I’m signing this to show my support to a great man that gave a lot of time to tunneling and supporting the next generation...

Jim's 40 plus years of tunneling to help improve the lives of many through the improvements progress and essential services tunnels provide to the community be it sewer water power transport. In his later years he has stepped back and guided the new generation into the hazardous and challenging environment of tunneling..Always humble but the first too step up in any situation that wasn't for the faint hearted or inexperienced. He was the man that lead from the back the lifeline too any tunnel operation always in the thick of it all.but a silent achiever who shyed away from the lime light and glory .One of the last original tunnelers still doing what he loved, being down the hole leading by example and setting the standards a legend .

I'm signing this as I believe it would be a fitting tribute to a man who spent his life in the industry mentoring young workers in the correct way to undertake their daily tasks but unfortunately paid the ultimate price. For all of those in the industry we are all better people to have had Jimmy aka Uncle in our lives and I feel this would be a worthy tribute to the years he spent in our industry. RIP Uncle

Jim Adams was a roll model and mentor to so many, there's few who are so widely respected from so many people from different walks of life like Jim. I'm sure his legacy and story will continue on but to name the project which he lost his life on after him would be a true token of appreciation for a man who did so much for so many.

Jim was a well respected worker whos life was lost on a civil construction site. Jim had a long career in underground mining and tunnel construction sites this would be a fitting gesture.

Dallas & I grew up together In Cromwell in the 80s I was always around him & his Whanau I remember just about every weekend you knew when Jim had been hunting there were always pigs hanging on the close line getting taken to with the blow touch lol the aroma was out of this world always going eeling he was a good man that had put his heart soul & life on the line for his job just to support his Whanau this naming the tunnel after Jim Adams Sr would be a proud blessing for the Adam Whanau Mauri Ora

Merv Smith (Ashburton, 2020-03-30)

#385

I worked on the project, I didn’t meet Jimmy, but I know his son Dallas. Jimmy and his other son both lost their lives building tunnels. Everyone that works on projects like NorthConnex sacrifices so much for the job and as a result for the people that will benefit from its purpose.
Jimmy gave all.
I think it’s fitting that a piece of infrastructure that benefits so many should give back to just one that gave so much to it.
