This village has many elderly people, including a retirement village, and children (including 3 of my grandchildren) who can only access the seaward-side of the road by taking on heavy traffic (all too often speeding).

I’m signing this petition because I believe that the two recommended pedestrian crossings will assist all pedestrians in Ngunguru, but especially children. Hopefully it will also make drivers aware that there are pedestrians and hopefully they will stick to the speed limit.

I’ve grown up riding my bike around ngunguru, then my children did the same - so at first I wasn’t keen on this idea. Lately I’ve seen some near misses by the confusing pedestrian situation by the store, and there is no denying this area has grown so much something needs to be done before an accident

This crossing has been needed for few years and is well over due and probably need one at Shoebridge Crescent as well as traffic does not slow down much when coming from Tutukaka around past Te Maika towards Ngunguru shops. The speed limit is from 100km to 50km and most times the speed is well over 50km. As a parent of 2 children grown up here over the last 16 years it's well overdue and is only getting worse as the years go on. I would love to see proper pedestrian crossings at both places one because of traffic from Tutukaka end not slowing down enough and location of nearby school and the other because of position close to busy shop,takeaways, and Salt Air cafe and nearby Public Complex and pathway. Also because of estuary popularity and tourist and Whangarei population that visit the area. This part of the road is extremely busy. Please put these crossings in for the sake of our kids and other pedestrians that regularly use these crossings. Thank you.

It get so busy along that road as it's the main road to all the beaches Tutakaka and always has lots of cars around especially in the holiday periods and there are alot of children that live in this area would be so good to have kids and elderly be able to cross the road safely.
