the roads are dangerous and needs to be sorted asap.

sydnie brown (keighley, 2021-09-25)

#602

I believe the council were given 25k years ago to make a footpath on Sutton Lane. What have they done with that money. They need to sort this.

Julie Carlton (KEIGHLEY, 2021-09-25)

Natalie Hargreaves (Bradford, 2021-09-25)

#605

I walk along this road to work and take my life in my hands every day

Cathy Jobling (Keighley, 2021-09-25)

#607

This lane as been a death trap for pedestrians for far too long! Either speed cameras or a safe path needs to be sorted or both!

Luke Sagar (Keighley, 2021-09-26)

#609

Something needs to be done before another accident happens

Alison Read (Keighley, 2021-09-26)

#613

I’m signing because a precious child’s life has been taken too soon due to a dangerous unlit road with no pavement on Sutton lane end between Sutton and eastburn. This is not the first incident but hopefully together with your help this can be the last.Better lighting, speed humps and a pavement could have saved this family a horrific loss. How much is a child’s life worth? Investment from our local council needs to happen.

KAYLEIGH Gott (Winston Avenue, 2021-09-26)

I have lived in Sutton-in-Craven for since 1987. I have been involved with other attempts to ensure Main Street & Sutton Lane are made safer by reducing the speed of traffic on it & making a footpath off the road.
What an absolute tragedy that a young boy has had to loose his life & a family destroyed for this to come to the fore again.
I sincerely hope that this time our voices are heard & the local councils take action to make sure no other family had to suffer as they must be doing. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Bev Beaumont (Sutton-in-Craven, 2021-09-26)

#616

People fly around those roads
No lighting
No clear sped limit

Georgina Metcalfe (Sutton in craven, 2021-09-27)

#618

I am signing because the roads in this area are very dangerous. Traffic is heavy and includes HGV and speeding cars. Children and parents using the schools and nurseries are constantly at risk from this traffic. Health and safety must prevail for the sake of other young lives.

J Burghardt (Keighley, 2021-09-27)

#620

I find it disgraceful and extremely heart breaking a little boy had to loose his life for this petition to come to light.

Sally Smith (Keighley, 2021-09-27)

#621

I live just off Sutton Lane. The recent tragedy means action must be taken. Please do something to avoid anything like this happening again .

Paula Metcalfe (Keighley, 2021-09-27)

I’m signing because this tragedy is appalling and this has been so needed . It’s too lonely or dark at night to go beck side and this lovely family have lost their beautiful son

Louise Rankin (Keighley, 2021-09-27)

#626

This is a frightening road to walk along in the dark or at dusk and is a main thoroughfare for pedestrians.
A pavement is desperately needed.

Louise Igoe (Keighley, 2021-09-27)

#630

This area has been an accident waiting to happen and the tragedy is that it has and we don’t want it to happen again.

Tracy Wowk (Keighley, 2021-09-28)

#632

As a resident of Sutton and someone who chooses to walk down Sutton Lane to reduce the use of my car for short journeys, and family members who also walk down the lane who don’t drive, I would like to support the improvement of safety for pedestrians on this route.

Jo Farn (Keighley, 2021-09-29)

#634

A young child lost his life due to the road being not safe . This should have been done sooner

Jade Woolley (Keighley, 2021-09-29)

#642

I’m signing because our roads are so hazardous.

Heather Naylor (KEIGHLEY, 2021-09-29)

#645

Sutton Lane is a dangerous road that has cost a life because a footpath has not been provided despite the residents of Sutton calling for one for many years. Now is the time for action and get a pavement built before another life is lost.

Andrew Garford (Sutton in Craven, 2021-09-29)

#646

This stretch of road is so dangerous, apart from more lighting required, we definitely need a footpath before there's another tragedy. This should have been put in place years ago, it's a well-used walk to get from Sutton to Eastburn & vice-versa. The footpath could be routed in the fields alongside the wall.

Janet Garford (Keighley, 2021-09-29)

#648

I'm signing because I live near where the accident happened and it has devasted so many people in the community and the road needs sorting before something else like this happens again!

Tia Earnshaw (Eastburn, 2021-09-30)

#649

I have children that go to school I the village and can’t walk to school safely in winter! Also we have family in sutton and can’t walk back to Eastburn in an evening safely

James Ewles (Eastburn, 2021-09-30)

#650

I live on Knott Lane and cannot avoid using Sutton Lane when I leave my home. I have had concerns about road safety for several years and would like to see measures put in place to support road users.

Caroline Wright (Keighley, 2021-09-30)

#651

I have family members who live on Knott lane, just off Sutton Lane, so we need to walk or drive on there regularly. It is extremely dangerous road, particularly for pedestrians as there is not enough space for 2 cars passing and a pedestrian. Many cars seem reluctant to stop to allow pedestrians to pass or do not see them. The road needs widening and a pathway built or a pathway made on the other side of the wall.

