Stop the relocation of Langa railway residents

Comments

#201

To stop the relocation of Langa Railway residents to Weltevreden Wegde. They want to infiltrate all our areas and take over causing a drop in our property value and high crime. Also, we have many homeless coloureds but tha same can't be done foe them? No, this crap must come to an end

Berenice Adams (Cape town , 2023-10-27)

#203

the people will be moved to land where the land can be made available for our brown people who are on the waiting list.

Sammy moses (Cape , 2023-10-27)

#205

It is so unfair. There are people in Mitchell's plain that need houses. Why relocate these people they are mostly from Eastern Cape and not originally from Cape Town.

Charmaine Stokoe (Cape Town, 2023-10-27)

#208

I agree with the post

Qiyarah Adams (Cape Town , 2023-10-27)

#209

For safety and over population.

Mueenah Phillips (Cape Town , 2023-10-27)

#210

I am against the relocation of langa residents to Mitchells Plain. Whenever there is protesting we are heavily affected. We cnt get out of our area to go to schools and work.

Shireene Khan (Mitchells Plain, 2023-10-27)

#211

I do not agree with relocating informal settlement

Nuraan Ramjan (Cape Town , 2023-10-27)

#212

I don't agree with this decision. I feel this will increase existing problems and challenges within the area. Crime, lack of services and schools, ect.

Jamiela Ramjan (Cape town , 2023-10-27)

#213

This is not land for all

Taufeeqah Ramjan (Cape town , 2023-10-27)

#214

It's unfair towards people who still waiting for houses longer .

Amina Carelse (Cape Town, 2023-10-27)

#215

No to relocation

Christopher Norman (Cape Town , 2023-10-28)

#216

We do not need anymore informal Settlements, as we do ready have too many already who are not receiving any services. Mitchell's plain is already overcrowded and this community is suffering under societal issues, such as lack of proper housing & infrastructure. As a result we have little to no job opportunities for youth, gang violence increasing and this co-incides with the drug trafficking that is robbing our children of their innocence and youth. We need more constructive solutions to these problems. Not more problems added. The Mitchell's plain community is also an aftermath of the group areas act from the apartheid Era, stop using this community as a dumping zone and as a result add to our societal issues Instead of helping to build a better one.

Pauline Florence (Cape Town, 2023-10-28)

#217

We need to keep our area and kids safe. We need to keep out all negativity

Tarryn Swartz (Cape town , 2023-11-01)

#218

Jm signing because we know what havoc will happen when those residents move there..and I think the DA should really not do this

Sancha Zoutman (Capetown , 2023-11-02)

#219

Mitchell’s plain is already crowded and ratio for residents to police is outnumbered by far. The city needs to do better for all its people not just for specific groups.

Thaakirah Abrahams (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#220

The relocation is a sign of how behind housing is in Cape Town…it’s time the people run their own people

Monique Pylman (Cape town, 2023-11-02)

#221

We cannot have this happen, we already live in danger and the government don't worry. When there are strikes we wont be able to get out of Mitchells Plain or even get back Home. No we are not in Favor of this relocation

Neaan Petersen (Mitchells Plain, 2023-11-02)

#222

Mitchells Plain is already overcrowded
Surely there is other land that can be earmarked for this people.
We already have lots of problems with the Siqalo people that holds us hostage when they start protesting for free everything..and we bear the brunt every time with no support from the city. We will not stand for this again.
Julle maak en doen net wat julle wil met Mitchell's Plain se mense..enough is enough

Ayesha Majiet (Mitchells Plain, 2023-11-02)

#223

I dont agree with the relocation of Langa settlers to Mitchells Plain wedge

Yumnah Arendse (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#224

I don't fare to the people of the surrounding areas because there is people in our community that is on the housing list for years they can go back to where they come from they have to come from somewhere so go back there

Damion Baatjies (Cape flats , 2023-11-02)

#226

No to relocation of langa residents

Hailee Solomons (Cape Town , 2023-11-02)

#228

I do not want those people relocated to Mitchells Plain

Ashley Naude (q, 2023-11-02)

#229

Mitchell's plain is already overcrowded. I applied for 3 high schools in my area which is Rocklands an my I was unsuccessfully at all 3 schools. So if u move these people to our area then whts going to happen. I still have a 9 year tht I still need to apply for high in 4 years time.

