Moon Gymnastics has been an integral part of creating the successful adult that I am today. I learned invaluable life lessons alongside my gymnastics skills across the approximately 15 years I competed with Amy Caprino and Nicole Caprino as my coaches. I also competed with Nick Price as a teammate. I can attest to the professionalism and dedication of all three of these upstanding humans. All three of these dedicated individuals have put immeasurable time and effort into coaching young gymnasts to make them excellent athletes and even better humans. They put their souls into their work and have created a true legacy with this program, as evidenced by the success of the teams every year and the quality of gymnasts they help shape into upstanding citizens through the discipline of their training (on academic, athletic, and personal fronts).Kara Imbrogno (Beachwood, 2023-08-18)

I was a gymnast at Moon Gymnastics, and it was one of the most formative experiences of my childhood. The best part of Moon School District is its gymnastics program and Coach Amy.Jocelyn Noya Quintana (Miami, 2023-08-18)

I believe in Amy’s rules. If you can’t commit 100% to a team do not sign up. Why Ms Barr feels that Amy should bend her rules when it is obvious that the other gym her daughter is participating in won’t. Both these coaches have done wonderful things for the girls and Moon!!!Penny Shelton (Moon Twp, 2023-08-18)

I am signing this petition because I stand behind Amy Caprino. I believe in any sport not just gymnastics there is an attendance policy. Unfortunately people have conflicts but you have to follow the rules that are set in place. I have have known Amy for many years. I began gymnastics with her recreational program in 1982 and continued until I graduated in 1989. I was in the first gym show they had. I developed confidence and many friendships throughout my years there. I have watched her create such agreat program and I am always happy to see how well the team does. The community needs people like Amy who put her entire life into such a great program!

Amy Caprino is a wonderful human being and mentor to these children and she doesn't deserve to have the program that she has worked so hard for, FOR DECADES, swept out from under her. The program is good enough for a competitive gymnast to want to join because Amy and the coaching team have built it into a premier team.Sarah Deren (Pittsburgh, 2023-08-18)

My daughter has been a part of this program for years and I am grateful to Amy for the way she has been running it. She is inclusive and treats everyone the same. All gymnasts are equally valued and have to put in the same amount of work, no matter what. This is a great life lesson and likely what has made the program so successful for decades!!Michele Stengl (Moon, 2023-08-18)

Amy and Nick have been great leaders for the Moon Gymnastics and have given so much expertise and exemplary leadership over the years. Why would someone be dismissed because they tried to enforce rules that have been in place for many years?Fran Rich (Moon Township, 2023-08-18)

I was raised through this program and coached by both Amy and Nick. I could not be more grateful for this program and I would not be the person I am today without it. Amy is so incredibly dedicated to Moon gymnastics and the program would not be as successful as it is without her. It’s so sad that someone in power is using their position to slander someone’s character because her daughter didn’t get special treatment since she couldn’t follow the rules that have been in place for many many years. Be better.Ashley Hudzinski (Moon, 2023-08-18)

I'm a Moon alumni and had many friends that took part in the Moon gymnastics program. It's pretty disgusting a School Board member is using their position to enact revenge because they don't believe the rules should apply to them.Max Polinski (Moon Twp., 2023-08-18)

I support Amy Caprino and Nick Price! They have a great program and keep the sport of gymnastics running from the state of PA!!!As a coach myself attendance is a big thing in the sport of gymnastics! Coaches need to see that the kids doing the skills and know they are preforming then correctly! I also have competitive gymnast on my high school team and they need to adhere to my attendance policy as well or they are not competing or traveling either the team.

Amy & Moon Gymnastics taught my daughter accountability, making choices is hard and rules are rules. 1 minute late is still late.I never had issue with Amy or any staff. They are supportive and really do their job for the kids.
At the very least Nick should be reinstated and Barr removed from the Board.

As a fellow Moon student. I feel obligated to sign the petition on half of my fellow class mates and friends. This is a prime example of why parents should not be involved with school positions especially if their children go to the school. This is a very unfortunate situation and I would be very sad to see such a large and successful program being shut down due to a parent’s position in the school board.Fin Dengel (Pittsburgh, 2023-08-18)

I’m signing this petition because my daughter was a gymnast from the age of 5 until she graduated high school. Then went on for 4 more yrs in college. In her high school years she was in competitive and high school gymnastic. We had the privilege of knowing Both Amy and Nick . Even thou my daughter was from a different school and team she was always treated with respect from both Amy and Nick. My daughter at times had meets in her club and high school at the same time . She knew she had to choose one over the other. If she couldn’t compete with high school no one blamed her and she never blamed anyone else. She knew what she had to do. It was her choice. Amy has made Moon gymnastics what it is today. They have won multiple WPIAL AND STATE TITLES. How do you get rid of someone like her. Moon Gymnastics can’t get any better with someone else. Sounds like a disgruntled parent.Carol Burak (Aliquippa, 2023-08-18)

I am in support of the Moon Gymnastics program, their parents and coaches. There are not enough good coaches and parents out there. One person should not be able to control something—especially by using your profile of being a school board member.Becky Francis (Darlington, 2023-08-18)

A coach’s job should not be endangered due to the irresponsibilities of a parent choosing not to meet the demands of the team. Just because this mother is in the school board does not warrant her or her daughter special treatment. This is bullying and is a huge part of why we see great teachers and coaches leaving this profession.Katie Rizzo (Robinson Township, 2023-08-18)

I was a gymnast under Amy from when I started on the youth team up through varsity when I graduated in 1989. My older sister was also a gymnast for Amy until she graduated in 1985. Moon School District is truly blessed to have her as a coach to this day.Sharon Malazich (Bridgeville, 2023-08-18)

I participated in Moon gymnastics from 1998-2004. Nikki and Amy were phenomenal coaches who brought the beautiful sport of gymnastics to all of us in a way that was fun, safe, skilled and of highest integrity. There are so few things that have been around as long as Amy and Niki have been coaching. They built a legacy in Moon through their decades of care and dedication and, should be respected, honored and advocated as such.Casey Hall (Pittsburgh, 2023-08-18)

I am writing to wholeheartedly support the petition to protect and back up Amy Caprino, Nicole Daugherty, and Nick Price. As an alumni that was once under their guidance, I can say that I would not be the person I am today without them. Their unwavering commitment to not only teaching gymnastics skills, but also fostering self-confidence, mental resilience, teamwork, discipline, personal growth, etc. is truly commendable. The thought of losing such inspirational and caring mentors breaks my heart. Their guidance has not only improved my gymnastics abilities but has also helped shape my character into the person I am today. I implore the decision-makers to reconsider and recognize the profound value our coaches brings to our community.Jordan Bauer (Moon Township, 2023-08-19)

I support the Moon Area Gymnastics Program and its coaching staff, including Amy Caprino and Nick Price. My daughter participated and competed in, and coached for the Moon Area Gymnastics program for 14+ years. Not only did she become an accomplished athlete through the coaching of Amy and Nickie Caprino and their staff, but she developed characteristics and qualities that helped her become the remarkable woman she is today. She learned the important qualities of teamwork, discipline, commitment, hard work, and leadership, among others.
Moon Area Gymastics is one of the best programs in Moon Township that instills qualities in our youth that help them become successful, well-rounded adults.
To suggest that replacing the coaches, who have built this program into the success it has become, will make the program better is nonsense. Perhaps it is time for our community leadership to read the room. Moon Township parents and children deserve better.
