Downtown life needs to be diverse, fun and creative. If you don't like noise don't live in a place that is a cultural center.(Macon, 2016-12-02)

I'm a musician and music lover. Macon's rich musical heritage is being held up by great musicians downtown. Having the ability to have more liberty for the musicians means they will be able to make the much needed funds to continue to refine their art. This sort of business minded progression will only help to strengthen our artistic community and reinforce the vitality that Macon's music scene has; thus, continuing the excellent music heritage we have. Building upon this foundation can and will create a scene that will engender tourism and more opportunity for revenue and prosperity.(Macon, 2016-12-01)

Some of the best live music I've ever seen has come out of Macon. This ordinance is the legislative equivalent of a dementor. Let downtown keep its soul.(Gordon, 2016-12-02)

Music matters and the public should have the choice! We are from MACON and often desire to come to events there but coming from out of town means getting there late. It doesn't make it worth our while to come knowing things are over so early(Monroe, 2016-12-02)

Because I am a musician and I completely agree with changing the noise ordinance. 9 PM is way too early during the week. It should be at least 10 or even 11. The weekend should be 12 or 1(Macon, GA, 2016-12-02)
#662

I used to live in Huntsville Alabama and this was an issue with our entertainment districts and downtown. People would move into the high rise and expensive energetically district housing, knowing full well that they were living in the heart of the entertainment areas of the city and were systematically complaining about the usual things that always happened in these areas. Not fraudulent misbehavior of any kind. The lawfully sanctioned events that were completely within the legal right to exist. So much so that a city wide movement formed, based off of demanding an allowed noise decimal level within these areas at any time. Even the governor of the state (who is hated by all people who Katrina these areas and events) put his foot down on the situation and decreed that any further complaints on any of these sanctioned events that get noise tested by undercover officers for the decibel level to me within the allowed level, would be evicted from the housing they lived in. So I say to these same people: you are no different from these people and this situation is no different, so you deserve treatment that is not different. Anyone complaining about any sanctioned event for noise and that event ID found to be completely within its legal right should be evicted from their homes. If you can afford to live downtown and complain about downtown BEING ITSELF, you can afford to live somewhere else as well.(Los Angeles, 2016-12-03)

I go to Macon every year for the Georgia Allman Brothers Band Association's annual music festival, which features concerts and live local music, and I also visit for concerts held in venues like The Douglass and Cox Capital Theatres. Macon is a music mecca for music lovers from all over the USA and as far away as Japan and Amsterdam. I believe Macon would do well to embrace it's own heritage and let the music play.(Cedar Lake, IN, 2016-12-03)
#695
Came inches close to opening a Music Café / Shop / School on the beautiful main street Downtown Macon a few years ago. This ordinance is a ridiculous eye roller for Macon; downright ignorant. What's Macon without Music ? May as well shut her down completely then. What would be the "draw" without Music hours matching Bar Hours ? Never heard of anything so foolish for the economy of Macon.(New York City, 2016-12-03)
#699
we have made so much progress in and around the downtown area. music and art have a life and a part of the continued growth of the arts and the business of the areas of growth. radiating and growing in ever expanding areas. keep up the good work(macon, 2016-12-03)

Taking away the music scene (at anytime of the night) in the downtown Macon, or anywhere in general, is just absurd. Not only is it a historical factor of what makes Macon great, but probably the biggest attraction that brings people to Macon. How can you put a curfew on art? Shame on anyone who backs this idea.(Eatontom, 2016-12-03)
#707

I'm signing this because I think it's rediciulous to try and make business in downtown Macon stop music at 11:00pm. Y'all, the powers that be want business to come to downtown to make it great again but want to put restrictions on them. Do you think that people who work hard for their money will come to downtown Macon and risk the party be over at 11 because y'all don't want music. I will drive to Atlanta to spend my money before I go to downtown Macon. Hadn't Macon lost enough already. The Macon Braves, The Sports Museum, Rock Hall of Fame. What made Macon Great anyway. MUSIC !!!! Little Richard, Otis Redding, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elvis, and let's not forget one of the Greatest Bands to Ever call Macon Home. The Allman Brothers Band. So shut Music down at 11p because the so called socialites of Macon is pushing this then we go somewhere else and spend money and will remember all y'all at election time. Macon can't afford to lose Money like that. And what is it said that later it will be amended to include all of Macon Bibb co. Y'all , the powers that be want to build new town Macon , mostly black neighborhoods and build houses, sidewalks, pave streets and spend all this tax payer money and then tell us if we go downtown we gotta not have music after 11. Who is the genius that brought this bullcrap up? Haven't our city co. Gov't lost enough from downtown Macon. What happens if Mercer shuts down the cox Capitol theatre. No more money from that. Look at the Macon Colisrum, when was the last time a nice concert was held there? Y'all better get your heads out of your asses.(Macon, 2016-12-05)