Sue-ellen Smith (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#231

Mitchell's Plain's hospitals, schools, clinics already over crowed. Traffic in & out of Mitchell's Plain is already at its capacity. It's a safety issue, will increase smash & grabs. When they protest we can't get out to go to work!

Hoda Davids (Cape Town , 2023-11-02)

#232

I'm am signing for the people not to be relocated to Mitchell's Plain or anywhere close to Mitchell's Plain

Logan Gillmore (Cape town , 2023-11-02)

#233

I'm against moving these dwellers as it will add to strained resources and bring with it criminal elements as experienced with Siqalo.

Anees Raciet (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#234

Our area is already high risk because of the current dwellers. So a big No this bullshit cannot happen

Melissa Williams-Jooste (Cape Town , 2023-11-02)

#235

We are over 60 000 people in Mitchell's Plain on the housing database. We also need housing. Why are they using our land for people that are not from our area. We are sick and tired of everybody getting dump in our areas. There is lots of those people that are not even 30 years old. What happen d to the housing projects of Beacon Valley that was r -opened in this year and what happened to the housing project in Montrose park. The money was already set out for housing. Where is it now.No to the relocation of those people to Mitchells Plain.

Christalene Jantjies (Mitchell's Plain, 2023-11-02)

#237

I do not agree with this, Mitchells Plain is not a dumping site. We are already over populated and the crime rate is at it's highest. Our traffic will be ten times worse.

Carol Thomas (Mitchells Plain, 2023-11-02)

#239

M/Plain already struggles with high crime rate especially the serious crimes. The informal settlements are mushrooming all around us. Khaya, Philippi, Siqalo, and now this. I say NO! When protests occur because of these people we can't go to work, school or anywhere without being negatively affected.

Weltevreden Road won't be safe anymore day or night.

The City can go dump those Langa residents elsewhere.

Dylan Hendricks (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#240

I use this road daily to take my kids to school. If these people start to protest then it'll cause chaos in Mitchells plain. So many people are dependant on this road. Imagine all the crime that will be happening. I say No to the relocation!

Nicole Wilson (Mitchell's plain, 2023-11-02)

#241

I do not want the relocation of the Langa railway residents to Mitchell's plain

Nuraan Ely (Cape town , 2023-11-02)

#242

The relocation will create overcrowding in our schools public spaces and increase in criminal activities.

Nathan Palmer (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#244

Having lived 38 years in mitchells plain its starting to feel we being caged not to mention the anarchy and destruction brought by the protest when wanting free things while I'm paying for every God thing rates water levies everything R3.51 a unit while the shacks get it for cheaper if not free free water and then has the audacity to protest and attach us leaving mp to earn a living

Stafford Franke (Cape town, 2023-11-02)

#245

I don't want this dwellers to be located here.

Martino Wessels (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#247

I'm signing because it's the right thing to do and stop the congestion of Mitchell's plain infrastructure and its residence which Rates payers,,,and I thank you

Moegamat Ebrahim Arendse (Cape town , 2023-11-02)

#248

I'm signing this because i dont want langa people to move to the mitchell's plain or surrounding areas, our kids get no placement in our areas, unemployment rate is high, traffic is already bad and than crime have increased in our areas

Clinton Benjamin (Cape town, 2023-11-02)

#250

I'm signing because for many years my mother has been on a waiting list to get a house . Why are their people being put in houses that never lived in mplain .where was this people when there was a railway and it was working . This is unfair

Taryn Van wyk (Cape town Mitchell's plain, 2023-11-02)

#252

Because my area can't afford to house more people our roads and facilities can't handle it

Kiraan Regter (Cape Town , 2023-11-02)

#253

I'm not in agreement with the relocation of the illegal squatters to philippi

Arashaad Sulaiman (Cape town, 2023-11-02)

#254

I am disputing to have the people from langa to be relocated to the open land.

Eben Engelbrecht (Mitchell's Plain, 2023-11-02)

#256

This will be an additional problem to the many problems that we currently facing in our community (Mitchells Plain). We are already unsafe because of the two existing squatter camps , we get hijacked , we are over populated, we get robbed , we do not get job opportunities , children do not get spaces at schools, we can not drive around late , we spend hours in traffic ,we get trapped due to riots and thus being unable to commute to work. The list is endless and our lives are constantly at risk. I can only but imagine what we will be faced with if this is allowed.

