Laity Against Locking Down in Indiana

I think in these times that we're facing with God is the one we should all turn to and be going to church and going to church more often and praying more often it's ridiculous that you could get locked out of church.

BRIAN THIEME (Lafayette, 2020-12-14)

These continual lockdowns and dispensations from Mass are causing even more Catholics to leave the Faith. Not to mention sticking your hand through the "drive through" to recieve the Eucharist. The Faith is in trouble and the Bishops and clergy do not care.

Roseanna Hatke (Lafayette, 2020-12-14)

We need the Sacraments in these times!!!

Jamie Underhill (Greenwood, 2020-12-14)

I believe that the Sacraments, and spiritual health is more important than physical health.

I love God I love my faith being with Jesus gives me Faith and Hope. The sacraments strength we when I’m weak..
Please do not lock us out of the part of our lives that strengthens on in this Journey we are on..

Bob and Shirley Schwartz (Batesville Indiana, 2020-12-15)

Please also lift the current restrictions on Mass attendance and mask rules. We shouldn't have to get reservations for Mass, and to cover the image of God on our faces is nothing short of demonic. Especially since no mask available to the public is effective against a virus.

Dana Lashley (Indianapolis, 2020-12-15)

I want to return to Mass and receive Jesus
I miss the Eucharist!!!!

The church should not close in fear of anything. The government should not be allowed to close churches under the guise of safety.

Shelly Preston (Carmel, 2020-12-15)

#28

Practicing my faith is essential to my life just as obtaining food and medicine. America was founded on religious liberty. Individual rights and responsibilities are being eroded in the name of safety. The government should not impede my ability to live and practice my faith. If I can be “trusted” to go to the grocery store, I can go to my church. Please protect our First Amendment Rights.
If we are willing to give up liberty for safety, we soon shall have neither. - (paraphrase) Benjamin Franklin

I am signing because if ever we needed the graces and sacraments from our Lord is now. Stand strong and help us ALL fight this evil that has taken so many jobs, businesses, faithful and lives away in this country and around the world. Bishops, please hear the pleas of the faithful and stand with us in unity so as to not lose anymore souls to the evil within our church as well

Aurora Hillman (Frankfort, 2020-12-16)

We must celebrate the Mass and receive the Sacraments. I believe what we say- ‘but only say the word and I shall be healed’. The Mass gives us the strength and graces to bring Jesus to others.
It seems the hierarchy is cowering in fear and political correctness instead of being Apostles and carrying Christ’s message in the midst of this darkness. We should be insisting that the ill have access to the Sacraments, and no one dies alone and without having access to the the Anointing of the Sick.
Very disappointed in the USCCB, seems tone deaf to many other issues as well.

#43

I do not agree with locking down our churches.

Claire Daily (Lafayette, 2020-12-16)

#46

I am signing because I have LONG believed that we are leaning more towards fear than prudence. This is a time when we should have been leading with a strong and bold faith . Today I am reading Acts 8 : 4 -13 . This is what we should be doing not cowering and kowtowing to a secular fear mongering. We are called to let our light shine not hide it under a basket . How can we claim to know , worship , love and follow and be the true Church Christ Founded when we don’t act like it?

Religious Freedom! No Lockdown!!!!!

Abbie Rankin (Delphi, 2020-12-19)

#74

I'm signing this because it is clearly necessary to protect our treasured 1st Amendment right of freedom of religion against the increasingly hostile secular culture now installed in all levels of our government that clearly is working overtime to cancel this precious freedom and destroy all memory of Judeo Christian principles. We need you to be strong for us, and we will back you all the way in prayer and in public ralllies.

PATRICIA WACHTEL (Indianapolis, 2020-12-21)

I’m signing because as Catholics we believe in God’s providence and we are not afraid of death! Let us support truth and NOT fall to the ways of the World! Jesus has come to let us not fear, He has overcome the World!!!

