Comments

#407

They deserve their hall back. It is the place that holds their memories and should be the place where new ones are created

Jill Reed (Wexford, 2023-04-15)

#409

Yes other renters might make the council a little more revenue BUT scouts make the community the council is meant to be serving. Give it back, it is the decent thing to do and you know it.

Helen Edwards (Amersham, 2023-04-15)

#410

what is happening uis an absolute disgrace, scouting is the heart of a community and as a council you should be supportive of such a worth while cause within the community of tullow.

Scouting is inclusive to all and what the Council is doing is not only wrong it's very unscout like.

As Baden Powell once said ... the most worth while thing is to try put happiness in the life of others.

David kessie (Kildare, 2023-04-15)

#411

Children are our future and Scouts plays such an important role in shaping them. By evicting this Scout Group you are preventing them from preparing children to become useful citizens of tomorrow.

Gemma McDonald (Bordon, 2023-04-15)

#412

I’m signing because I’m a scout leader and know how important these places are for scouts, the history.
Scouts help each other when in need and what the council is doing is wrong!

Scouts provide a valuable youth service where government has cut to the bone

John Doran (London, 2023-04-15)

#422

I am a cub scout leader. This is wrong. Why didn't the council pay for the repairs.. if they are not allowed back in then they should be reimbursed. Whatever was the rent being paid going towards!!

Susan Fox (Kettering, 2023-04-15)

#430

Important for the area

#433

Scouting gives young people in the local area a chance to discover themselves, to explore and challenge themselves and become a valued member of the local community. By taking away their meeting place you are depriving young people of this opportunity.

Paul Williams (Coventry, 2023-04-15)

#434

The scout group is important to help young people of all ages with their lifeskills.

Diane Hodder (YORK, 2023-04-15)

#435

Its for the kids, we need this building to run our program properly. The group are suffering & leaders are getting frustrated trying to run meetings where we are. We are grateful for the use of the building we are using now but it's not suitable.

Paul Byrne (CARLOW, 2023-04-15)

#439

The scouts is a wonderful organisation run by volunteers who dedicate their time energy and efforts into improving young people’s lives they should be supported by their local communities and councils to continue this tireless work

Tim Wakefield (Chesterfield, 2023-04-15)

#441

As a volunteer in a scout group in Kildare where something similar is happening, I am adding my voice to the many others who have signed this petition to request Carlow Co. Council revisit their decision and allow the Tullow scout group back into the premises they worked so hard to upgrade.

Andrew Brennan (Kildare, 2023-04-15)

#442

Not all kids are into sports, Scouts are some kids only activities. This is not only happening in Tullow and it needs to stop. Think of the kids now and in the future, allow them have a future in Tullow.

Deborah Bonnie (Co. Kildare, 2023-04-15)

#444

My daughter was a scout and they should be supported as a group that have a very positive effect on our children

Will Canavan (Carlow, 2023-04-15)

#445

The young people and volunteer scouters need everyones support in providing a safe secure premises to continue to work with the young people in the community.

Elaine Whelan (Kildare, 2023-04-15)

#447

The council should be supporting the youth groups!

Alex Stokes (Tullow, 2023-04-15)

#448

Children need tge scouts & scouts need a den

Veronica Ronan (Tullow, 2023-04-15)

#449

I feel disgusted that the council could treat such an amazing community group in this way. To take facilities away from youngsters, who have fund raised and improved the facilities is criminal.

Tracey Stevens (Uckfield, 2023-04-15)

#452

The Scouts are an important part of the Community. They need their Den to provide a space to meet and plan activities for the young people in the area.

Victoria Buckley (Kilcullen, 2023-04-15)

#453

This Council is not acting in a way that is in keeping with its core function - to support local youth services. It is effectively taking to itself the costly improvements made over years, and from which it will benefit. The whole situation is completely unethical and should be actually an illegal grab of others' assets.

Richard Wright (Seaford, 2023-04-15)

#454

The Youth of our Country are our future, and Scouting is a positive way to encourage them

Adrian Devlin (Cookstown, 2023-04-16)

#455

Scouts is a wonderful opportunity for young people and should be supported by local councils, especially when they have spent so much on maintenance!

Tina Elliott (SEAFORD, 2023-04-16)

#456

Young people need places to go there are no youth clubs or anything youth related these days scouting provides skills for life.

Roy Field (Brierley hill, 2023-04-16)

#460

My son has been in the Scout movement in many capacities and has gained so much and want many more young people to benefit

Pat Morgan (Bridgwater, 2023-04-16)

#463

The scouting movement gives opportunities to young people from all so io economic groups that is vital for their development. I do not believe that it is fair or acceptable that’s council should be able to deny access to a building that the group has funded so heavily to renovate without good cause or an acceptable alternative venue being provided.

Trudy Arkinstall (Ottery St Mary, 2023-04-16)

#465

What the Scout's do for
Young people.

Terry Lear (Gillingham Kent, 2023-04-16)

#466

As a scouter in another province this sounds like a terrible loss to the young people of the community. Hope it can be resolved.

Sharon Keane (Galway, 2023-04-16)

#471

I’m signing it due to the fact there is very little space in tullow for any group to call there home. This would be great for the Scouts. As they already put so much into it. Why leave it unattended and not used when there are groups out there that need it.

Liam Carroll (Carlow, 2023-04-16)

#472

Because as a scouter I see the great work these leaders do for the young people.
The hours ,The planning and time away from their own families.
The need and deserve a home for the group to continue.

Linda Kilmurry (Balbriggan, 2023-04-16)

#474

I'm signing because the Scouts should get their den back. The Scout Group offer great support to young people locally to learn skills for life and to be good citizens of Britain

Gillan Barnard (Harrow, 2023-04-16)

#475

I am a Scout Leader. I believe scouting is important and should be supported by councils for the good of the children in the local community.