Anne Smith (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#257

It will affect us. It will have a very bad effect cause our community is not a dumping ground and is already overwhelmed by people and things of the people of danger.

Keanu Millward (Cape Town, 2023-11-02)

#259

Do not want Lang’s residents to move to Mitchell’s plain!!!

#260

I'm against any relocation of people to Mitchells plain

Shane Mchelm (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#261

I'm signing because Mitchell's plain is already over populated. We struggle as is and don't need additional problems. The crime will increase roads will be destroyed as well as over populated

Chad Kessel (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#266

I’m signing to stop the Langa move !

Jade Hendricks (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#267

Kurt Williams (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#269

I don't want the relocation to happen

Rifa Rifa (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#270

There is no more space for them here, their is already no space at school for Mitchell's plain children ,no work and our infrastructure is messed up. They can't live like civilised people with their demands and than the whole Mitchell's plain will be affected when they decide to strike and burn for free electricity and free water where outr pensioners have to pay alot for their water. So me personally it's a big No.

Faieka Welman (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#271

I've signed this because there is lots of other people on the waiting list for houses that are old already and still just waiting this isn't far.

Kauthar Damon (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#272

I’m against Langa relocation to Michelle’s plain it’s a safety hazard

Rezah Payne ( Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#283

Coloured lives matter

Kirwan Klein (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#284

I am sick of everyone just being dumped in M/Plain. We got Samora, Siqualo and when these ppl protest and burn tyres they prevent us from going to work & theres no other way out of M/Plain. They need to start also building more roads out of M/Plain as well as the traffic is also ridiculous as a result of all these informal settlements. We*****en had enough of all this kak. Go put this Langa ppl in Sea Point by the white people and in Constantia. Let them deal with all this and see how they cope.

Nazlie Dollie (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

Natalie February (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#289

I'm signing it Cuz we had enough

Chandrey Phillips (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#290

We don't want them near Mitchell's Plain. It's enough we have the people from Siqalo. Mitchell's Plain is becoming worse and worse, we are boxed in and surrounded by informal settlements. When they decide to strike because they want everything free from the government, we the people of Mitchell's suffers and loses the most because we use all the main routes to travel for work and once the shit hits the fan, our properties gets damaged. RISE PEOPLE OF MITCHELL'S PLAIN. WE SAY NO TO THE RELOCATION.

Adrian Daniels (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#291

The people of cape town needs to get 1st privilege before anybody else does. Especially the people who are on the list for so long

Sheldon Swail (Mitchell plain, 2023-11-03)

#294

No infrastructure ,crimes will rise no planning organization was property done..

Waldo Waldeck (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#295

Why should they get preference to Varkensvlei when there are Coloured People Needing Houses. They should go to Browns Farm Philippi. This Government is so unfair and they can kiss my vote goodbye in 2024 because we the Coloured People are the Indigenous People of South Africa but like America and Australia and New Zealand which means we are still Colonised.

Moegsien Abrahamse (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#297

Tania Franke (Cape town , 2023-11-03)

#298

This affects us residents of Mitchells Plain

Ferial Abrahams (Mitchells Plain, 2023-11-03)

#299

I'm signing because I'm against the illegal railway squarters relocation to the weltevreden wedge. This relocation will put additional strain to the services which we already lack within Mitchell's plain, I also find it to be unfair as there's back yard dwellers awaiting housing for over 20years and haven't been seen to.

Denver Crowster (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#301

I am signing because I am against the relocation of the Langa railway squatters being relocated in the Mitchells plain area. We as a community are surrounded by squatters and impacts negatively on safety, jobs, schooling and infrastructure of Mitchells plain.I

Mornay Sulyman (Cape town , 2023-11-03)

#302

Mitchell's plain already have to much crime. We are surrounded.there is no jobs for us staying in mitchells plain.cars that is high jacket we find in siqalu and browns farm. Relocate them to sea point there isint crime there

Ashley May (Mitchell's plain, 2023-11-03)

#303

They shouldn't relocate people there

Ameer Erispe (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#304

First of all I'm against prasa relocating people on that piece of land. It will just be way congested coming and leaving the area. They should really build an industrial area like "Montague Gardens" like the NCC said to help and uplift the surrounding communities.
That is so sly tactics the City are using by nailing a notice poster of relocating people on a tree and giving us so slim chance to object...
The City is doing this without our input or consent. Which is WRONG.

