#1001

I strongly believe we need to keep cash alive , for choice and privacy.

Deeanne Hall (Cairns , 2023-03-13)

#1002

I want to use cash where ever I can and it is legal tender. The hide of people to tell me I can't choose how I pay is unbelievable. Very angry about this stupid decision.

Wendy Greacen (Cairns, 2023-03-13)

#1003

I'm signing because cash should be accepted for smaller amounts, especially for services like the Cairns Regional Library

Anne Moore (Port Douglas, 2023-03-13)

#1004

Cash is king

Jean Whittaker (Trinity Beach , 2023-03-13)

#1005

Cash is a legal form of tender. I disagree with moving to a cashless society, it will never work.

Jo Howis (Gordonvale , 2023-03-13)

#1009

We should not get rid of cash. It is legal currency and should be accepted everywhere.

Bruce McGregor (Townsville, 2023-03-14)

#1010

I wish for cash to remain as a payment option.

Hayley-jo Budgen (Cairns, 2023-03-14)

#1011

When the power goes out you need cash ,
When you pay in cash there no fees ,
Cards are to easily stolen and your bank balances can be destroyed, most cards you can use under $100 with no pin .

Marcus Anderson (Mossman, 2023-03-14)

#1012

I don’t believe in or trust a cashless society.

Kerry Budgen (Wangetti , 2023-03-14)

#1014

It's the right thing to do

Uriah David (Cairns , 2023-03-14)

#1015

We need cash!! Cyclones, no power for days/weeks. Computers won't work then will they!! Keep cash alive for markets, buskers and such.

Glenda Jumelet (RAVENSHOE, 2023-03-14)

#1017

I disagree with a cashless society

Gregory Kruckow (East Russell, 2023-03-14)

#1018

I'm signing because cash is Australian Legal Tender and I don't recall being asked, as a Rate payer, whether I wanted to go cashless!

Trish Kruckow (East Russell, 2023-03-14)

#1022

The erosion of the use of cash has far reaching implication for the good of citizens. Council needs to be more transparent and kids need to be able to access the library. There should have been more consultation of the public on this issue, since councils are there to serve the needs of the community.

Alan Corne (Ravenshoe, 2023-03-14)

#1025

Cash is a legal form of payment and I don’t believe that our community should be denied the right to use it

Sherrilea Smith (Yorkeys Knob, 2023-03-14)

#1028

I object to the NO CASH-policy.
Bureaucrats are not elected and do not reflect the voice of the people.
Keep cash alive!

Hannah Wattel (Kuranda, 2023-03-14)

#1031

Without cash we will soon be living in a digital prison.
Use it or lose it.

Nathan Sutherland (Cairns, 2023-03-14)

#1032

It's our right to make a choice

Deb ELDEMIRE (Redlynch , 2023-03-14)

#1034

I have no interest in allowing our country to become part of the NWO, government control, a system like the social credit system in China. Anyone pushing the people to socialism should be charged as traitors.

Elizabeth Butler (Ravenshoe, 2023-03-14)

#1038

Cash is a legal tender as per our constitution and I have no wish to be monitored with every thing I buy. It is also unreasonable considering if the internet or power goes down we are totally restricted. Also the effect on children with pocket money, tooth fairy and cash gifts is unfair. They learn the value of money this way. I don’t trust the government to not track us this way, to block funds as punishment or the stability of banks in these hard economic times. I am totally against digital currency and the lack of option for free trade

Carol Byfield (Cairns , 2023-03-14)

#1040

Forcing people to pay by credit/debit card is discriminatory. Cash is legal tender and therefore should be accepted. There are many problems with debit cards, not the least of which the Abuse of the Data Retention Act and the encroaching Surveillance State. Debit card accounts can be hacked and are being hacked regularly. If the motive behind debit cards is not Social Control why can't people buy and use them anonymously the same way they can use cash anonymously?

Geoff Holland (Gimuy Cairns, 2023-03-14)

#1041

I want to pay by cash

John Burr (Cairns, 2023-03-14)

#1048

I do not agree with changing everything to digital, only the bank's win, and I'm sick of them winning and small business missing out.

Joel Steer (Machans beach, 2023-03-14)

#1049

I don't agree in a cashless society

Julie Ryan (Cairns, 2023-03-15)

#1051

As a regional community, businesses
Depend on cash. It is still a legal tender and our council has not right to suddenly make all amenities within our community cashless.

Keesha Mclean (Kewarra Beach, 2023-03-15)

#1052

Cash is legal tender and should be accepted by all businesses at all times.

Louise Terzi (Atherton , 2023-03-15)

#1054

I feel that I should have a choice in regards to the form of payment I use. I prefer cash as it keeps me accountable for what's in my bank account.