Mrs Janice Hardwick (Bridlington, 2023-04-16)

#477

The work The people have put in to the building and not least the time they give to the scouts is forgotten when greed raises its ugly head.

Carole Maher (Dublin, 2023-04-17)

#478

The Scouts have tried their hardest to maintain a building that wasn't their responsibility to. The council have been happy to take a rent from them, and now being evicted. Are they going to be offered a like for like alternative?

Lyn Wouldham (Braintree, 2023-04-17)

#480

It is important to support volunteers and children involved in the activity and promote it's success while recognising the important and positive contribution it makes to the young people of Tullow and surrounding areas.

MARIA CAHILL (Carlow, 2023-04-17)

#481

this conduct is unjust

richard dillon (dublin, 2023-04-17)

#484

I suport the scouts

Pamela Bryan (Dublin 3, 2023-04-17)

#486

Scouting is run by local volunteer leaders who give selflessly of their time to support local children and teenagers to develop into responsible young adults and it has diverted many a young adult from antisocial behavior. . The den is required for these activities and is necessary and should be supported by the local authority.

Martina Blake (Kilcullen, 2023-04-17)

#487

Having raised and spent a fortune on maintaining a building, it is sharp practice and leaves a bad taste that a local authority should act in this highly disreputable way! One of the local authorities duties is to support youth provision which they are blatantly failing to do.
This smacks of a very corrupt and dodgy set of councillors who certainly aren’t working in the interests of their local community!
It stinks!

Peter Sword (Birmingham, 2023-04-17)

#488

As a fellow scout leader and mother of children scouts I fully support the scouting movement and all good scout endeavours to make healthy and happy our children

Niamh Lawlor (Galway, 2023-04-17)

#489

Very unfair of CC

heather burnett niland (Dublin, 2023-04-17)

#490

Disgraceful behaviour of the council.

Dave Chaplin (Preston, 2023-04-17)

#494

I support the scouting mivememt

Henry Milne (Newtownards, 2023-04-17)

#496

The tullow scouts have put so much work into this building they spent so much money and time fixing everything only to loose everything.

Fiona Dunbar Kennedy (Carlow, 2023-04-17)

#497

Scouts provide an invaluable resource for the community, how many young people have passed through their doors. The council should be bending over backwards to support the scout group not hindering them. Not to mention allowing the group to spend, what is a huge amount of money to a volunteer group, on repairs and improvements only to oust the kids the first chance they got. Disgusting and disgraceful behaviour. Shame on Carlow County Council, remember who you're supposed to be working for.

Mary Kelly (Kilkenny, 2023-04-17)

#498

Scouts are a fantastic way for children to be children, learn how to socialise outside of school, learn discipline, respect andself sufficiency. It is disgraceful that the council would do away with renting this facility that has obviously been maintained and upgraded by this group without the help of the council.

Februarie Crooke (Athy, 2023-04-17)

#502

The group should have their building back it is helping young people as scouting is excellent.

Val Butcher (Oxfordshire, 2023-04-18)

#503

This is ridiculous. What a terribly way to treat those in your community - especially given they’re volunteers and children!

Emily Dicker (Bognor Regis, 2023-04-18)

#508

Scouts deserve a home especially when they have invested in the building when no one else would.

Daragh Owens (Galway, 2023-04-19)

#509

I am Signing this Peterson being a fellow Scout leader. These Scouts want their Den back to continue the amazing work that they do with their members

Tracey Knight (Hockley, 2023-04-19)

#511

Supporting a fellow scout group and I know the investment and work going into maintaining a group and hall. Along with other charity and volunteer organisations they are being priced out and may not even be able to find somewhere to move to and we could end up losing a prominent community group if they cannot stay.

James Smith (North Shields, 2023-04-19)

#513

The scouts need a place to go
It’s a great place for kids

Celine Maher (Carlow, 2023-04-20)

#514

I believe that the youth of any community should have somewhere to meet , enjoy and develope.

Rick Cooper (Norwich, 2023-04-20)

Carlow county council and the members of the council have a obligation to 5th Tullow Scouts this is a community building its zone for community use two thirds of the council elected members must vote for change of zoning of this building, the have used building for last 11years
lobby your council demand them two use there executive power in support of there local scout group

JOHN BUTLER (athlone, 2023-04-23)

#525

Scouting benefits so many kids from every backround. Helping makes them independent, practical & critical thinkers. It should be supported as much as possible.

Jennifer Rath (Tinryland, 2023-04-24)

#526

Scouts supporting each other

Elaine Kelly (Hollymount, 2023-04-24)

#529

5th Tullow deserve their hall back.... their community commitment cannot go unappreciated

Emily McCann (18 Bloomfield, 2023-04-25)

#532

The Scouts need their den back

Steve McDermott (Shercock, 2023-04-30)

#534

As the Scouts have proved to be good custodians of the building, upgrading at there own expense. It is only right that such a dedicated community group, be allowed to continue to set an example of the importance of Local government support in the Community.

Andrew O'Brien (Limerick, 2023-05-02)

#535

Tullow scouts need to have a Den and if they had invested money and time into maintainance prior to Council evicting them, they should be allowed back into the premises.

Niamh Fullam-Uí Mhathúna (Cork, 2023-05-06)

#536

I am a scout mother

Fergal Cronin (Dublin 3, 2023-05-17)

#537

The scouts deserve their den back. It's a disgrace that the council could do this to the children

Yvonne Lallu (Meath, 2023-10-08)

#538

I know the amazing benefit to the young people in a community that a well run scout group can have. Giving this amazing scout group the security of having there own den back will ensure the benefits to Carlow for years to come
