It's totally unsafe for me as a teacher and for our learners to leave the safety of our homes. We move the virus moves. Schools are definitely not geared to stop the spread. In fact opening schools will help spread the virus even faster.

#489

Kids are not suppose to go back to school , this year calender should b cancelled rather the government start strategizing for next year. No child of mine will go back to school I refuse, I know school is imported but my childrens life is more imported. In other countries lockdown started in December n their kids never went to school , coz they understand the importance of life n safety. #safety first

I don't believe it is safe for my children to be sent back to school. They are too young to understand that they need to stay away from their friends and keep a mask on.

I don't feel that the public schools sanitization methods are in place and will not be correctly enforced. The children will be exposed to the virus and run a greater risk of contracting the virus.

Andrea Gainsford (Queenstown, 2020-04-29)

Ayanda Makwenkwe (Port Elizabeth , 2020-04-29)

#523

Please my daughter has asthma...I will have no choice but to keep her at home when schools open next week. I'm not risking my child's life. Consider leaving schools closed until after we reached the peak. Thank you

Amanda Jansen (Kzn, 2020-04-29)

#524

It really doesn’t make sense to restrict adults to go public but permit learners to go to school. Life comes before education for my child, I’m comfortable with her taking a gap year as opposed to them being exposed to a disease

Mathapelo Mphahlele (Polokwane , 2020-04-29)

#527

Not going to put my childs life in danger of getting the corona virus.

Lee Swartz (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#528

My daughter had many lung issues and should she get corona it could be fatal. NO WAY i am sending her to school. Her school has also be doing online classes. This should just continue where possible!!!

Sunet Du Preez (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#530

I'm signing because, Covid 19 needs social distances and our classes have over 60 learners and no cleaners to do sanitisation and level 4 lockdown doesn't allow gathering of more than 50 people. But schools have thousands of learners excluding teachers and non teaching staff. It will be a disaster to infect millions of people in our country. No to opening of schools

Thembisile Mpunzana (Durban, 2020-04-29)

#531

Because my grands child's life is very very important to me . He can rather repeat a grade. But no one can repeat a life. God gives you one life and we must take care of it.

I do not agree with the urgent re opening of school approach...I cant risk my 3 kids being out there with a pandemic like this...They are safer at home.

Kaylene Williams (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#538

I have 2 children in primary xul and 2 in highschool ..sending them back to xul is not an option considering social distancing and other aspects ...it's not safe at all not only for my kids bt 4 all the kids

Olivia Juma (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#541

Students can't follow the rules covid 19, they will get virus very fast n spread it very fast

Md Hossain Mosarof (Germiston, Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#542

It is still not safe enough for our children to resume school while the COVID-19 figures are rising day by day. Children don't understand social distancing.

Juanita Pretorius (Polokwane, 2020-04-29)

#549

I think the virus will spread too much at school n learners will definitely not practice social distancing

Bongiwe Pelembe (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#554

I'm signing because, my life and the lives of children are important! Corpses cannot be taught nor can they teach!

Andrea Adams (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#555

I'm signing because it is too dangerous for kids to go back to school what if someone has it and infects everybody

Hannetjie Van Wyk (Rustenburg, 2020-04-29)

#557

I an an educator and know how difficult it is to control social distancing in a classroom with 42 learners. Controlling during intervals woll be even worse. Allthis and other health factors will add to teachers already working under pressure.

Diane Lewin (Cape town, 2020-04-29)

#558

Im signing because i have kids in schools. And noway can they ever go back. Not with the numbers increasing. My son has asthma. How can they even suggest 2 kids to a desk. The Government wants to kill this nation. Its a plan of theres. Get children infected, take it home to there parents who are not at work yet, its like a scary plot. How can they ever play with lives of kids. #SAYNOTOSCHOOLSOPENING

Faatima Gani (Pietermaritzburg , 2020-04-29)

#559

It is ridiculous for kids to back to school while the numbers of infections are going up, it shows that we are heading for disaster.
We cannot go to church, to the park, to visit relatives, gatherings are only limited to 50 people, to pop in to say hi to a sick neighbour, ect ect. but kids are expected to go back to school? This is just absurd.