Hubert Duminy (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#305

I'm signing because this does not make sense what the city is planning to do... How can you put more people in a area where there is a lack of schools, lack of Healthcare and the police doesn't can't even control the streets because they under staff... This is going to damage our land even further, with poverty, crime and much more bad things to come...

Badroenisa Adams (Athlone, 2023-11-03)

#306

I agree with NCC .....make land available in Constantia and surrounding areas for those people......stop making the ANC problem the problem of the people in Mitchell's Plain

Waleed Antulay (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#307

it is not right it will create varkensvlei road a danger road and make it the same as siqalo

Zaheer Appollis (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#308

The city allowed the Langa railway people to occupy the space. Why didn't they do something when they saw this happen. Why is Prasa allowed by government to submit a proposal for land that is not intended for railway services and/ or according to Prasa Service level agreement.

Asheeqah Pastor (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#310

Send them back home!

Nazli Khan (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#312

We don't want them her. Give the land to back yard dwellers instead. MP is not a dumping ground.

Ashraf Toyer (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#313

Our areas are already cramped up as is. We cannot get to work without fearing when they are protesting

Sakienah Davids (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#314

Langa squatters knew it was illegal to set up on the railway lines. Providing them with homes would be unfair to other residents who reside in mitchells plain that have been on a waiting list for years, also crime will increase in the area. We are already stuck on all exits from mitchells plain when protests happen. Our kids cannot even get placements in schools.

Keshia Cupido-Kloppers (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#315

I’m signing because Mitchell’s plain is already surrounded by informal settlements. This affects service delivery, travelling and safety.

Kaylin Fortune (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

Abdullah Johnson (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#319

1.the people wasnt properly notified?
2.there are lots of vacant land all over capetown that can be utilized ,why Mitchell's plain?
3.whos going to accommodate these ppl when it comes to education/schools,health etc?
And before you know it there be a influx of E.C people over populating the whole of varkensvlei area.

Mohammat Goliath (Cape rown, 2023-11-03)

#320

I'm signing Because of safety issues and also because Mitchells plain will become more overcrowded than it is already. Also they can build the houses for the people of Mitchells plain that needs a house

Aaron Ryan (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#321

I am a resident of weltevreden valley , we already affected by siqalo, we live in fear and as prisoners .we cant sell our homes because the property value is already so poor due to siqalo now imagine even more people being relocated here .

#330

See to our people that is born in westerncape first before seeing to people from other provinces

Justin Fredericks (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#331

I'm signing this because crime will increase due to poverty in and around Mitchells Plain. The unemployment rate and schools are already overcrowded. Outbound traffic will pose a problem. And overpopulation will cause a bigger strain on the resources in the area. Our lives, homes and transport system are already at risk due to the high influx of informal structures surrounding Mitchells Plain. We have worked hard to secure our neighborhood from crime as we have too little SAPS visibility and ambulance staff to assist the entire mitchells plain, just to throw all our hard work down the drain

Hayley Jo-anne Welman (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#332

This relocation will put enormous pressure on the community of Mitchell's Plain, affecting schools which are currently insufficient as it stands, hospitals which are already unable to adequately service the communities, crime is already at unacceptable levels, more thank likely it will increase. Amenities in general is insufficient and this relocation will primarily affect Mitchell's Plain. The application has zero consideration for the neighboring communities, only interest is reopening the train line. The traffic congestion this will create is another huge concern, irrespective of the R300 extension noted in the application, this will not address the problem.

Emile Brown (Mitchells Plain, Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#340

It's not fair. Lots of our own people has been waiting many years for a place. Those shacks has homes in Eastern Cape.

Nicole Kessel (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#341

Mitchells Plain is only big enough to accommodate a percentage of human beings, the crime right is already high and our kids don't even make it to get access to the schools in our areas. Adding more people to Mitchell's plain is not the answer and the DA knows this very well but they just don't care.

Keanan Simmers (Westridge , 2023-11-03)

#342

Mitchell's is already overcrowded with not enough schools and housing. Why is that all that all communities must be bunched together. There are a lot of open spaces in Pinelands, Rondebosch and even Cape Town central. What about the area where the towers were demolished. The DA wants to relocate the those people here, because their strikes and protests will only disrupt the lives of people living in Mitchell's Plain, not their constituents in affluent
areas. The DA does not invest in infrastructure, there are thousands of back yard dwellers in Mitchell's Plain, but their needs are not considered...rather people outside of Mitchell's Plain. NO TO THE RELOCATION.

