I believe in the value of live entertainment and cultural exposure of social venues and I am absolutely and totally against any form of bullying. The bullying should be treated as he/she treats others. Vat so skirminkel!

A heavy blow to an important part of an already suffering scene in Pretoria. The city needs more venues like these, and losing the few there are would be devastating.
We need Sowaar Bar back, rezoned and thriving.

Andre De bruyn (Pretoria , 2023-09-02)

#618

Sowaar Bar is a safe venue which provides clean entertainment. This venue provides for multiple families through their staff and it would be wrong to force a fine when a proposal was made before signing the lease as well as the willingness to rezone. This is not fair.

John Stipp (Pretoria, 2023-09-02)

Zybrandt Lombaard (Cape Town, 2023-09-02)

Sowaar bar is a place of joy and entertainment. I support them because fairly national big corporations are acceptable, because they also want to make money. BUT, if they are trying to make money by killing the little guy, they are no better than everyday criminals leeching off of others' fair share.

They deserve to have their space and the landlord trying to undermine the legal agreement and then try to force the bars hand by dragging out the legal process, is an abuse of the justice system and should not be tolerated.

Apart from all the open mics, great shows from Koos Kombuis to BUNK events, I’ve also played there with Vegas ft. The Ultimate Party Band, Ruiter Piet, Boek Klub and my solo project with Spoegwolf. Artists, Sound crews, waiters and bartenders need live music to make a living. The public also need shows to justify working day to day to enjoy some spare time craftsmen at work.

Rob Marx (Centurion , 2023-09-03)

#758

I'm signing this because Sowaar Bar is an integral part of our arts and culture in Pretoria.

Its not just another bar that sells booze and has a average DJ that spins the same tunes every day.

Sowaar Bar understands that music and art of all kinds needs to be supported in order not to die out like an endangered species.

Unfortunately art in all forms will die if it is not supported and appreciated for what it is. Art /Music is love, it's appreciation of God and is necessary for people to remember that we live in the present moment and we are allowed to forget about life's worries, even if it's just for 5 minutes.

It would be a slap in the face to God if we do not appreciate his work.

Its a slap in the face to God that Sowaar bar is not allowed to be what is intended for, a place of love and worship and appreciation.

I am writing to express my heartfelt support for the establishment and continued operation of “Sowaar,” a bar that has become an integral part of our community. It is with great enthusiasm and genuine belief that I assert the significance of Sowaar in bringing our diverse community of individuals together.

Sowaar has transcended its role as a mere drinking establishment; it has evolved into a communal hub that fosters a sense of belonging, camaraderie, and unity among the residents of our neighborhood. This establishment has played a pivotal role in our community for several reasons:

1. Inclusivity: Sowaar has consistently demonstrated a commitment to inclusivity by welcoming people from all walks of life. It is a place where diversity is celebrated, and where individuals of various backgrounds can come together, share experiences, and build lasting connections.
2. Community Events: Sowaar actively organizes and hosts a range of community events, from charity fundraisers to local artist showcases. These events not only provide entertainment but also serve as opportunities for neighbors to interact and collaborate.
3. Support for Local Businesses: The bar has a strong partnership with local suppliers, helping to stimulate our local economy and supporting nearby businesses. This not only benefits the bar but also strengthens the entire community.
4. Safe and Responsible Environment: Sowaar has consistently demonstrated a commitment to responsible alcohol service, ensuring that patrons can enjoy themselves in a safe and controlled environment. The establishment has also actively participated in programs to promote responsible drinking.
5. Cultural Enrichment: Through its diverse music offerings, art exhibitions, and themed nights, Sowaar enriches our community’s cultural landscape. It provides a platform for local artists and musicians to showcase their talents.

The absence of Sowaar would leave a significant void in our community, impacting not only our social lives but also the bonds that hold our neighborhood together. Therefore, I strongly urge you to consider the invaluable role that Sowaar plays in promoting community cohesion and to support its continued operation.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you will take into account the sentiments of our community members who believe that Sowaar is an indispensable part of our neighborhood.

Sincerely,

Reece