Kylie Maher (Cairns, 2023-03-15)

#1055

Cash, in particular coins are legal tender and need to be accepted. We should be able to use cash if we want to!

gary solomon (Cairns, 2023-03-15)

#1057

Cash money should never be declined as a form of legal tender when paying council parking fines. Water rates or council housing rates. Or any form of
Permit or any applications that attack
fee.
Council is practicing discrimination by not accepting the national legal tender of this nation.

George Bransford (Cairns , 2023-03-15)

#1059

Cash is still legal tender and no one should make a rule where you can’t use it.

Linda Pennington (Machans Beach, 2023-03-15)

#1060

The right of choice. Cash is legal tender and must be accepted.

Philip Page (Holloways Beach, 2023-03-15)

#1063

We need to keep cash alive. Please don't destroy Australia. Don't help the Bill Gates monsters of the world.

Tanya Fisher (Palm Cove, 2023-03-15)

#1065

I believe you are taking peoples jobs by being cashless when times are already tough…maybe for something different ask the public their opinion!!

Romana Heddles (Kanimbla, 2023-03-15)

#1066

I feel more secure using cash. I like to know exactly what is in my wallet before and after I pay for something. Call me old and behind the times but it’s my preference.

Cyndie Ohri (Machans beach, 2023-03-15)

Brett Hitchens (Machans Beach, 2023-03-15)

#1069

Cash is very important tender to have. Cash is king and still need our cash.

Amanda Lando (Burdekin, 2023-03-15)

#1070

I'm signing because I believe that everyone entitled to use cash if they want to and it is still legal tender so it should be accepted everywhere.

Janelle Campbell (Innisfail , 2023-03-15)

#1071

Keep cash. Cash is still legal tender & Cairns council has no right to effectively ban cash payments.

Anne Hilberts (Cooranbong , 2023-03-15)

#1074

I don’t agree with the cashless imposed system. It’s legal tender and should be accepted regardless.

David Rothwell (Cairns, 2023-03-16)

#1079

I want to keep using cash rather than being charged extra for credit card transactions and so we have an option when the power or internet or banking systems go down

Lara Ganly (Deeral, 2023-03-16)

#1082

Everyone should have the right to choose how they pay & cash is sometimes more convenient

Debbi Cliff (HOLLOWAYS BEACH, 2023-03-16)

#1084

Cash is how our economy has run for eons… digital currency is not safe as we are reliant on electricity (no longer reliable), the internet (no longer reliable) and it’s open to cyber attacks.… cash is king.

Cathy Service (Goodna, 2023-03-16)

#1085

Cash transactions need to be a method of payment at all council owned facilities

Simon beckett (Cairns , 2023-03-16)

#1086

cash is important to socity

Cliff Kovacs (Redlynch, 2023-03-16)

#1088

It’s wrong

Tracy Walker (Cairns, 2023-03-17)

#1091

Cash is a necessary part of our lives, it doesn't matter where you come from.

Laurence Woods (SPEEWAH, 2023-03-17)

#1092

I'm sick of all 3 levels of government overreaching their powers on the little people. Cash is legal tender, why are our local council's above this. Shame on all councillors, may they all take a pay cut......

Sam King (Cairns , 2023-03-17)

#1093

I find the requirement to use my credit card to purchase a can of lemonade at one of your venues ie. Tanks CPAC is ridiculous. Bring back cash options please.

A L (Cairns, 2023-03-17)

#1094

Cash is legal tender, this shouldn't even be up for debate. My grandparents still rely on cash payments and I want my kids to grow up understanding the value of money not just by staring at a figure on a screen.

Mel Siegel (Cairns, 2023-03-17)

#1095

Cash is the "legal tender" of Australia! How dare the council takes that choice away from its ratepayers and the public.
Shameless assault on our democratic right!

Sabina Pattison (Cairns, 2023-03-17)

#1097

I'm signing this petition as l only use cash as it allows me greater control over my money. I had an appointment at the Cairns base and after driving around trying to get a park had to pay by card. A number of other people who parked in the same area were angry due to not being able to use cash.

Andrea Pumpa (Julatten , 2023-03-17)

#1099

Im signing because I’ll be moving to the cairns region in the next 6 months and I should have the option to pay with cash at any council facilities. It shouldn’t be up to council to dictate that.

Kane Parsons (Vic , 2023-03-17)

#1100

Cash is Legal tender of Australia.

Graham Allen (Westcourt, 2023-03-17)

#1101

cash is king .

Joanne McArdle (Cairns, 2023-03-18)

#1103

People should be allowed the option to pay by cash. The bill still gets paid. If this aouncil cares about Cairns, it should be interested in helping people however they have the means to. Not everyone has access to electronic payments.