RC BAM (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#343

I'm signing because that road is already congested during peak hour. There is no street lighting and dangerous to drive at night. Our safety is at stake. Move them to the Southern Suburbs where there is open spaces in abundance.

John Gilbert (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#344

There are more affluent areas with vast land that the government can use. Eg. Constantia. But instead you force people into under privileged communities because you don't want them to live where you live.

Joo Cym (Cape town , 2023-11-03)

#346

I'm signing because I don't see how the relocation of these people will benefit the community of Mitchell's Plain. It will only increase the crime rate and poverty in this community.

Melanie Solomons (Cape Town , 2023-11-03)

#347

We are trapped in Mitchell plain... Kept hostage in our own Area... We already struggling to spend extra fuel to drive via strandfontein out of Mitchell plain and Jake's gerwel is not safe driving thru any time of day of fear of being stoned or hijacked from all these settlements all around

#349

Mitchells plain is already densely populated

Basheerah Rajie (Cape town, 2023-11-03)

#350

I feel we are overpopulated, we have so many issues on Jake's gerwel when there are protests, also it's unfair there are so many open fields available.

Moeshfeeka Bridgmohan (Cape town , 2023-11-03)

#351

I agree with the no relocation

Tarryn Daniels (Cape Town, 2023-11-03)

#354

I’m signing because I disagree with the City and I don’t want the Langa Railway residents to move here, we have enough struggles with informal housing and settlements

This decision will negatively affect my community,.
There will be an increase in crime, disruptions to the transport system.
An increase rate of unemployment.
An increase of informal settlements which causes a decrease in property value and sales.
More race issues and concerns.
Safety concerns.

Mandy De Klerk (Mitchell's plain, 2023-11-04)

I'm not happy about the relocation. Mitchell's Plain is already overcrowded as it is with Siqualo and Samora Machel.

When the informal settlement communities are unhappy about service delivery, we suffer, because we are either kept hostage in our own areas where we pay to live and we can't get to work or we struggle to get home from a long day at work.

They should look for land in Constantia or in Rondebosch.

Simple, I stand with the coloured community it's time our people move forward, not everyone should get things for free in life

I am signing this petition because I live in Mitchell's Plain and don't agree with the relocation. We are already held hostage with ever protest that happens at any moment. Our schools are filled to capacity, there isn't even place for our children and grandchildren who are from the area at the schools. This is practically on my doorstep and I fear the crime rate will get even worse

Rochelle Manuel (Cape Town , 2023-11-06)

It's unfair that our community have homeless people that doesn't get first preference. Our Area also have a high crime rate with scatters at all exit points in Mitchell Plain, Enough Is Enough

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Kayla Isaacs (Cape town , 2023-11-07)

Mitchells Plain is already overpopulated. We should not have to suffer for people who do not deserve housing and are not entitled to housing in Mitchell's Plain.

Aneesha Waggie (Cape Town , 2023-11-07)

#395

Why can't our people in this area of Mitchell's Plain get housing on this plot but other people can what about us that doesn't have a place to live by so it's a no from me.

Danierle Blaauw (Cape Town, 2023-11-07)

The relocation affects the future my children grow up to. Their safety. Their heritage and their growth in Mitchells plain or Cape town for that matter. Many people in Mitchells plain are seeking accommodation and have not been seen to. There are many living in town centre for example who have not been relocated yet the people in Lang's living in train lines (purposefully) are now being pushed into Mitchells plain. Place them on property closer to the CBD where many plots are vacant and see how many folk will be pleased about that. I refuse to accept this application and cannot see how external residents get first privileges in Cape Town when the citizens of Cape Town aren't even looked after!

Kristie Truter (Mitchells plain , 2023-11-07)

#397

Im signing this

Stop the relocation of Langa railway residents to Weltevreden

Jean Africa (Mitchells Plain Cape Town, 2023-11-07)

I am signing because the Langa railway squatters must be moved to a different location like Rondebosch, Rosebank or Newlands it's really unfair towards the people of Mitchellsplain
