The court ruling has not been adhered to.

Jonathan Alexander (Ipswich, 2023-12-16)

#203

Whoever hear of a fence on a quay!!

John Hobson (Scarborough, 2023-12-16)

#204

Courts have agreed this historic site should not be curtailed - those decisions must, in justice, be enforced

David Simmonds (Pontyclun, 2023-12-16)

#205

I want to be able to access the Quay from the river for leisure activities and I want to see life return to the Quay as others access it.

Andy Morgan (Manningtree, 2023-12-16)

#207

I believe us locals should have access

Ruth Rayner (Manningtree, 2023-12-16)

#208

This eyesore ruins the view of the AONB and prevents the use of the quay for its natural use of accessing maritime craft.

Antony Peeke (Oxford, 2023-12-16)

#209

It’s not a good use of a wonderful view

Toby Horne (Manningtree, 2023-12-16)

#210

As a sailor I would not expect to encounter a fence barring access to a quayside.

Russell Read (High Wycombe, 2023-12-16)

#211

The quay is public land and free access should be allowed to all members of the public by sea or by land.

Patricia Kell (Ipswich, 2023-12-17)

#212

I sail on the river Stour and would like to see the quay returned to public use

Chris Cane (Leicester, 2023-12-17)

#213

I am signing because I was mate on the sailing barge Xylonite and we regularly used the quay back in the 1990's for shore trips for our schoolchildren charterers. It should never have been closed in the first place.

Chris Stopford (Manningtree, 2023-12-17)

#215

Visiting sailors should not be denied access to mooring at the quay.

Dennis Kell (Ipswich, 2023-12-17)

#216

As a boy I played on the Quay and landed on it from a boat more than 60 years ago. It is not right that the local people be denied access to the water. Health and Safety should not be used as an excuse for inaction; hundreds of public quays around this country are open including The Hythe in my home town of Maldon.

Jamie Clay (Maldon, 2023-12-17)

#218

It has taken far too long to get this obstruction removed.

Carol Moss (Colchester, 2023-12-17)

#219

I would like to see the fence removed and a suitable safety barrier in its place, to allow visiting river users to moor and come ashore.

James Bolton (Manningtree, 2023-12-17)

#220

This eyesore should never have been put in place.

M Bees (Colchester, 2023-12-17)

#223

The quay is an important place for sailors to access

Cathy Daniels (London, 2023-12-18)

#225

The blocking of access to the space is unlawful. The Council is not acting in it's rate payers best interests by not obeying the legal decisions.

Sharon Auton (MANNINGTREE, 2023-12-18)

#226

I remember being able to sail up river from Harwich and moor at the quay, and enjoy feeding the wildlife. It is criminal that one company has been allowed to destroy these kind of memories for so many for so long!

Jules Martin (Manningtree, 2023-12-18)

#228

It is ridiculous that we residents of Mistley are unable to enjoy the river fully

Mark Gannon (Mistley, 2023-12-18)

#229

Mistley Quay was a favorite of my late husband so I am signing on behalf of him

Wendy Webster (Woodbridge, 2023-12-18)

#230

You don' t need fences in such a beautifull area. Been there often. Fences will keep tourist also away!

Erik Frenks (Vlissingen, 2023-12-18)

#234

The Mistley Quay situation is a disgrace.

Gordon Scott (Basingstoke, 2023-12-19)

#236

Restoring public access to the quay is a historic and essential part of Mistley and Manningtree life. It will also increase the use of local businesses and bring money to the area as visitors use the Quay.

Dave Lightowler (Manningtree, 2023-12-19)

#237

When I was younger I was lucky enough to come alongside the quay in a Thames sailing barge, 'Adieu'.
Together with a large handful of other 'Tsb's', we laid over awaiting the barge match the following day.
It is a tradgedy that the quay is fenced off denying all craft usere access, as well as those that prefer to keep their feet dry.

rob sargent (london, 2023-12-19)

#238

As a regular visitor by water to the River Stour, the quay should be accessible to everyone!

John Carter (Brightlingsea, 2023-12-20)

#241

As a sailor and member of the OGA I have a great interest in preserving and protecting our maritime heritage especially on the East Coast. Why is it that the French lead in these matters?

David Lewis (Whitstable, 2023-12-20)

#246

The fence is an eyesore and we used to enjoy mooring up at the Quay for brief stops

Steven Hen (Burton-on-Trent, 2023-12-20)

#247

I used to visit Mist;ey Quay from time to time in my boat and was horrified, last time, to find it fenced off.
Not only could I not visit the village, I could not visit the shops or the pub. It was a sad loss.

Nick Donaldson (Sevenoaks, 2023-12-20)

#248

I’m incredulous that the Council is ignoring the decision of the Supreme Court and the wishes of the community that it is ostensibly its responsibility serve.

Peter Nicholls (Woodbridge, Suffolk, 2023-12-20)

#250

As a local resident and a sailor I fully support the quay getting back to how it was.

Sarah Curtis (Colchester, 2023-12-20)

#252

The fence should not be there.

Adam Pallant (Chelmondiston, 2023-12-21)

#253

I believe the council should enforce the courts ruling and the quay should be accessible to everyone.

Yvonne Mitchell (Walton On The Naze, 2023-12-21)

#254

I feel strongly that the Quay should be open to the public for general use.
Also it has been a traditional sailing barge berth for many years prior to being fenced off.

Raymond clark (Maldon, 2023-12-22)

#255

NB. It would be more effective to take a crowd funded action for damages on behalf of those prevented from having access. That would grab the attention of the company illegally blocking access.

John O’Donnell (West Mersea, 2023-12-22)

#260

I strongly feel that the local public has been denied access for too long to this beautiful resource; the railings are an eyesore and destroy the outstanding natural beauty of the Mistley Quay.

Jocasta Webb (Mistley, 2024-01-02)

#263

I'm signing this petition so inhabitants of the area are not brushed off.

Mark Renault (Manningtree, 2024-01-06)

#269

I live locally, I use the river pretty much weekly.

Ruth Clark (East Bergholt, 2024-02-28)

#280

I'm signing because its not acceptable that this has been allowed to continue like this. The decision has been made by the Supreme Court and should be upheld.

Catherine Arnold (Mistley, 2024-03-06)

#289

The quay has been designated as a village green with a right of access up to and including the waters edge. This is not possible at the moment with the barriers in place. The current arrangement hinders the view in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a safety issue should a boat be in trouble on the river as no access is possible to the quay.

Keith Simmonds (Manningtree, 2024-08-29)

#291

This quay must be accessible to all as it always was. It’s a village green & a public amenity. The current fencing is ugly, selfish & illogical & detrimental to the area. Furthermore the owner has been told to remove it by Tendring Coundil but this is not being enforced