Janet Davies (Cairns , 2023-03-18)

#1104

Not being able to use cash:
* discriminates against those who don't rely very heavily on bank accounts or credit cards
* reduces the diversity, hence freedom, and strength of our economy
* has the ability to pat be dependent on electricity and the other technology solutions that support 'cashless' transactions

Melissa Colman (Mareeba, 2023-03-18)

#1105

cash is essential for freedom and human rights

Adrienne Smillie (Mareeba, 2023-03-18)

#1111

Im signing because I do not support a cashless society

Rebecca Barnes (Koah, 2023-03-18)

#1113

I want to

Simon Debrincat (Cairns , 2023-03-18)

#1115

Cash Is legal tender , it's convenient and this entire go digital with everything Is a disaster waiting to happen.
Nothing will be private anymore.
More transaction fees, less autonomy. No thanks. Cash Is king.

Daisy Rose (CAIRNS, 2023-03-18)

#1117

Freedom of choice

Eric Kershaw (Cairns, 2023-03-19)

#1118

we should always be able to pay cash..

Nathaniel Stasse (Wondecla, 2023-03-19)

#1119

I believe a cashless society gives more power to government bodies, banks and other institutions. Which is a very frightening thing.

Marcus Burtt (Smithfield, 2023-03-19)

#1120

we must keep cash if things go down we can still live

Merv Foley (MARYBOROUGH QLD, 2023-03-19)

#1123

I absolutely do not want to go cashless!!!!!NRTD

Wendy Whitcroft (Gordonvale , 2023-03-19)

#1125

Cash should be used and not rely on internet

Stephen Howkee (Cairns , 2023-03-19)

#1126

Concerns about, future power shortages, with weather changes. Cyclones, fire, flooding.
Cash needs to stay as backup currency.

Ange Constable (Port Douglas , 2023-03-19)

#1127

Firstly it is abhorrent to the federal law and the currency act .. cash is LEGAL tender , secondly who are YOU ??
There are only 2 tiers of government in this county and you are not one of them

Raymond Brown (Edmonton , 2023-03-19)

#1129

We need choice.

Momoka Umei (Redlynch, 2023-03-20)

#1132

The option to use legal tender, cash, should not be removed by unelected bureaucrats in a monopoly situation such as local government services. A decision of this magnitude affecting young people without cards, or people who are not comfortable with digital transactions, should never have been made without public consultation and councilors voting at the very least. In any case, the right to use cash or card must be preserved as a basic right. If a business chooses to decline cash, they can be boycotted by the individual. Council fees and council operated venues cannot be boycotted in this manner, and so should not be refusing cash. As a ratepayer I am happy to accept whatever extra costs are required to maintain cash transactions at all council businesses and venues.

Paul Barton (Mooroobool, 2023-03-20)

#1134

Cashless = control......

Vali Mckenzie (Trinity Par, 2023-03-20)

#1137

It seems treasonous not accept Australian legal tender. Also, I choose not to support banks with my spending. I want my money to go to council not a bank.

John Carmiggelt (Machans Beach, 2023-03-20)

#1138

Oppose cashless conditions

Yvonne Buckley (Kairi , 2023-03-20)

#1142

I strongly believe, that paying with cash should always be an option.Everywhere and for everyone!!!! There can't be said enough about it. Paying with cash
-creates healthier spending habits through better awareness of how much you've got, how much you spend and on what you spend it
- allows for more privacy. Not everyone needs to know which toilet paper I am buying, what type of rubbish I brought to the tip, where I buy my concert tickets and so on
- uses peoples brains through counting, adding, substracting, calculating
-leads to more interaction between humans and sparks conversation
-makes kids feel rewarded and proud when spending the pocket money that they collected over the last few months
-and I could go on for days about why paying with cash is an absolute necessity.
The argument 'safety in times of Covid' is an excuse. It's used as an argument all around Australia to shortcut decisions against peoples wills and freedom. To ultimately play in the favor for and to the advantage of the deciding body.
It has to stop so that more people need less psychologists!
Thank you.

Anna Mollenhauer (Moorobool, 2023-03-20)

#1145

I don't support a cashless society

Andrew Brassett (Mooroobool, 2023-03-21)

#1146

I want to keep the option of cash payments for Cairns Regional Council transactions

Kathy Brenton (Cairns, 2023-03-22)

#1147

We were not given a choice. Today I went to use Smithfield refuse services, and just took 2 as I did not want to take my purse. I was told I could ot pay and could not use dump but had to drive back home pick up my card to pay! Councillors do your job and listen to words made by people who elected you. We need the option to pay by cash OR card.

Anne Gagie (Cairns, 2023-03-23)

#1149

I’m signing because I believe it’s un-Australian to not take Australian money PS would you like me to pay in rubles?

Alain Baillon (Cairns, 2023-03-23)

#1150

While cash is legal tender, all levels of government should accept it.

Ben Holgate (Rockhampton, 2023-03-23)

#1152

I FULLY AGREE THAT WESHOULD RETAIN CASH - NOT DIGITAL ID AND PAYMENTS.

