose or rubbish is unacceptable. Why should we have to pay the same as local people with local facilities. Will we get a council tax discount discount to reflect our lack of local services..... will we hell!

Please re-consider. You can't calculate the cost of fly tipping in the countryside, only the cost of clearing it up.

We live less than five minutes away and it is ridiculous the way the councils split Reading. We do not feel the benefits of Newbury based initiatives and regularly use the recycling plant.

1. Increased travel to tip
2. Potential for fly tipping to increase
3. Reduced recycling as waste that would normally be recycled at Smallmead will go into the black bins

We are already in Band E paying a huge amount of council tax

Why should we not be able to use this as we live in reading but under wbc

It is vital west Berks residents are allowed tu use the smallness refuse tip

Fly tipping already started, sulham woods, Dee road area. It'll get worse. WBC seem to forget all about people in tilehurst and on their outer boundaries. Our roads are awful and FULL of potholes, costs a fortune to keep car tracking done! They do not however have a problem with collecting council tax from us!!!!

Apparently there was a consultation by WBC about this issue. I live in Tilehurst, when and how was this consultation carried out because the first I had heard of it was on this forum today. It's ridiculous that residents of Reading (that are not part of RBC, another bizzare issue) have to travel a not inconsiderable distance to dispose of rubbish now

This decision was taken without providing an alternative for the people of Reading who fall on the wrong side of the West Berks border. My postal address says Reading, I want to use my towns facilities.

This is a totally unnecessary and arbitrary rule. We live in Tilehurst, the residents in the next road along can use smallmead but we will have to travel 30 miles to Newbury in future to dispose of rubbish. I'm concerned this will lead to fly tipping and in the long run will cost us all more money for cleaning up the mess of this ridiculous boundary rule! Use common sense west Berks!!!!

I live in a country lane, the perfect place to fly tip. Please allow Mortimer residents to use the Smallmead tip. I could pay and extra £5 to £10 a year for it.

forcing people to drive more than twice as far for this service when we are trying to reduce the impact on the environment is madness.

I want to use the small mead tip and not have to travel al the way to Newbury. I believe this decision will lead to more fly tipping on our country roads and fields.

Because I use this facility on a regular basis & think it's unacceptable to have to drive a significant distance to dispose of larger waste products. Fly tipping around the beautiful countryside will surely increase & cost WBC considerable amounts from already depleted budgets

Because it is the nearest centre to me. Whilst I could use other facilities it will be further away, cost more fuel etc. I think it will encourage more fly tipping in my area.

I believe we are already beginning to see an increase in fly tipping in the area. this will only get worse.

Because it is a ridiculous decision that residents of Reading will have to drive to Newbury to get rid of their rubbish when there is a 1st class service in Reading..

Reading smallmead refuge tip is 3.5 miles from my home! Newbury refuge tip is 17 miles from my home! That's why I sighed this petition!

This decision by West Berks will result in more fly tipping, maybe the people of West ️x Berks should have been consulted, many do not even know about this!!
