The old cinema is a building of architectural importance and should receive listed status. So much of Hornchurch is losing it's landmark buildings or park spaces in lieu of flats / housing we do not want.

I have signed this petition because we can leave nothing to chance when it comes to standing for our beliefs and passions, whether it be a cause, an individual or a building. This beautiful 1930's building has graced Hornchurch High Street for eighty odd years and it doesn't have a voice it's a building so we have petitions like this. This example of 1930's Architecture is slowly disappearing from our towns and cities and if we don't make a stand what will our children or grandchildren have that will link them to the past, architecturally speaking. Surely this building deserves rescuing from speculative developers who would build something in it's place only for that to be demolished in 20 years maybe less because it will have no architectural value unlike the existing beautiful building. This building was designed by the well known Architects of the time Kemp and Tasker who have already been acknowledged for their work. They have 3 Grade 11 buildings listed to their name.

Because I agree in what it wants to do.

It's an interesting building with the original Towers sign displayed. It may be too late to save it as a Bingo Hall but please keep the facade of the building

Such a landmark in Hornchurch. My dad who would now be in his eighties if he was still alive recounted stories to us about this building when he was a little boy.

Because I think this is a beautiful building & should be listed. Not turned into a Lidl. We have enough poor quality architecture already in Hornchurch.

People of Hornchurch and surrounding areas use this bingo hall, not only for bingo, but as a social club. For some, it is the only "family" they have! The building itself has historical significance, and should not be demolished to make way for some new-build monstrosity. So many of our historic buildings have disappeared over recent years, please don't let this be another one.

It is abhorrent that yet another wonderful building is demolished ... and for a Lidl supermarket which Hornchurch does not need.

Once this beautiful old building is knocked down, for yet another boring supermarket, we will never get it back

The Towers is a iconic building in hornchurch and should not be lost to a supermarket. Take a look a the troxy to see what could be achieved.

So many former cinemas have been demolished in the past and continue to be demolished even now.English Heritage say with regard to most former cinemas that have ended up being demolished, that there was nothing much left of the original interior. This is not the case with Hornchurch. All of the interior remains intact. No alterations have been carried out such as sub-division,false ceiling added or stairs put in leading to the balcony. This building should be listed.Once its gone its gone forever. The building could easily be converted for store use,it does not have to be demolished.Tesco's in Greenford London and Tesco in Colier Row nearby are examples.

#14: -  We have lost too many historic building under the protection of Havering Council, one of the best was the Kings Head that had its historic heart torn out by Presso's all that is left is the facade, No that will not do for the Towers ,Hornchurch expects the entire building saved. If we loose it we should boycott Lidl's
