No scouting griup should be romoved from a publically owned building while it is supporting the survival of the building, if renovations are needed it should be rehomed temprarily and returned. Council are not acting in best intest of the future generations who benefit greatly from this organisationDeirdre McGivney (Tyrrellspass, 2023-04-14)

it would be a fatal mistake for the wellbeing and welfare of these children if they have no where to scout. It will end up costing more in the long run to Carlow Co. Co. and the state.Scouter 9th WH

As a fellow scout I understand all to well the difficulties Scout groups face when trying to get a home. We want such services for our kids but no authority appears to want to support. Not to mention the money this group had already invested into the property. What about that?Alan Carney (Leitrim, 2023-04-14)

Carlow Co. Council are taking much more than just a building away from the young people who are part of the Tullow scouts group. They are taking away the place they feel happy, secure, valued and heard. These young people need their scouts den returned to them, they have made it their safe place where they can grow, develop and have fun over the past 11 years. Please don't just see it as a building,it's much, much more.Lisa Moore (Kilculen, 2023-04-14)

Scouts need a home. What are the politicians teaching the future engineers, soldiers, mechanics, firemen, civil servents, journalists, mental health advocates, TD's etc, with decisions such as this. Shame on the County Council or their unelected staff or both. Whomever is making these decisions.Paul Walsh (Limerick, 2023-04-14)

It's should be for the community and scouts is a would wonderful thing for young kids and teenagers to do.If they tje Scouts had invested time and money in the building already the councle know that the scouts can be trusted to keep the new place in good order.
If not here do they have a plan or another place to house the Scouts.

As a youth member of scouting many year ago I know how scouting can be a social game changer for kids that aren’t into playing sports, scouting helped me so much as a young lad and I feel that passionate about scouting that I’ve spent the last 35yrs as a leader. A Scout Group without Den is a homeless Group and been in a homeless state will find it hard to sustain itself and thrive in fact the opposite is likely that it will just fade away into extinction. In todays world where kids and teens have their heads lowered into screens and only exercise they get are their thumbs on a joystick or touchscreen it is important that activates such a scouting are encouraged and supported by local and national government to help youth members grow and develop as individuals through the life skills, friendships and guidance they gain in scouting. I implore the powers that be in Carlow County Council not to put such a valuable community assist out on the street and inevitably close them but rather work with them to grow and flourish for the youth of the area.Damien O’Brien (Leitrim, 2023-04-14)

Scouts provide an invaluable service to our young people, they should be supported as much as possible in their local community. A den is an absolute necessity as a base for meeting up, storing equipment & a place of security & stability for the young scouters.Triona McGlynn (Kildare, 2023-04-14)

Scouting is so valuable to the community and society as a whole.. even the king agrees. This is morally unacceptable that the scouts have been excluded based on local politics.Lucy Barkas (Worcester, 2023-04-14)

Scouts offer young people access to opportunities they may not have had the chance to experience whilst learning skills for life. I’d much prefer to see young people involved in their communities to be worthy citizens than running amok and getting into trouble. Scouts have the opportunities they do due to the dedication of their leaders, they need a venue and why should they lose due to government greed with the amount of money the scout volunteers whether it be leaders, supporters or parents have raised to facilitate these repairs. Give this venue back to the scouts where they belong.Melissa Chambers (Cornubia, 2023-04-14)

There is not even enough help and support for young people. The scouts are a large organisation, one of very few such groups to help and teach them activities and lifestyle outside of school. I wonder what the budget cuts look like for youth services. How very short sighted of the local authority to also cut youth work in the voluntary sector. Are they so stupid as to not understand what effect scouting has on young people and their families, scouting costs the local authority nothing. They clearly don't understand the community value of what they are planning to destroy.Ian Temple-Heald (Manchester, 2023-04-14)
