Financial Support for Temporary Visa Holders in Australia - COVID 19

I’m an American citizen married to an Australian. I’ve witnessed the struggle that even citizens from other westernized and/or English speaking countries face when they immigrate to Australia. The difficulty of being away from home is multi faceted, complex, and not apparent to those surrounded by their families and support networks. Also immigrants that are struggling negatively impact the community as a whole and need to be cared for as if they are a “native”.

I'm signing because I see the struggle of students, working holiday visa holders, sponsored hard workers to pay for their bills after losing their jobs. These people invest tons of money every year to come to Australia, paying for their visas, schools, accommodation, taxes. They help the Australian economy to grow significantly. Now it is time to help them as well. Australia will need them after the crisis as well.

I only moved to Australia about 2 months ago and I am unemployed. There is no chance of Been able to get a job which is very worrying. I cannot get home to Ireland due to flight cancellations so I feel a bit stranded and no support isn’t helping the matter.

Student visa holders are paying the same taxes than Australian citizens, then now I think it would be fair to have the same financial assistance than everyone else.

I’m on Temporary Graduate Visa (485). Getting 15 hrs work weekly and probably gonna stand off in few days. I paid $70,000 in tuition fees and spent $100,000 in living expenses. Paid taxes and abide law. Now it’s government’s responsibility to look after us in these hard times.

There are countless people that have been made redundant and are struggling to pay their rent as a result. We want to stay here in Australia and ride this horrendous wave out with everybody, and hopefully return to working as soon as the pandemic is over. However the uncertainty of how long this is going to last is terrifying to everybody, and many people are already feeling the economic effects. Receiving a small bit of financial aid from the government will allow us to see this pandemic out with our communities, and return to providing the vital role WHV holders provide to the Australian community as a whole once this is over. We as a minority in Australia completely understand how unprecedented this whole situation is, and that times are extremely tough for everybody, but please please consider us for this relief so we can all get through this together. Thanks you.

As all families round the word my family have been affected financially. I have zero conditions to pay rent and pay for food, also my school fees. I have contributed so much for Australia while living here and, I hope the government take measures to help the international students as well.

I don’t know what to say because the place I worked “ Betty’s Burger Central “ closed without further notice. I thought Centrelink also applied for people like me. Now, I am waiting for virus to go away from Australia and Earth in order to achieve my dream, income, life which I love to have within me.
I always agree with either government or politicians but this time I am not agreed with Shit virus because I never did anything wrong to it (virus) in my entire life, why do you want to kill me and my dream.
Let’s support Australian Government in order to keep Australia safe from shit virus.

Let’s live our life with purpose not just with virus 🥰