Maurice Kezic (Kingaroy, 2023-03-24)

#1155

There’s a lot of times it’s easier to do family budget with cash and paying with cash than leaving it in the bank.

Cameron Murray (Brisbane, 2023-03-25)

#1156

I sign this for very simple reasons. Not everyone has internet banking or a credit card.
You did not ask the people of cairns if they want this. It is clear and evident they don’t want devices to be cashless.

Meinda Norris (Cairns, 2023-03-26)

#1157

Cash is my currency
They are not going to take my freedom away

Tracey Gilchrist (Cairns, 2023-03-26)

#1159

I pay cash at the dump

alain Beydoun (Cairns , 2023-03-27)

#1160

The digital economy, is a globalist agenda, for digital slavery. RESIST, OBJECT, DEFEND, REJECT!

GEOFF SAVAGE (Mareeba, 2023-03-27)

#1161

Because I do not want to live in a totalitarian government we are government has full autonomy over its people we have a right to our privacy and what we spend and not to be tracked wherever we go

Cameron Bruce (Cairns , 2023-03-27)

#1164

Keep cash alive. The inability to use legal tender is unconstitutional.

Neville Brunton (Cairns City, 2023-03-27)

#1165

I believe that decisions like this should be put to the community’s that use these facilities. Cash is legal tender and refusing it is not lawful.

Justine Burville (Atherton , 2023-03-27)

#1168

Going cashless is a recipe for disaster. If power goes out, or banking goes down we will be helpless. The public like cash don't stop its use without consulting the people.

Ronald Pierce-Lyons (Machans Beach, 2023-03-27)

#1169

I want to use cash always.

Joanna Bouwmeester (Cairns, 2023-03-27)

#1171

I am opposed to the no cash policy.

Angela Martello (Herberton, 2023-03-27)

#1176

Not using cash is a step in the direction of central bank digital currency , which is just a tool for more government control over the population

Gerard Kath (Dimbulah, 2023-03-27)

#1177

A cashless society, is a controlled and unfree society.

Daniela Welsh (Cairns, 2023-03-27)

#1179

cash is legal tender and must be accepted

Matteo Priante (Brinsmead, 2023-03-27)

#1181

We need to keep cash alive in our communities. I personally did not enter into any Council "no-cash" contract. Putting a fact sheet on a website is not communicating to all the people affected by this decision. I know this no-cash policy has not been widely accepted by the majority of residents.

Brenda Gracie (Mena Creek, 2023-03-27)

#1184

It’s wrong to force people to be cashless!

Emma Angerson (Cairns, 2023-03-28)

#1185

It is my right to pay with cash

Cherie Maher (Cairns, 2023-03-28)

#1186

I really really want to keep cash alive, as it is very important for all of us.TyUA

Patricia Grant (Mooroobool, 2023-03-28)

#1189

Stop controls on our nation

John Mindenhall (Cairns, 2023-03-28)

#1190

Because this is ridiculous

Douglas Edhouse (Cairns, 2023-03-28)

#1191

I do not believe a council that I’m a ratepayer of should make this descision without the citizens of Cairns having a say in it. This our City and we should be involved in descisions that effect all of us.
I VOTE FOR CASH to be allowed to pay my bills, including parking meters! It’s the AUSTRALIAN CURRENCY!!!

Shane Lawrence (Cairns , 2023-03-28)

#1192

Cash IS a legal currency in Australia and must be able to be exchanged. The removal of cash is a UN New World Order agenda in action in order to push everyone into digital currency that is trackable and controllable.

Roseanne Cash (Cairns, 2023-03-28)

#1194

I’m sick of politicians making decisions without consulting the public. I want to give my grandchildren pocket money, I want them to learn and understand the importance of money and I want this world wide bullshit to end 😡

Phillipa Sibley (Cairns , 2023-03-28)

#1195

I'm signing this because I believe cash should be optional to use. If the Council actually presented the option to go cashless to the elected representatives to decide on, i would not be writing this.

Allen Vaega (KURANDA, 2023-03-29)

#1199

Although cash has no backing since it was removed from the gold standard, it's still a tangible and protected currency. Digital currency alone is not backed by anything physical. Nor is it private or protected from manipulation. No council or government has the right to take away the rights or choices of the citizens who they are meant to serve.

Aaron Hammill (Cairns, 2023-03-29)

#1200

Cash is and has been legal tender to be used in ALL TRANSACTIONS everychere in Australia and to settle all debts. I've been using it all my life and I DO INSIST on keeping using it. Cash accepting facility MUST be available on CRC premises. I STRONGLY OPPOSE NO-CASH POLICY at all Council facilities!!!!!!!!!

Anthony Pozerski (Cairns, 2023-03-29)
