This says everything about the management skills of the Post Office that they summarily sack an excellent postman who was such a good ambassador for the Post Office. Whoever was responsible for this decision needs to be retrained. You do not create loyalty by instilling fear in your workforce.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-05)
#402
You couldn't get a more dedicated or caring postman. Total and utter loss to the town.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-02)
#404
I am outraged by this. Jimmy is a lovely, cheerful and most importantly helpful postman and what a disgrace it would be if he wasn't reinstated.(Bathealton, 2016-12-05)
#405
Why? No damage or injury caused, reinstate jim(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-02)
#407
Having meet the man whilst staying with friends, a nicer man you would be hard to meet. He often looks out for the frail and elderly during his rounds and always has a smile for everyone. having served this community for over 27 years the stance of the Royal mail just goes to show the contempt they hold their staff. Yes it was an accident. No one injured or damage occurred. Yet they say someone could have been killed. It rolled a metre or so? really who was at the " crime scene" to measure. Just another conglomerate trying to belittle an employee and oust him from from the love of his Job and his pride of being well respected in this close community. Think about it ROYAL MAIL the way you treat staff the royal cypher should be removed because of your petty minded bureaucrats.(Ivybridge, 2016-12-05)
#409
Although I'm not lucky enough to have Jim serve as my postman, I believe he's a credit to Royal Mail and all of Wiveliscombe.(Chester, 2016-12-05)
#410
Because he is a nice guy who works hard and he has been treated disgustingly. It could happen to anyone. Great Guy Jimmy.(Taunton, 2016-12-05)
#412
The "punishment does not fit the crime" The Post Office are being total "ar**holes . This man has a wife who is Very dependant on him and he is a very valued member of our community. He neither needs or deserves to loose his job especially at this time of year over such a trivial matter. Politicians have committed far worse crimes and remained in office(Taunton, 2016-12-05)
#413
We are all human and make mistakes, even dare I say post office management are fallable so do the decent thing and give the poor chap his job back(Taunton, 2016-12-05)
#414
I am signing this because I believe the punishment is too harsh. Posited are under time constraints to deliver and at times everybody makes mistakes. Fortunately nobody was injured. Some other sanction like a letter on his file or a reprimand would be more appropriate.(Milverton, 2016-12-05)
#416
Our loyal Postmanm has been treated disgracefully by the Post Office employers. He should be reinstated iin his own job in his own town immediately. He has been caused unwarranted distress, and deserves a huge apology.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-05)
#418
local resident supporting local postman(Taunton, 2016-12-05)
#419
absurd decision given that we all make mistakes & no-one was injured despite years of good service.(Huish Champflower, 2016-12-05)
#422
I'm signing because Jim is one of the most trustworthy and hardworking people I know and should not be sacked for one mistake where no damage or harm was caused. Get a grip Royal Mail - everyone makes mistakes!(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-04)
#423
the royal mail make many more mistakes(wellington, 2016-12-05)
#424
If this is at it seems, give him another chance.(taunton, 2016-12-05)
#425
What a poor way to treat a person, at Christmas of all times. Give him his job back you heartless swine!(Somerset, 2016-12-05)
#427
I'm appalled at how our lovely postie Jim has been treated by Royal Mail. It is a disgrace, how on earth can someone be sacked because he "could" have caused injury. That is like sending someone to prison in case "they may" kill someone at some point. Totally ludicrous, and very much unfair dismissal. Jim is a lovely man, always smiling, cheerful, helpful and efficient, he is very good at his job and it is totally unacceptable the way Royal Mail have treated him. He should be reinstated, end of.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-05)
#428
Jim is a wonderful human being, always cheerful, and someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty. I am incensed that Royal Mail should dismiss Jim; words cannot describe how angry we feel as a family about the appalling, inhumane decision taken by Royal Mail. The jobsworth who decided on this course of action should be sacked, NOT, repeat NOT Jim.(Milverton, Somerset, 2016-12-05)
#430
It's wrong(Wellington, 2016-12-06)
#431
Jim is a brilliant example of a community postman; he cares about the community he lives & works in & that makes him a valuable asset both for us & whoever he works for.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-05)
#432
He was honest to admit his mistake(taunton, 2016-12-06)
#433
John Ray(TA4 2NQ, 2016-12-05)
#434
Jim is a good postman and part of the town. If his only offence was to leave the handbrake off, I'm sure he will have learned his lesson and not do it again.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-06)
#435
Jim is a decent person that doesn't deserve this, the person that made the decision should be out of work as they are obviously not capable of doing their job properly.(Taunton, 2016-12-06)
#437
I moved from Wiveliscombe one year ago. Jim is a caring and thoughtful person who goes the extra mile and looks out for the elderly on his round(Ruishton, Taunton, 2016-12-06)
#438
This is an honest and regular guy who is being ill treated and deserves everybody's support, especially at this time of year.(Ruishton, Taunton, 2016-12-06)
#439
wonderful chap- first in Milverton and now in Wivvy(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-06)
#440
To dismiss Jim, a postman for 27 years with an exemplary conduct and attendance record, for gross misconduct because of a minor traffic accident in which no-one was injured and no-one complained, begs the question- how do they treat their staff who really behave badly? The investigation has been appallingly conducted (they didn't even get their facts right) and in a vindictive and nasty manner. Who sacks a family man just before Christmas on such flimsy grounds?(Bampton, 2016-12-06)
#441
He is the most friendly, trustworthy ,hardworking, person I know and that is the kind of person that Royal Mail needs facing the public.(Taunton, 2016-12-06)
#443
He as morals and values and who I would welcome on my team - Royal Mail sort yourself out and get real(Okehampton, 2016-12-06)
#444
Jim is an excellent postie and a well liked and respected member of the community. He is the best of Royal Mail, and should be reinstated.(Milverton, 2016-12-05)
#446
Jim is far and away the best postie that we have ever had and although his round did not include our address recently we still miss him. Royal Mail should really stop and consider what on earth it is that they are doing. Rather than sack him on a technicality they should be elevating him to the position of a role model and exemplar for all posties. He is efficient, friendly in the extreme, caring and a generally all round good chap. They should either reinstate him immediately or make him an official ambassador for Royal Mail.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-07)
#447
I've known Jim and his family for many years,he is always friendly & helpful & its a disgrace that Royal Mail took the action they did. Bring him back!(Wiveliscombe,Taunton, 2016-12-07)
#448
The consequence of Jim,s action should be judged on what actually happened not what might have been. A definite lack of judgment in management(Wiveriscombe, 2016-12-07)
#449
He is one of our fantastic rural postmen. He always has a smile and a cheery hello.(Taunton, 2016-12-07)

