Comments

#3802

Because it is my right to Permanent Position like any other social workers. we were promised permanent employment,,but its been a year we still stuck on NPOs. But the contract stepulated 6months. There still are no changes. i want change.

(Durban, 2019-11-28)

#3803

Am being over worked and feel exploited, too much administration worker other than the reasons why I bacame a social worker.

(JOHANNESBURG , 2019-11-28)

#3804

I feel that the social work profession in South Africa is been exploited and it is now gone too far. There are countless geaduates in this field including myself but there are no opportunities for us. It is now the time that the president listens to us and our concerns.

(Durban, 2019-11-29)

#3805

I signed this because the society needs our skills and expertise on a consistent basis. We are also the same caliber workers as reachers/nurses and the low salaries and abuse of making qualified registered SW again interns is an abomination.

(Port Elizabeth , 2019-11-29)

#3806

I fully agree with all the concerns raised in this petition. I am reluctant to leave my current post for my passion for social work because as a social work student I earn the same if not more than most qualified social workers.

(Springs, 2019-11-29)

#3807

I'm signing in because social work exploitation.

(Johannesburg, 2019-11-29)

#3808

I feel that we Social Auxiliary Workers working in NGO's for 10 years now without any benefits,we are not been taken serious,we do home visits and putting our lives at risk and when we die our kids benefit nothing. And the salary is not even enough that you can even save.We are mistreated by the NGO managers. We not happy at all.

(Ekurhuleni, 2019-11-29)

#3810

I'm place at a Non profit organization earning half of a DSD social worker salary.

(Durban, 2019-11-30)

#3812

(Durban , 2019-12-01)

#3813

Social Workers are expected to do so much, but is underpaid in comparison with other professions

(Cape Town, 2019-12-01)

#3814

I am signing because I need a job as it has been 7 years completed social auxiliary work qualification but without work opportunity and i can't afford to pay SACSSP every year as am unemployed.

(Phuthaditjhaba , 2019-12-01)

#3815

I am a Social Auxiliary Worker who has practiced in an NPO structure for the past 10 years and the exploitation is on a surroundings not to mention that the Department of Social Development dumped SAWs in NPOs without any protection from exploitation by NPO managers.
Social Auxiliary Workers in NPOs work very hard to bring Psychosocial Support Services to the community but they practice at the expense of their safety and wellbeing, seeing that there is no danger allowance or any other benefits rewarded to them. There is also an issue of going for 3 to 7 months with no pay due to something called 'dry season'.
Neither the Department of Social Development nor the NPOs recognize or even prepares to show respect for the work done by SAWs in different communities, seeing that a recent very sensitive matter regarding an increment for NPO Social Auxiliary Workers was greatly contested by managers, and the people concerned, I.e.; the Social Auxiliary Workers, were never informed of any of the events leading to cutting down of the original 20% raise per person to 10%...
This, amongst other factors make it hard for us to perform at the level of excellence we know we're capable of reaching.

(Johannesburg South, 2019-12-01)

#3820

There are enough opportunities at schools where they are needed

I am signing in because I work contractual work which is likely to end early next year and may become unemployed again, also considering the fact that I am not above the age of 35 years and likely to succumb to poverty like other unemployed graduates. This could also impoversh my
children.

(Durban, 2019-12-05)

(Pietermaritzburg , 2019-12-06)

#3837

Social workers need to be recognized with their NQF8 qualifications in terms of remuneration with their other professional counterparts

(Pretoria , 2019-12-06)

#3838

Im signing because I feel my profession is taken for granted, whereas we have studied for four years like other profession. Everyday us as social workers we are solving problems of the country, when there is crisis in the country you call social workers to assist but we are earning penult.

