This place brings memories. It’s a part of history.

I grew up in Jerseyville and still have a lot of family there; I visit often. The downtown area has greatly improved over the last 5 years and in the future I see a need for more buildings for continued economic growth, not more parking. There is plenty of parking - maybe you have to walk a block or two - but there is more than enough parking downtown.

Destroying this building is not worth a few parking spots....

Many happy childhood memories with grandparents at the moose, would be a shame to see it torn down when it has so much life still left!

I grew up in jerseyville so I have many memories in and out of the moose. Home is starting to feel like not home. It'll be sad to come back home and not see it there anymore.

I want this building to stay around for future generations to appreciate. This is a huge deal to many of us and please don’t tear down our memories.

This is the town I grew up in and I’d hate to see a historical building get torn down just for a few parking spots

I do not think that the city needs to spend that kind of money on a parking lot. That money could be spent in much better ways to help our town. If they were only spending $35,000, then it might be a different story but $189,000 is just insane. If we are wanting to make Jerseyville a 'walking district' we need to make our roads more appealing. By that I mean putting up lanterns along State St and down the side streets, hanging lights across Pearl St, Having signs stating how far of a walk it is from this parking lot to a certain business, and looking at our surrounding towns to find other ways of making our 'walking district' come to life. $189,000 could go far on completing these ideals. I am not ok with The City of Jerseyville spending $189,000 on a small parking lot.

My Dad helped the Moose Lodge get this building👍‼️ He worked for the Moose Lodge for several years, starting in their original place of business, which was upstairs over the Bertman Clothing Store❤️

This building has had so many memories that instead of tearing it down you should just clean it up and put a business there.

Because I have a lot of good memories there with my parents, which are both gone. My family and I have spent many hours there with bingo, Christmas baskets, and honoring our vets. It has become part of our family I don't want to loose. It would be such a waste. It would make me so happy to have it fixed up and used again for a community project or program

Jo Goheen (Dow, 2020-01-30)

This historical building needs to stay ! It is an icon of the county, and not an eye sore. Many family memories in this place. If it can be rehabbed SAVE IT !

Christine Lacy (Piasa , 2020-01-30)

It’s a historical building and I’m sure there is dilapidated property close by that could be bought cheaper. The tax payers should have a say in what happens in their town.

As a former resident of Jerseyville Il and someone that loves to see historic buildings restored...I think it is a wonderful idea to restore a piece of a lot of citizens past here in Jersey County!
The city has several parking lots that are unused at this time, turning it into a parking lot and spending all that money seems wasteful.

The moose has been a gathering place for many over the years. It could continue to be a place where people could rent out for parties and events as well as saving a part of Jerseyville's history. If we need more parking why did we build a cvs uptown instead of using that area as a parking lot? We had more than enough and even shut down mom n pop shops that also are historic to our town.

Elizabeth Elmore (Jerseyville Il, 2020-01-30)

I am signing because I question the legality of spending such funds to obtain parking spaces by demolishing a historic building that could still be used.

This place has great food.I would go to lunch when I was in high school because I loved it. We would play pool too. It's bad enough that white spot is gone. We gotta have some things stay the same. Too many places that have been around forever are gone.

Candace Isringhausen (Jerseyville , 2020-01-30)

This building is a registered historic site in good condition. The cost of demolition proposed by the local government would greatly outweigh the costs to restore and utilize this historic building. Please stop the abuse of taxpayer's dollars.

I believe John has a great plan, the funding and the know- how to see this plan to fruition. Most of us have wonderful memories of the Moose. John’s plan provides valuable parking, business space and recreational opportunities for our youth. Let’s get behind this Jerseyville! 😊

I grew up in Jerseyville. I used to go here with my dad as a kid. We would shoot pool and drink “Kitty Cocktails” at the bar. Good memories. Nice vintage building in a great town. Should be kept. Revamp it keep the vintage flare, it is across from the theater, would make a good restaurant or Community/Youth Center.