#455
the Royal Mail will not find a more friendly and reliable person than Jim Denslow 27 years of service cannot be thrown out on such a minor incident.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-08)
#456
Local & friendly postmen are a vital rural asset!(Wellington, 2016-12-08)

#462
Jim is a wonderful man and always a joy to see him, when he is working and around town. We all make mistakes and to sack him would be a terrible waste of a BRILLIANT POSTMAN.(Wellington, 2016-12-08)
#463
Jim is the best postman we have ever had. He is not only a fabulous ambassador for Royal Mail but he is a genuine person who did not deserve to be treated like this for what is a minor error.(Milverton, 2016-12-08)

27 years of loyalty to Royal Mail and they do this is shameful. 1 small mistake in 27 years!!!! Let him who is without sin on the Royal Mail management cast the 1st stone!(CITY OF EXETER, 2016-12-09)
#477

#486
Jim has had an exemplary record for 27 years and the way he has been treated is disgusting(Exeter, 2016-12-09)
#487
I believe it's cruel and unjust to fire someone for a silly mistake and especially before Christmas. I'm disgusted with Royal Mail. I hope they re-instate Jim.(Taunton, 2016-12-09)
#488
I believe this to be so unfair(Taunton, 2016-12-09)
#491
Great postie - always friendly and goes out of his way to be of help!(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-09)

#493
Jim is the best postman I have ever known(Wellington, 2016-12-08)