(Johannesburg , 2019-12-06)

#3839

I’m signing because I’m against the explication of social services practitioners, concerning their reward and remuneration, working conditions and other allowances

(Burgersfort , 2019-12-06)

#3843

I'm signing because, I'm a qualified social worker, working as a correctional officer in DCS. I see a real need for social work services and insufficient social workers in service. I rendered professional services since qualifying in 2015, but no posts are being advertised. I am passionate about the profession, but demoralized due to the conditions, salaries as well as the disregard for social workers as professionals.

(Gauteng, 2019-12-06)

#3845

The letter is a true reflection of what is happening on the ground. Lack of resources is a huge problem. Officials even use their own cars to conduct home visits, cellphone and data. The Government and our leaders are not taking this profession serious. It’s very demoralizing.

(Polokwane , 2019-12-07)

#3846

The NQF level of my degree does not correspond to what I'm earning. Eg trauma counselors employed by health earned twice for what I'm getting and the qualifications are at the same level B psychology four years degree and bachelor of social work four years degree. The scope of work is huge as compared to trauma counselors.

(Limpopo , 2019-12-07)

#3857

I'm singing because I'm also affected as a social worker and also support what the scriber said about employed social service professionals and also unemployed. It's very painful and we not getting any support from our government.

(Durban, 2019-12-12)

#3865

I feel we Social Workers are being exploited by the government but yet have degrees!

(Richards Bay, 2019-12-12)

#3866

I need a permanent position, contract always ends, there was an Ngo that I was working at and there where times were we where not getting paid especially after the few months of the financial year, we don't have any benefits, when the contract ends u live with nothing. The money that I was earning was too little to cover my whole family.

(Bushbuckridge , 2019-12-13)

#3871

I am signning because i believe that the working conditions of social workers should be improved in order to provide a conducive environment. Social workers also deserve to earn a better salary and also more social workers need to be hired in order to relieve the amount of workload expeienced by those social workers who are currently employed. The hiring of more social workers will improve service delivery to our communities.

(Krugersdorp , 2020-03-03)

#3907

Social work professional is undermined and exploited

(Mthatha , 2020-05-01)

#3909

Social workers need to receive crefit fir the job they are doing. Unfairly discrimination between NGO's and DSD salaries. So many social workers need jobs while there is so much work to be done. We work under difficult working conditions in NGO's with the best results without recognition. Our salaries.make us to feel left behind while we need to stand in court to protect our children, we need to advocate for the elderly, our precious women, and the poorest of the poor while we can't afford to look even after our own families.

(Secunda, 2020-05-01)

Nf nom

(Port Shepstone, 2020-05-02)

#3948

Iam a Social Worker who is unemployed and see no chance for a better since our government looks down on Social Work as a profession. The government is always exploiting Social Workers with internships. Other Departments are employing their graduates and as for Social Development they are only concerned with SASSA. Social workers are drowning from unemployed. Its high time the government starts doing right by Social Workers.

(Jane furse, 2020-05-02)

#3951

I'm signing this petition because I've worked as a volunteer social worker where I didn't even receive money for transportation for more than a year.

I served in a second NPO as a social worker supervising 06 facilitators but earned R6000 for one month & then the salary was decreased to R4000 per month. I won't state the resources or the conditions I was working under but it was bad Mr President.

Now I'm working for an NPO, the funder is the Department of Social Development, I've established an office for the NPO and supervise the Social Auxiliary Worker. We have no car and have to travel by taxi to do community work. We don't even have our own office but share an office with 02 people who don't even work for the NPO and amongst other things I earn R8870 Net salary, (R10 000 Gross salary). The NPO steals about R2000 of my salary but even now nothing has been done by the Department of Social Development even though this has been happening for a year now.

NPOs exploit us, it's like we have no rights, we're just slaves. Please help our profession.

(Durban, 2020-05-02)

(Durban , 2020-05-02)

#3993

The government exploit fellow social workers. Someone with a basic degree earn so much money and after deductions, still take home a lot of money. Social worker with an Honours degree takes home peanuts. It is not fair therefore, I stand with my fellow social workers since I'm following the same process of becoming one
