It's too risky to send children out to school.

Ntombifuthi Nxumalo (Centurion, 2020-04-29)

#202

I'm signing because I personally think it is not safe for kids to go to school anytime soon up until the health practitioners have managed to flatten the curve.

Siyathemba Mahlanza (Cape town, 2020-04-29)

#203

We are placing our children under immense danger if we prematurely open schools

Clyde PAUL (PIETERMARITZBURG, 2020-04-29)

Real Ice-t (POLOKWANE, 2020-04-29)

#221

My child's life is more important than education so i won't take a risk , she will only go back to school if this pandemic is over, if it means she repeat a grade so be it.

Nobuhle Ndlovu (Howick , 2020-04-29)

#225

My child has asthma and i cannot take the chance of her catching the virus. Also, the proposal stated that classrooms will be cleaned prior to school starting. What about when kids move to another classroom during periods? They will sit at another desk, new contamination?

Yolande Buitendach (Kempton Park, 2020-04-29)

#226

I feel it's not safe for our kids to go back to school especially since we are still faced with such a pandemic disease in our country.

Ayanda Khumalo (KZN, Newcastle , 2020-04-29)

#227

I do not want schools to open, while there number of people infected by COVID-19 is still increasing. If 'parliament' can't meet during this time but opt to use Skype... Why would government want to send our kids to school where there are 40 in a class really.

Fhumulani Ramukhwatho-Matshivha (Laudium, 2020-04-29)

#231

The rate of infection is scaling up day by day. If send our kids to school were they will be in a crowded space, they will be vulnerable to the desease and evn us as parents coz they will carry it back home

Luyanda Tukani (East London, 2020-04-29)

#232

It is not conceivable that such a critical decision has been made with no substantial medical or scientific corroboration. It can result in dire consequences for the communities who can least afford an unprecedented out of control spiral in the numbers affected.

Vic Naude (Boksburg, 2020-04-29)

#233

My childs life is more important than having to go to school through a pandemic i would rather have my child repeat then suffer grave illness or that of my family

Meghan Luttig (Benoni, 2020-04-29)

#234

It is extremely dangerous to even consider sending millions of children and thousands of teachers back to school in the near future. Schools' capacity to meet protection regulations is wholly limited, if not impossible for most. It is shocking and disappointing that this topic is even open for discussion, given what we already know about Covid-19 and the devastation and trauma it has caused already. If it was my own child, I WILL REFUSE to abide by a ruling that may lead him/her right into a death trap. Newly borns, teens and young adults are all at risk, for heavens' sake. The DBE and WCED should do their homework, properly and diligently. DO NOT MUCK AROUND WITH THE LIVES OF S-AFRICAN CHILDREN.

Dr CW-Kronenberg (Cape Town, 2020-04-29)

#235

I do not feel it is safe for my kids .

Natalie Roach (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#238

#239

Athi Nyele (Mbizana Local Municipality, 2020-04-29)

#241

I feel the kids would be put at risk. Especially those with weakened immune systems. They should reopen the school in the new year

Jamie-Lee Barber (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#243

I have a child. I would like to keep her that way. There are 36 to 40 children in a class.

Sharlene Ramnath (Pietermaritzburg, 2020-04-29)

I feel it's way too soon for the kids to be going back to school

Lia Appalsamy (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

I cannot risk my children's life by sending them back to school. Schools are crowded. How are they going to social distance?

Lebohang Monaisa Nyoni (Midrand , 2020-04-29)

#248

To many kids in a class, should not be more than 20, no desk sharing

Sunell Humphris (Bloemfontein , 2020-04-29)

Quentin Bornman (Randburg, 2020-04-29)

Nikita Jacobs (Northern cape, 2020-04-29)

#254

Currently we have more higher rate of infections thus it will pose a threat to our children as we already have more than 45 kids per class in our government schools make social distancing a dilemma. It's unsafe and goes against the rights of our children.

Brian Gwarimbo (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#260

Its not safe for our kids.

Maria Jooste (Vereeniging, 2020-04-29)

#263

I'm personally not comfortable sending my kids to school what if there's a case of covid19 at any school what then how's gonna be held responsible if the kids contract the virus and how can they allowed children (40) in one class. I DON'T AGREE !!!!

