this virtual thing is bullshit. If you actually talk to students. Most of them are hands on learners including myself. Plus not every pair of friends gets to see each other outside of school

I feel people are blowing this way out proportion and the kids are suffering for it. The long term effects on the kids as well as the parents who now face unemployment because they cannot leave their kids home alone or have a safe place for them to be monitored is an incredible long lasting negative that outweighs the threat of this virus. Keep outsiders out of the school and only allow faculty and students. It’s not that hard. It’s common sense. Stop the fear monger tactic and show concern for the families who face detrimental hardships from this asinine plan.

Our kids need their teachers. They have been isolated for months and deserve to be back with their friends. The benefit far outweighs the risk. Virtual learning has not been ideal for our family. We are so appreciative of all the amazing hard work our kids’ teachers have done on the virtual side of things, but they would love to be back in person with a mask!

Josie Kilde (Wausau, 2020-07-31)

Virtual learning is a POS.

If done properly I believe the teachers and staff can make our schools safe for our kids.

I'm signing because I want my son back in school. He wants to go to school as well. He doesn't want to be home.

Amanda Landwehr (Wausau, 2020-07-31)

Our kids need school. There are so many other problems( social, mental..ect) kids are having because they are not in school. Covid is the least of their problems right now and stats show kids aren't having problems with it! Get back to school and tell the teachers Unions they aren't essential until they get to school and work! Lets go!

Michael Peterson (Wausau, 2020-07-31)

#628

I feel continuing to keep the kids out of school is detrimental for their education and social health.

Suzanne Schulz (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#631

Our kids need this structure and normalcy! We need to not let fear control us and teach proper hygiene instead. Parents could sign a waiver if need be but schools need to be opened! As a parent of a kid with an IEP, virtual education has and will continue to hurt my child’s progress. Open school.

Shelby Otalora (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#633

It is more dangerous for our communities children to stay at home than go to school. As a foster parent, I am aware of the underreported neglect and abuse cases since students have been out public schools since March.

Sandy Schmidt (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

How can we expect our children to learn and thrive with their parents teaching them? Not only are they not teachers, but to expect them to come home after 8-12 hours of work and give any kind of good instruction is just ridiculous. Family’s can not afford to quit their jobs to stay home to teach their children. There are children who depend on their time at school to get a decent meal everyday. We are putting our children at more risk by keeping them home, then we are if they were to go back to school. It is time to actually put our children first.

Cortney Drake Heck (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#639

Children need to be back in class. They have fallen behind in school and need social interaction

Shannon Jacobson (Wausau , 2020-08-01)

#644

I’m signing because I truly believe in class learning is safe and the best way for my children to learn. They did not do well during previous virtual learning.

Jared Graveen (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#649

I believe the children need to be in school. If not then the wages of ALL with the district need to be cut in half.

Nancy Larson (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#650

I’m signing because my daughter is impacted negatively by WSD only allowing virtual learning. My daughter needs face-to-face learning and so do many other children in our community.

Britney Tomczyk (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#651

I’m signing this because my child is in resource and cannot thrive with virtual learning.

Jennifer Toro (Wausau , 2020-08-01)

#652

Parents should have the option to send their kids to in person schooling or virtual. Not forced to do virtual only!!!!!

Shara Smith (Mosinee, 2020-08-01)

#665

my son will not learn much from me, and he is an only child, with special needs for learning

Carissa Moon Solimene (wausau , 2020-08-01)

#666

Students need to be back in school for many reasons but number one is to get a proper education not something online where some have proper internet and others not. Plus they need to be around other students for interaction and for health

Randy Pagel (Wausay, 2020-08-01)

#669

our kids need to go back to face to face learning

Rick Richmond (wausau, 2020-08-01)

#670

I suggest Wausau school district follow guidelines laid out by cdc and APA to have children return to school in person. I am a healthcare worker, you are reducing access to healthcare by this decision whether you know it or not. You are putting more of a strain on an already strained profession.

Kirsten Vetterkind (Wausau , 2020-08-01)

#672

I see the negative effect this shut down has had on my own grandchildren.
My daughterinlaw is completely blind. Having an 8 yr old and a 4 yr old to home school was a COMPLETE FAILURE. These kids are unable to school themselves. There are safe ways to open EVERY SINGLE PUBLIC PLACE.

Sharon Riddle (Merrill, 2020-08-01)

#674

They need school... all other schools are going back.. they miss school!!!

Michelle Tabaka (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#675

I am a single mom of 3 school aged children who do not learn well thru virtual learning. The end of last school year was horrible. I also have to work to keep my family afloat which happens to be during school hours. If children can go to child care they can also go to school. Open our schools.

Kelly Jensen (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#676

Because kids need to back in school, for not only learning purposes, but also for social interaction. We need kids to have heathy minds and bodies.

Nathan Pagel (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

Our family lives in Kronenwetter but our daughter attends Wausau West High School. We chose to send her to West even though we live south of Wausau because we believe the WSD is the best around. However, this latest decision has shaken our trust in the school board to make a reasonable decision based on all sides of the issue.