#501
Jim used to be our postman & is one of the nicest, most friendly & genuine people I know & doesn't deserve this sort of treatment for a minor incident(Taunton, 2016-12-09)
#503
Jim has been an excellent ambassador for the Post Office. His customer relations skills are terrific. To deprive an exemplary employee of his livelihood, particularly as Jim's wife suffers from MS and he is the sole bread-winner in the family.(Milverton, 2016-12-09)
#504
I believe the punishment does not fit the crime(Taunton, 2016-12-09)
#506
Everyone makes mistakes. Show compassion and reinstate Jim(Taunton, 2016-12-09)
#507
Jim is a caring, warm person who has served Wiveliscombe for many years. A warning should have sufficed in this instance.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-09)
#508
Because this is a ridiculous decision and the authorities need questioning on their employment policies. I am sure this would not stack up with a very good employment tribunal lawyer. Since moving to Wiveliscombe Mr Denslow has been a very trusting employed individual of the post office.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-09)
#509
Pretty much the embodiment of what everyone would hope their postie to be. Friendly, cheerful, thoughtful and dedicated to his job. A simple human error, disproportionately punished; a livelihood lost and a community all the poorer for it...where are the positives in that?(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-09)
#511
Jim epitomises all that a postman should be and is valued by everyone in the community.(Milverton, 2016-12-09)

#540
I think it's appalling that Royal Mail can treat a long standing postman this way. Shame on you.(Rotherham, 2016-12-09)

#552
Sacking opon unfair grounds(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-03)

#558
This sacking is disproportionate. Jim is an excellent postman and ambassador for The Royal Mail, and must be one of the best known and cheeriest faces seen in Wiveliscombe. He is part of our community. Please reinstate him!(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-09)
#559
this decision is perverse(london, 2016-12-10)

#566
A warning would be sufficient and the length of service this guy has given(Bridgwater, 2016-12-10)
#567
Punishment is to harsh. The employer has a range of options other than dismissal. Common sense should be applied . Why would anyone reasonable employer dismiss an employee with such a good record. It's madness.(Crawley, 2016-12-10)
#571
Always cheerful & helpful, disproportionate reaction.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-10)
#572
Im outraged at the treatment this person is being subjected to.(Cambridge, 2016-12-10)
#573
petty office types(Driffield, 2016-12-10)
#574
First of all as a former Postman in Taunton I know how most times you were rushing around to finish your round so leaving the handbrake off is understandable. Second, no damage was done to the other vehicle so being fired is completely over the top. I feel perhaps a verbal reprimand would have been sufficient. Then the public seem to be behind this young man so that in itself says a lot. Please reinstate him in his job because it is very hard having to face the daily routine and not a lot of people want to do it. Be thankful for what you got my friends. All the best Jim Denslow.(Smithville, 2016-12-09)
#576
Lovely polite and helpful man. Completely disproportionate punishment for a mistake.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-10)
#578
Jim was our postman for years before he was moved to our neighbouring village, We were so upset! Jim is the very best postman ever -- nothing was too much trouble for him, he helped old people, he always has a cheery smile.. he is the nicest and kindest man. He makes Postman Pat look bad! It is very shocking that Royal Mail have sacked this wonderful person because of ONE minor prang over 28 years of sterling service. And before Christmas, at that! He has a family! I have seen much more serious post van accidents, and the driver didn't lose his job! Could it be that RM is looking to sack postmen who are nearing 30 years service because their pensions would be 'too costly' for RM? What a disgrace! Come on, Scrooge --please reconsider the very bad decision to sack Jim and re-instate him promptly. You really got it wrong this time, and we are all very upset and sad for him.(Milverton, 2016-12-10)
#579
We want our beloved postie back!(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-10)
#580
Please bring Jim back.We all miss our friendly postman.
Doesn't deserve this harsh treatment.
(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-10)

#587
Fantastic postman, outstanding part of our community. Royal Mail should listen and reconsider.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-02)
#588
After 27 years service with a company that treats u like this the managers at royal mail should be hung . Disgusting treatment of an employee(taunton, 2016-12-11)
#589
I'm shocked at this news! For me Jim has epitomised the perfect postie. He was always friendly to everyone, never complaining, no matter how big the parcels were, and would often go out of his way to deliver the perfect service. Can't think of anything negative to say about such a genuine and considerate guy who made Royal Mail look fantastic in my eyes! He's a huge part of and asset to the community too. Please reconsider the unfair decision that resulted from the accident and give us our beloved postie back!
(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-11)
#590
This sounds like an unfair dismissal. Jim has my support.(Wiveliscombe, 2016-12-02)

#598
Jim is a loyal, trustworthy member of our community, a nicer man you could not wish to meet. Shame on you Royal Mail.(wiveliscombe, 2016-12-12)
#599
Never heard such nonsense, have the Royal Mail gone mad? Rooting for you Jim and hoping that we'll soon see you back on the beat.(wiveliscombe, 2016-12-12)