Helen Kowalsky (Noblesville, 2020-12-27)

Keep the churches open. Closing churches is the work of the devil. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Don't be cowardly. " Where two or three are gathered, there I am in the midst of them." -- J.C. St. Paul: "Do not neglect the assembling of yourselves together." Quite being afraid of lawsuits and the world. Let the people worship God in church

We are losing the young adults.

Lisa Castleman (New Haven, 2020-12-27)

We never should have closed the churches. in closing them, we showed everyone that we actually doubt His Word, by trusting man's view, now we have generations not realizing that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. now they just learned fear and paranoia, and the Bible is just a storybook. We must believe His truth.

Virginia Kopach (GREENWOOD, 2020-12-27)

Celebrating the Holy Mass and receiving the Sacraments are the most important part of my family members lives. Please do not shut down the Mass!

My son has sensory seeking disorder. Anything that touches his face causes him to gag and vomit. He goes to therapy twice a week to address this. I can't fathom how in the heck the church can be so non-compliant to ADA standards. We haven't been to church since mask mandates. My children have gone almost a year completely devoid of mass. How is this going to effect the future church when so many of our children have been denied access? Do you believe you will have a strong group of faithful in twenty years when they didn't grow up IN the church? No. You are sacrificing the fear and comfort of adults today at the sake of children and your future church tomorrow, how shameful. Jesus demonstrated how pandemics did not interfere with is work by mingling with the lepers. I have no idea how church guidelines have become so derailed. But sure, pat yourselves on the back and pretend your parishioners agree with your decisions (we don't).

We need the "source and summit" of the Christian life. Please do not deprive us again.

Annie Byers Family (Shelbyville, 2020-12-27)

I STRONGLY need to be able to go to church and so do my family and friends

Christine P (Lafayette, 2020-12-27)

#106

Keeping us from the sacraments, especially Confession makes no sense on the spiritual level. The spiritual well being of your flock is the highest priority-- more important than the physical. We will all die eventually. Our spiritual well-being determines where we will spend ETERNITY!

Katie Schafer (Lafayette, 2020-12-27)

#109

I don't believe that the government haa the right to close any church or limit the attendance of laity to attend church services. The job of bishops and priests to do save souls at whatever the cost, to never turn anyone away from Mass.
We can't allow the government to interfere with the church and the law of God.

David Cox (Indianapolis, 2020-12-30)

#112

We need to get back to church, Mass, the sacraments and God's house. Hurry up, Bishops!!! God is watching you.

Barbara Ettner (Kilmarnock, 2020-12-31)

Please leave the churches open. We need the sacraments at all times and in all occasions.
I believe the government does have the right

This matters so much to me and my family. Please keep us able to receive the sacraments and be nourished spiritually.

We need Jesus, we should never be denied Jesus. It is your main job and vocation to bring Jesus to the Laity, please do not turn away from this sacred duty.

Katie Warrenburg (Avon, 2021-01-06)

#125

I think, the bishops should go much further and in the name of the right to our free exercise of religion, which is codified in the First Amendment but precedes it, disregard other restrictions, as well. Such restrictions are (a) having to wear masks, (b) being required to receive the Holy Eucharist in the hand, and (c) prohibited from singing during worship.

Dominik Hoffmann (Fishers, 2021-01-07)

#129

No one has the authority to deny sacraments. And sacraments are between you and God; having no barrier. Open our Churches without restrictions. The Lord needs to hear us sing and praise him loudly!

Your Excellency, dear Archbishop, I urge and plead with you to listen to your children and provide for our spiritual needs regardless of any material or peer pressure. The body is temporary but our souls eternal. If you do not feed us, who will? Please do not abandon us. We beg you.
We love you, dearest shepherd. We pray for you and trust Our Lord to protect you and bless you! Please pray for us and give us the Sacraments in our great time of need. Our Church is our refuge in the storm and Our Lord is with us in the ark/boat. There is nothing to fear. Please do not have a spirit of fear, for fear is not from God. We pray you are covered in Our Lord’s Sacred Heart and under Our Lady’s mantle of protection. Please feed us dear Shepherds! We need you. We are counting on you!
