Stop reckless speeding on Albrecht Street

A call to all Dan Pienaar residents

Please can you support this petition to the Mangaung Municipality and those we voted for to grow, protect and support our Ward.

For the past few years the traffic on Albrecht Street, Dan Pienaar has been on the increase. Unfortunately a number of road users ignore South African traffic laws and drive at an unsafe speed for a suburban area and around schools.

Today, the 18th of October 2016, there was a horrendous accident. It did appear that excessive speed could have been a factor (to be confirmed by a professional). 

What if your child was hit while walking home? 

What if your husband or wife died returning from work?

We appeal to those responsible for the roads in our area to undertake the appropriate investigation and put in place a plan to reduce speed on Albrecht Street. The signs and road traffic rules seem not to be an effective measure.

The introduction of speed reducing bumps and barriers could save lives and free up the time of our vital emergency services. The reducing of speeds will also enable those living on the side streets to access Albrecht Street in a safer fashion and reduce the chance of collisions during rush hours.

Speed kills. If we do not raise the issue and the municipality does not address the matter,  the blood is on our hands just as much as on those who drive recklessly.