Gugu Sibeko (Gauteng , 2020-04-29)

#563

Number of people that dying still increase aswel as people that have been tested positive also increased, so how do you expect children to be out there among each other in a situation that we can't control yet.

Thobile Pinky Mkhize (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#564

My child is being exposed to being infected. Its far too early to send children to school.

Hans-Jorg Bunke (Alberton , 2020-04-29)

#565

I will not subject my kids to the distraction and emotional stress of maintaining a constant safe distance and with the fear that, not only could they potentially be carriers and infect others, but that they themselves could fall deathly ill.

Whilst I understand that not everyone is in a position for remote learning, I would like to propose that those who are able and willing to homeschool and that promise to commit to the full monthly school fees for support, be given a choice to keep kids home.

In doing so, it may alleviate classroom congestion and allow more room for social distancing.

Candice Hoekstra Klue (Cape Town , 2020-04-29)

#568

I am sighning because it doesn't make sense on how our kids can go to school in this time where the the level of infection of people and deaths are so high ...and there will be 40 kids in a class that is really a breathing place for the virus and we don't know who the kids and family members was in contact with ... Believe that this is going to be a disaster ...my children's health is very important

Janine Norris (Cape Town, 2020-04-30)

#569

I think it is in itself a disaster looking at conditions on our education system

Ngesh Nodada (Buffalo City , 2020-04-30)

#571

My kids are my life

Geraldene Vaughan (Rustenburg, 2020-04-30)

#572

I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, the infection rate is increasing every day. ECD will not be able to facilitate social distancing or hand sanitizing. Children love to hug and play and would go against the norm of school. Little kids most likely live with a elderly person, they could just carry the virus home.

Shakeerah Diedericks (Cape Town , 2020-04-30)

#573

I'm signing because I'm deeply concerned about the safety of children and educators. The spread of the disease is at it's peak during the winter season

It is unsafe. I cannot put my child's life in danger.

Reshika Emrith (Benoni, 2020-04-30)

#581

I'm signing because the Government has taken this decision very lightly. Rate of infection is growing rapidly, and it is not safe to send children back to school.

Nwabisa Makiwane (Pretoria , 2020-04-30)

#582

I'm signing because It is not the time to send kids back to school. I will not put my children's life at stake for anyone.
Government is making a really bad decision.

Joanne Stent (Durban, 2020-04-30)

#583

My Grand daughter has major chest problems and due to this she can't return in 2020. And whoever agreed that kids return to school for 2020 during this pendemic facing us must realy be stupid or elitarate. Sign Mrs SE Mentoor

Shireen Evril Mentoor (Port Elizabeth , 2020-04-30)

#584

The facilities put in place at school are not adequate enough to deal with the masses of children returning back to school as public schools are generally overpopulated, children are put on the front lines which primarily put them at risk. Elderly teachers are also at risk

Octavian Smith (Queenstown, 2020-04-30)

#585

I don't agree of children being sent back to school while the number of COVID19 cases increases everyday

Nompumelelo Barnes (Empangeni, 2020-04-30)

#586

How can you expect to stop this pandemic if we send our most valuable posessions and the future of South Africa into a war zone where we cannot see the enemy? How can we send our children to sxhool and we are not even allowed to go and see our family? How are they (the government) going to keeo the children save?

Gerda Roos (Roodepoort , 2020-04-30)

#587

Cant let children go to school, with the corona epedemic, our children are not ginea pigs, its not save, and i wont let my child go to school

Ansie Kotze (Fochville, 2020-04-30)

#589

Because sending our kids back to school is risking their life .... I think it's ridiculous... Our babies are small and what if they get the virus ... This is not a good option to send them back so soon after lockdown when we have so many deaths an cases