Rick Stengl (Kronenwetter, 2020-08-01)

#681

I want my child to get a better education than the mess he had last spring.....worst grades ever in his life. He’s also part of the basketball team, and is upset at the thought he may not be able to play.

Dan Lierman (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#682

This is not an easy decision but the kids are suffering. I am afraid of the long term damage in the areas of education, mental health, physical health and social skills. We have to do better for them.

Sarah Napgezek (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#685

Nobody should be in mask unless they are sick.; Especially Kids. Kids need to get back to school and normal settings. keeping them out will do more harm

My grandson is autisic and being raised by a single Dad. His daycare and homeschooling is done by me. His IEP needs were not being met with the virtual school and his already meager social skills are backsliding without the face to face schooling with his teachers and schoolmates.

Marsha Schultz (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#712

Disadvantaged children are falling farther behind. Children need social interaction. Day care and preschool children and teachers (non union) are able to be together safely. Teachers are essential and need to work. Grocery store workers are at higher risk and they work.

Janet Herring (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

#713

I believe children need face to face learning especially kindergarten to 6th grade. And special needs kids

Cindy Flora (Wausau, 2020-08-01)

Ross Witucki (Wausau, 2020-08-02)

#724

I feel strongly that children/young adults need to be in School for many reasons: to learn (knowing that majority didn't learn much via virtual); many children are living in unhealthy conditions including lack of food, care, and most important their safety.

Carol Venske (Wausau , 2020-08-02)

#730

Kids need to be back in school. Learning with teachers not their parents and need the social aspect with friends. This will be worse than the virus if kids dont go back to school.

Kelly Denzin (Wausau, 2020-08-02)

#735

Our children deserve to be educated. Tricia Zunker is on a power trip.

Jamie Weiland (Weston, 2020-08-03)

Our children need to resume school for academic, social, & mental health reasons .

Danielle Weiland (Wausau, 2020-08-03)

#750

I’m signing because my grandsons are in this school district and they need to get back to a normal school schedule. By no means am I a teacher, but I tried to teach them the best I could as their parents had to work during this time. They didn’t really learn anything. There is not enough wine to get me through another semester, PLEASE reconsider opening.

Pam Bares (Fredonia , 2020-08-03)

#753

I believe the kids need to be back in school to help with their social skills and mental health.

MariAnn Frie (Wausau, 2020-08-04)

#755

Thank you to everyone during these difficult times and for the considerations of the needs of the many and not just the few.

Scott Bautch (Wausau, 2020-08-04)

#760

So many reasons, but primarily for the mental health benefits and learning benefits of my children.
Secondly, these people in authority have far over-reached their bounds. Our country is literally a country of rebels, and from day one, we rebelled against those in authority (monarchy) over-reaching their bounds.

Peter Fuchs (Merrill, 2020-08-04)

#764

Kids and teachers have to get back to a normal school year. Teachers are essential and our kids health and further are essential.

Sally Sann (Wausau, 2020-08-07)

#773

All the real world data and every health organization and official from Fauci to the CDC and the American Association of Pediatrics states schools should be open and the harm to our kids is far worse than the pandemic is to their long term growth, success, health and wellbeing!!!!!!!

Michael Wright (Wausau , 2020-08-10)

#778

I have grandchildren who really need to be back in school for social skills, better learning to not keep putting them behind like last spring did. I was there for one grandchild and it wasn’t a great learning experience! Loved school before didn’t want to do it at the end because it was boring and same pdf files daily! Some children need structure!

Karol Wolk (Merrill, 2020-08-10)

#781

I’m signing because our children need to be in school!

Jessica Pearson (Wausau, 2020-08-10)

Virtual learning does not work for my child. She needs her social , structured routine that face to face learning provides.

Vickie Tautges-Crum (Wausau, 2020-08-10)

#787

My children are showing significant signs of social decline. They require the interaction, attention and routine that school provides.

Carisa Arbogash (Wausau, 2020-08-10)

#788

kids need socialization and in person teaching to grow.

Mary Terry (Wausau, 2020-08-10)

#789

I am signing because I have seen , and continue to see, the struggle of our 8 year old grand daughter due to educational decisions made in the spring and now into this new school year. The local, extremely low, Covid 19 death numbers do not warrant such extreme measures.

JUANDA Howe (Merrill, 2020-08-10)

#793

My children deserve an education provided in schools by teachers who have made a career of teaching.

Yvonne Scheffler (Wausau, 2020-08-11)

#794

My kids need to get back to school. They both tell me they don't want virtual learning again.

Katina Rusch (Wausau, 2020-08-11)

#797

Virtual will not work at our home. We live in the country and lack of high speed internet makes it impossible for my kids to attend school online. Not to mention the depression and anxiety my kids have been experiencing the last 5 months.

Melanie Stroming (Wausau, 2020-08-11)
