I am a licensed practicing attorney in Good Standing in the State of Missouri. The conduct of certain members of various State Bars, who are purportedly acting as Officers of the Court, has become nothing less than shocking and appalling both before and after the Presidential election. Not only have these individuals undermined their own solemn oaths they must take to support and defend the Constitution of their State Bar or the Bar of the District of Columbia, as well as, first and foremost, the Constitution of the United States. In some instances they have flagrantly violated their oaths by engaging in deliberate strategies to undermine public confidence in the democratic and electoral process, by their statements on public media and in public forums, as well as by either bringing meritless cases before tribunals, or supporting those who engage in this deleterious conduct. These various Courts, both at the state and federal level, have dismissed, with one single exception related to the distance an observer may stand from a poll-worker, EVERY SINGLE CASE as having NO BASIS for a claim, or lacking standing, or numerous other defects that attempt to weaponize courts to strike down the results of free and fair elections. It is both disturbing and unacceptable that any licensed attorney in the United States can knowingly traffic in false information and promote and spread false information or allege fraud or misconduct with no evidence whatsoever, and thereby both misrepresent the law and the facts as they are known. This in turn damages the public's confidence not only in our democratic process, but the reputation and reliability that licensed attorneys who are supposed to be held to a higher standard should be held to. It is my strongly held belief that no State Bar should tolerate such gross misconduct from its members without any consequence. The ethical standards and principles that we hold ourselves to are not empty words, but they must be backed by conduct and statements made, particularly those who are in positions of greater responsibility such as public office. Mr. Gaetz has clearly demonstrated a total disregard for the high standards the Bar of the State of Florida has set for its members, and it is also of note that Mr. Gaetz has been formally censured on multiple previous occasions for professional misconduct and actions that clearly are harmful to the country's state and federal court systems.
