I'm appalled by the situation at WSU. Instead of accountability for a tragic loss of life, excuses are being made. A human life was lost, and it's irrelevant whether the individual was registered or not. The university's security and accountability are under scrutiny. The official's justification for this brutal act is not only unacceptable but also raises questions about the values of the institution. Why does the resident manager carry a gun in a student-filled environment? What about the injured – did they deserve to be shot too? The spirit of Ubuntu seems to have been forgotten. We demand justice for Sisonke and will not rest. This incident is a barbaric act that undermines human life and dignity.
