There are no scientific health grounds to prevent the sale of flowers. It is sinful that ourGovernment could use flowers for a political
purpose….

I work for a rose grower in West Auckland. It breaks my heart seeing all our roses and other product being thrown away 💔Charlotte Murch (Auckland , 2021-09-08)

I’m signing because it seems completely unfair that flowers can’t be sold by contactless delivery in L4. Buying flowers would help cheer people up and save wasting these precious flowers.Donna Meuli (Campbells Bay, Auckland, 2021-09-08)

I'm signing because I believe flower growers in Auckland should be allowed to sell their flowers during lockdown. What a waste to see them on the compost pile!!!!!Yvonne Walraven (New Plymouth, 2021-09-08)

I’m signing because the flower industry has been neglected through this recent lockdown. Flowers are essential, they provide an incredible benefit for mental well-being and would be an incredible uplift to have access to flowers throughout a lockdown where citizens are struggling emotionally. It is incredibly disappointing to see the way that they’ve been disregarded.Hannah Truly (Wellington, 2021-09-08)

I’m signing because I want to see an exemption given to flower farmers who invest & work tirelessly to supply beautiful, joy-giving blooms to our communities & who are suffering under current legislation by being forced to trash instead of treasure their product. Give flower farmers a break.Jane Cresswell (Auckland, 2021-09-08)

Flower growers make an investment in their product many months prior to picking and there is almost no flexibility once they are ready. Please allow these beautiful, perishable things to be sold in stores already open.Robyn Toomath (Auckland , 2021-09-08)

I’m signing because flowers make people happy and that’s essential in these trying time. I’m signing because of a kiwi fruit grower can safely supply produce to supermarkets then why can’t a flower grower?! I’m signing because I support these small businesses and because as a small business myself I purchase from these flower farms and not only am I missing these blooms but also the current events are going to have a long lasting effect on price and supply which will in turn affect my business and income and my ability to provide for my family.Jane Smith (Taupō, 2021-09-08)

I’m signing because I believe flower farmers deserve fairer consideration and protection, and that flowers are as meaningful as some of the other goods still being traded under level 4 if not more than others. In a world of obese people, living in a global pandemic, flowers are a beautiful way to show appreciation and a perfect “pick me up” (pun intended) wether it be for yourself or someone else, rather than turning to sugar or alcoholJourdain Sanson (Tauranga, 2021-09-08)

I want to support the flower growers especially on Waiheke IslandJennifer Newton (Auckland, 2021-09-08)

The government appears intent on destroying business.. a flower grower coming in to full flush in their glass houses have to ditch,,, their stock … Van Lier Nursery is rural.. we are surrounded by rural stalls with contactless produce being sold or donated.. Labour, it’s called survival and kindness.. for goodness sake, where is your thinking ..!!!!!!Alison Gwilliam (Auckland, 2021-09-08)

I’m signing because the flower market deserves to be treated as an essential service.Monique ONeil (Auckland, 2021-09-08)
#928
My mum's a florist and we both grow flowers for her business on a very small scale 💐 At the moment she is struggling to get any flowers through the markets. Preventing flowers growers and florists from selling their flowers in a safe, contact-less way makes absolutely no sense.!Rebecca Downey (Taumarunui , 2021-09-08)
#931
I love flowers and florists!!Simon Mitchell (Wellington, 2021-09-08)
#932
Flowers bring joy and enhance our mental and emotional well being, they nourish us - in different ways to fruit and verges… and should have the same rules! It just doesn’t seem fair to growers, florists and flower lovers who want to brighten their homes with freshness, fragrance and nature’s beauty.Sara Byrne (Levin, 2021-09-08)
#935
The growers deserve better - what a complete waste and loss to themRosemary Brown (Invercargill, 2021-09-08)

As a florist committed to sustainability I am worried we will lose many of our local growers.Felicity Jones (Auckland, 2021-09-08)

I saw your dilemma on Seven Sharp tonight, how devastating for you to go through this again. Totally agree that flowers are part of a human's wellbeing journey in so many parts of our lives and this industry should be considered essential to our mental health. To all those politicians out there, how do you feel when you are given flowers - it is an incredible feeling and one that shouldn't be stopped at lockdown. Good luck to you and you have every NZers total support. All the best.Bela Jones (Hastings, 2021-09-08)

I am a student florist and it saddens me to see all those beautiful blooms unable to be used. Dedinitley not fair thats for sure!Evie Anderson (Hamilton , 2021-09-08)
#942
Flowers bring joy and life into our lives and provide a bright spark. A lot of us live in apartments and don’t have a garden at our disposal. The other thing too my mother died during lockdown and flowers would have been an uplifting event.Bridget Hanley (Auckland , 2021-09-08)

#955
This is ridiculous and unfair. Flowers can also we delivered or picked up contactless. If alcohol can why can't flowers?!?!Monica McMillan (Napier , 2021-09-08)
#956
It's so sad to see these flowers dumped directly, before their glamour gets appreciated. Simply look at the fresh blossoms, smell their natural fragrance, then you'll feel cured. It's just unfortunately that plants cannot know that we are suffering from COVID.And as a horticultural scholar, I understand it was growers' effort of days and nights before we can enjoy the pleasant moments. I feel sorry to see they get frustrated and lose hope.

I agree. They should be able to sell flowers. Esp when you walk into the supermarket and see imported flowers still for sale. That is just wrong.Emma Teahan (Wellington, 2021-09-08)

I believe all growers should have the same supply rights during level 4 lockdowns.Jo Mann (Auckland , 2021-09-08)
#967
I want to save our flower growers from financial ruin. This is an important industry. If alcohol, that is available at supermarkets and non perishable, can be delivered then why can’t flowers. At least let them be sold through supermarkets. They bring a lot of joy to those stuck at home.Carolyn Fredrickson (Wellington, 2021-09-08)

I’m signing because the double standards of being able to get donuts delivered and not flowers is ridiculous. If a business can maintain proper covid protocols they should be able to operate. MBIE needs to re think it’s policiesTom Ronaldson (Wellington, 2021-09-08)