Carl Swanepoel (Strandfontein village, 2020-04-29)

#265

Virus is going to spread rapidly. Im not sending my kids out to die.

Charlene Francke (Johannesburg, 2020-04-29)

#266

I'm signing because I need my children to always be safe and I feel I have more control over their safety and health. I feel that their well being is more important to me than the school's

Natalie Welthagen (Johannesburg , 2020-04-29)

#267

I do not think it is right to send kids out to school, while the numbers are still escalating. How could we trust that this won't be the getting everybody sick. I don't think it's a good idea and will definitely NOT send my kid to school until the curce is flat for about 2 weeks

christell coetzee (Fochville, 2020-04-29)

#268

It’s too early, my child rather repeat than to die from this cruel disease

Mogaba Thosago (Polokwane , 2020-04-29)

Thabiso Rooi (Sebokeng, 2020-04-29)

#276

I am signing because I have kids and what is stated here is true. We are suppose to be trying contain the pandemic and now our kids will be used as carriers to transport a virus they contacted from other kids.

#277

Ons gaan met grooter probleme sit as ons kinders moet terug gaan skool toe hulle is nou al vir so lank by die huis

Soreta Grobler (Homestead Germiston, 2020-04-29)

#282

I am a mother, a concerned mother who has many medical underlying problems and so do my children, yes children are strong but my immune isn't, they will bring the virus back to me when I am in strict hiding from the virus, this isn't fair on them, I won't leave my children to grow up thinking that they killed their mum! How is it social distancing to allow the children to go out and mingle with so many others in a day, our children going to school will cause the ripple effect upon us, please consider us parents!

Shaida Chetty (Lichtenburg , 2020-04-29)

#283

Im concern about the healt of my kids going back to school. People not allowed to work but kids can go back to school. How does this make sence at all.

Natasja Swanepoel (Rustenburg , 2020-04-29)

#284

I am a mother who does not compromise with the safety of my child. I have dedicated myself to doing the best for my son from the moment he was born and my conscience would not allow me to release him into an environment where his safety can not be guaranteed. We are heading into winter and the peak of the virus hasn't been reached. Allowing a 9 year old child to go back to school is playing Russian roulette with his life and I cannot do that. I can't safely say he'd adhere to social distancing rules throughout the day, I can't guarantee that he would remember to be careful around touching surfaces and sanitizing his hands. Even with the mask he would be tempted to touch his face/eyes, he is only 9 years old after all.

Lindo Cele (Centurion , 2020-04-29)

Lucille Fouche (Queenstown, 2020-04-29)

#296

I wont let my child go to school in such conditions

Mbalenhle Rankwe (Middleburg , 2020-04-29)

#299

I don't feel it is right to send learners back to school at present. My kids are small and they will not be able to adhere to social distancing without an adult screaming at them, which could lead to them resenting their school environment. The teachers are also at risk - they are human too and have families too. The kids grandparents are the high risk group for covid-19. This decision is rushed. And the educators already struggle with so many other issues during a normal school day, to compound it with covid-19 will surely end in disaster. The department should focus on e-learning and reformatting the end of year assessments especially for grades 12 and 7 without sending the children back to class until August or September.

Thobile Mkhize (Pretoria, 2020-04-29)

Nompumelelo Thusini (Glen Coe , 2020-04-29)

#325

Im signings this because to much children and teachers will be att risk not only that what if one child or teacher is infected and they dont know about it they infect the children or other teachers or just even maybe the whole school please reconsider this i wil rather let my child so a year over that loose his life and just others though goverment close the schools because of the virus now that there are more cases goverment want to open schools why did they not leave schools open in the beginning when the virus broke out until they saw its getting rough then they could have closed the schools

#337

I have two children, ages 13 in Grade 8 & 9 years in Grade 3, my kids have never left my home during the lockdown period at all so why would I deliberately knowing all well the virus is here taking lives daily & still send my kids to school. It's like me throwing my kids to lions & hoping they don't get eaten. Sorry education is vital but not as important as the life & safety of my kids. Reopening school is opening the door to disaster. Social distancing will not work in our already overcrowed government schools. All the teachings of not hugging & playing to close goes out the window as soon as the kids see their friends.
This is not going to work & Grade 7 & 12 learners shouldn't be allowed to be the test subjects to see if this works...

Chrisann Manikam (Durban, 2020-04-29)
