I’m singing because we do not want multi family housing in our neighborhood. The infrastructure does not support it and will devalue everyones property values. We choose to move to Hanahan because of the small town feel. We did not want to deal with the traffic, over population and crime of comparable communities. Do not ruin one of the best communities in the Charleston area buy letting greed and out of state corporations destroy our safe quiet community. Bring more local business instead. If this happens I will sell my home. I planned on raising our family in this community, but will sell before my property is devalued. That’s how strongly my family feels about this!

Hanahan is sorely lacking retail, dining, and entertainment venues. The surrounding area of our small community is vastly industrial with the closest real retail/dining locale in Park Circle, which is Charleston County. This property would be put to much better use supporting small, family owned businesses and attracting foot traffic from the existing surrounding neighborhoods. More apartments will lower home values, add to already congested roads, and further strain Hannah’s already limited resources.

There's absolutely no need to grant multi-unit use. The land has been available for years ready for the owner to develop as single family use. The land owner is all about greed or he would not seek to develop multi-unit property in such a warm and beautiful neighborhood. It's purely an opportunistic move that will negatively impact the lives of all Tanner Hall and Tanner Plantation home owners and their families.

Our Hanahan community, including Mayor Christie Rainwater should block this move as it does not put Hanahan residents first. She could equally test the land owners integrity by blocking any additional multi-family zoning in the area for 10-15 years. This proactive move would show that Hanahan puts families ahead of land developers profits. Additionally, the timeframe would encourage greedy developers to build single-family dwellings as originally intended.

I live in Tanner Plantation and it is already too crowed for our infrastructure. The fire department is only 2-3 firefighters at each station and we don’t have the man power to support this new construction. Also, the roads are already backed up from all the traffic in Tanner Plantation not to mention those that use us as a cut through to 526. Low income apartments will bring property values down and bring in more issues that we don’t need in our community. The one school we have in Tanner plantation is already crowded.
