I live close by, walk the ravine and have seen the various wildlife that will be displaced. Where will they go, Colleen Jordan? Burnaby doesn't have to be the "BIGGEST" city. There are lots of areas that are not populated where the influx of people coming in to B.C. can live. Burnaby is not the only place. We do not have to be bursting at the seams. Leave some of the wonderful green spaces that were an attraction to some of us long-time residents who chose to live here a long time ago! I guess it all comes down to greed and money.

We are developing way too much of our mainland green space! Eventually there will be no natural vegetation or wild life.
Many of these areas are developing on greed and no thought is put into the future consequences to the natural environmental balance.

I live near the area, drive past it every day, walk my dog in the adjacent Byrne Creek Ravine and have always dreamed the city would open that area as part of the park. I understand housing is an issue, but forest areas and parks are also needed! This is beautiful land that would be demolished.

This Creek should not be disturbed. It is salmon habitat. This is also beautiful park land, that many of us run and hike regularly. It's a precious resource for our community, please do not diminish the size of the park. Please, do not disturb the salmon stream.

I'm signing because I grew up in Burnaby and I continue to visit the city's green spaces. I bring students to Byrne Creek to experience nature and witness the diversity of species in the area. Animals need habitats and green corridors. Token trees planted for a development do not constitute an ecosystem. This forest is irreplaceable. This forest is beyond monetary value. Stanley Park was designated a park at a time when much of the surrounding area was still lush with trees. Today's politicians seem not to have the same foresight, wisdom and courage.

It would be very sad to see this parkland disappear. We used to live on Southpoint Drive. When we first moved in the lower quarry area hadn't been developed yet. There was tons of wildlife there. You could hear the packs of coyotes, we had raccoons on our patio. You could hear the bullfrogs and crickets. I think we've taken enough of their habitat away. They need to have a place to live too. We still need green space as it's quickly disappearing. Please don't sell the property.

division of the forests only decreases the chances of survival for all the wildlife. the city of Burnaby likes to pride its self on wildlife and park protection but they do not protect enough large conifers and conifer areas for the type of wildlife that need them. they don't seem to realize that in order to thrive the populations of wildlife need more room just like people

We do not need any more development in our neighbourhood - there are already far too many properties and residents in a very small area. Taylor Park School is overloaded.
Traffic flow is becoming dangerous due to narrow streets and continuous need for parking in the area.
Losing more green-space for high density housing is not a wise plan for our environment. I thought this was a protected space because of a referendum during municipal elections a few years ago?

I am signing this as I live in the neighbourhood and strongly feel that this forested area should not be touched for various reasons that the council already knows. This council is hell bent on amassing money without giving much thought to the consequences. A clear example is the Metrotown area. PLEASE at least leave the forested areas of Byrne Woods Park alone.

Human encroachment in wilderness areas will be the ultimate demise of our planet. Save as many trees as possible in already established forested areas NOW! Trees provide humans with the very air we breathe! Trees purify the air as well as filtering groundwater. Trees help lower ground temperatures and prevent soil and land erosion. Trees provide shade, shelter, food for waaaaaay more species than just humans. Trees are also self-aware making them sentient beings.So don't chop them down!

I realize that 'some' may use the excuse that the only people complaining are the those living in the most recently developed areas in South Burnaby. Like Wendy Taylor, I live in the area of Byrne Creek Ravine Park but I admit being not only upset but down right angry about Colleen Jordan insinuating that because WE have housing here and WE are happy here that NO ONE ELSE is welcome. This is not only ridiculous, but also embarrassing that Ms. Jordan, the chair of the city's commitee for planning and development, would consider this a thought in our minds. Our collective thought, whether we live in the area or not, is the protection of the environment and all the wonderful life within it. This park is shared by residents of Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond and many other surrounding cities alike. I have met numerous International visitors, refugees, and landed immigrants awaiting citizenship while walking my dog through this beautiful protected area and boasted about that fact to many..."I call it my mini-Stanley Park because I know it will always be here for me to enjoy". So...if you want to know why I am signing this petition...other than refusing to allow Colleen Jordan and Lou Pellitier to turn me into a liar, I care deeply about my environment, specifically Byrne Creek Ravine Park and the Barred Owls within. All you have to do is check out my Instagram and you will see how many photos I have taken of my dog in the park, the owls at different stages of growth, the Woodpeckers, the Stellar's Jays and other beautiful creatures of the forrest. THIS is MY reason for signing this petition Ms. Jordan. I can only hope that you are listening and that the company providing the 'Environmental Assessment' on behalf of the successful bidder, which in my opinion is a conflict of interest, actually does come to the job focused and with an unbiased opinion rather than focused on the dollar amount they will be receiving from this very profitable transaction. Thank you for this opportunity Wendy. I appreciate your strength and commitment to our beautiful park and all the life within it.