Sharon Carr (Skipton, 2021-09-30)

#652

Sutton lane is narrow and has no footpath and its very dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists

#678

Speeding cars especially on Holme Lane

David Radcliffe (Keighley, 2021-10-01)

#679

A family have been through hell after loosing a child prematurely due to the road and lack of footpath. The toad is dangerous and very narrow in places. Some walkers in the dark can be hard to see especially when it raining as the lighting and s not great in places.

Erika Mitchell (Keighley, 2021-10-01)

#683

I’m signing because I think there’s too much dangerous driving. As a regular cyclist I’d say it’s getting worse. And this young boys loss is both tragic and totally avoidable.

Neil Parkinson (Wolverhampton, 2021-10-02)

#684

Those roads are a danger to our family and friends

Michelle Williams (KEIGHLEY, 2021-10-02)

#685

The roads are dangerous and something needs to be done urgently so another life is not lost

Lisa Taylor (Skipton - North Yorkshire, 2021-10-02)

#687

The road in question needs better pedesrian access ....it is dangerous and has been an
accident waiting to happen for many years.....there needs to speed restrictions of 20 MPH enforced (as indeed 20 Mph throughout Sutton also)...as this stretch is used as a Speed track by idiots.....

Jennifer Banks (Sutton in Craven, Keighley, 2021-10-02)

#690

This road is a main thourfhfare for Sutton and is in need of a foot path. I have used this road on foot and four wheels and have had a few near misses

Eric Shaw (Keighley, 2021-10-02)

#698

Young child lost his life walking along the lanes.

Carol Moore (Glusburn, 2021-10-03)

#699

The pain I have witnessed at the death of the 9 year old boy on 17th September 2021 is too much. No one should have to go through that when measures can be put in place to make that road safer. That road has always been an accident waiting to happen, unfortunately it was my family.

Jeanette Mitchell (Bingley, 2021-10-03)

#700

A deverstating tragedy has happened. This road is so dangerous for drivers and pedestrians walking along it.

It desperately needs a path. It's a Basic essential that needs to happen ASAP.

There is plenty of land & space so there is no excuses

Charlotte Arbuthnott (Sutton, 2021-10-03)

#702

I have lived in the area 37 years and it has always been a dangerous road !!
Always have to be careful when driving at any time of day !!!

Janet Harrison (Keighley west yorkshire, 2021-10-03)

#703

Cars seem to be driving faster with no consideration of the laws particularly around the back roads around Sutton and towards cowling. Lighting and footpaths are inadequate in areas.
Following the recent fatality something needs to be done.
Let not a life be lost in vain.

Gary Coates (Cowling, 2021-10-03)

#708

The road needs to be made safer. We shouldn’t have to get to the point where we petition to keep people safe on our roads!

Daryl Swales (Sutton in Craven, 2021-10-03)

Gill Jarvis (Bradford, 2021-10-03)

#721

I was horrified to learn that my cousin (twice removed), George Lewis – who I have known since he was a toddler – was killed by a speeding van. I have walked down that lane when I have visited my cousin, Sandra Lewis, and her family in Cross Hills, and know how narrow it is. A footpath, as well as speed humps in the road, are necessary to prevent another tragedy

Vaughan Macefield (Melbourne, 2021-10-03)

#739

I don't want to see another pedestrian die or injured or for any other families to be affected in the future

Donna Shaw (Keighley, 2021-10-03)

#741

My children and grandchildren live just off Sutton lane. It could quite easily have been them. My wife and I use the road regularly, as we collect the children from Sutton CE Primary school. I have witnessed first hand and on numerous occasions, cars and vans driving extremely fast on the Lane. In schools there has been a lot of work to encourage children and there families to have a healthy lifestyle. Walking to school is one of the ways suggested as it would provide healthy exercise and also reduce the traffic problems outside Sutton CE Prrimary. At present And in view of the recent fatality, parents would not want to walk on that route to school. It is extremely important that action is taken as quick as possible before another life is taken on this road.

Michael Curtin (Keighley, 2021-10-03)

#749

George was a bright and loved little boy with a bright future ahead. He should still be here.

Helen Bradley (Keighley, 2021-10-03)

#781

To make the roads near my home safer

Annette Palfreman (Sutton in craven, 2021-10-03)

#782

It’s shocking that it has taken the tragic killing of a child in the community to prompt the council to act to prevent further tragedy.
There are several primary schools and a secondary school in the vicinity.
Many pedestrians walk along Sutton Lane out of necessity and it’s shocking that there is no pavement for their safety.
Speeding is an issue in sections.
We need lower speed limits and measures to calm traffic, lighting, plus warning signs.
I hope we never lose another innocent life.

Lesley Curtin (Keighley, 2021-10-03)

#787

Road needs better lights
