I am concerned about Judge Frank’s decision! I am wondering whether NYC Medicare Advantage Plan will be worth signing on to or will GHI Senior Care be a better plan to stay with!

We were promised health care when we retired. How dare the powers that be push this totally inadequate plan!

I worked hard for 34 years, and I earned my healthcare. We earned low salaries, knowing we were getting these benefits.

I am a NYC retiree that worked hard for the city and accepted low wages to have better benefits. This was bargained for in our contracts and now the city is trying to screw us . I am disabled and count on my pension and benefits my medications are expensive enough I do not need additional co - pays added to my medical insurance. Mayor ADAMS as a NYC retiree from NYPD you should know the value of our medical benefits and as a retiree how we depend on our medical benefits to remain affordable.

As a retired NYC teacher and Principal of 36 years, I chose Medicare plus Senior Care so that I can have the option to choose my own doctors and hospitals without pre-approvals. Having had breast cancer surgery and knee replacement surgery, including on-going physical therapy at the best NYC hospitals, I cannot not imagine being cheated from this level of care in my old age when I need it most! I feel that our unions and Mayor played a game of Russian Roulette at the expense of the retirees who have devoted our lives to serving the students of NYC.

There are other ways for the City to save the funds than to break the promises made to its retirees.

This is not what I expected from NYC.. after being an essential service employee, for 33 years. If worked on the outside doing the same job I could’ve made more money, and not have to abide by New York City’s rules and regulations. I chose this job knowing I was going to be taken care of in my senior year’s

I believe all retirees and future retirees who worked for this city to serve and not get rich deserve at least free health care that is of quality not some subpar health care.

I am signing this petition, I was promised Medicare and GHI as my health insurance that would be paid by the City of New York without co-pays. The City is trying to save 600 million dollars a year on the backs of NY Medicare retirees.

I have been retired for 9 years. My husband and I are in our 70s, have multiple medical issues, and have used traditional Medicare and the Senior Care supplement for the past 6 years. If we had to wait for prior authorization for some of our procedures, we would both probably be dead. We opted out of the Advantage plan at the earliest opportunity. Luckily, we could afford to do so. I'm particularly worried about the thousands of retirees who cannot afford to keep the excellent plan we have now and/or do not understand the potential changes.

I worked for the NYC Dept. of Ed. for 33 years. During that time I was affected by wage freezes and penalties accessed by the City upon us. During the first half of my employment my salary was below that of surrounding communities. Expressing concerns regarding salary always concluded with being advised that those sacrifices at the start of my career would be compensated at the end of my career and retirement.
I carefully attended UFT consultations for years to provide proper planning for financial security for my family and myself. The shining light of that planning was the health benefits we would enjoy during a hopefully long retirement. Since my retirement income would be fixed, providing adequate financial security was a priority.
We are now being told that the health benefits we were promised and have been relied upon have been substantially compromised. Further, we have been advised by our health professionals against transferring into this new Advantage Plan. Opting to retain our past and current coverage would cost nearly $5,000, which was not conceived of nor planned for upon retirement.
It is an outrage that the City or the UFT would ever consider such threat to our financial well-being. Regardless of other proposals, those retirees wishing to remain in our existing should be permitted to do so without being coerced into paying additionally for what we have been promised and wish to continue without jeapardizing our health and financial security.
