Huntingdonshire District Council Parking Fees

Comments

#201

The people and the companies of St Neots need a cheap town centre car parking option and 2 hours is too much.

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#202

This doubling of the parking fee is a disgrace and will speed up the dying of St.Neots as a market town.

(ST.Neots, 2019-08-07)

#205

The new 2 hr parking charge will stop people, including myself, from shopping in the town. To attract shoppers to the town St Neots needs lower parking charges not higher.

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#207

Disgusting increase and will see the high st decline further

(St neots , 2019-08-07)

#209

I disagree with abolishing 1 HR parking option.

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#210

The withdrawal of the 1 hr slot will be detrimental to the future if St Neots town centre. As more people will then use the riverside car park there will be fewer parking spaces for those wishing to use the facilities there, particularly the Riverside Railway and children’s play areas.

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#215

Disgraceful change just greed!

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#225

It’s a disgrace that the council hike up the prices to park in our high street was only a couple of years ago it was 30p to park for an hour now £1.60??!! I can’t see the high st surviving

(St Neots , 2019-08-07)

#226

This will double the cost of nipping to the shops. The High Street is struggling to survive competition on line and this is the heart of the town

(St Neots , 2019-08-07)

#230

OUR District council should be working for US.

(St Neots , 2019-08-07)

#232

Dr appts, bank buissness, vets, optition, pick up prescripton, do not require 2 hour parking 1 hour bad enough,

(Hemingford Grey, 2019-08-07)

#236

HDC have blatantly misled the public by implying parking would be cheaper after the changes. The new charges will be more costly and therefore detrimental to the local region.

(St neots, 2019-08-07)

#239

We need to help our Town... not hinder

(St neots , 2019-08-07)

#241

I am a St Neots resident

(St Neots , 2019-08-07)

#242

For short stays it should be free to park to encourage people to shop in our towns rather than online.

(Houghton, 2019-08-07)

#246

St neots has a dieing trade as it is as hdc are doing everything they can to not invest in it this will be another nail in the coffin for it

(Cambs, 2019-08-07)

#249

I believe that HDC were originally going to look at making it easier for people to 'nip into town' for a short visit, maybe a 30 minute stay. I certainly didn't expect to have my parking fee for an hour increased by 100% as I have no option other than to pay for two hours whether needed or not..... usually not.
It's as though HDC want to shut down St Neots High Street. I can confirm it will NOT encourage me to travel to Huntingdon instead. I would rather give my parking money to Bedfordshire or MK.

(St Neots , 2019-08-07)

#252

If these charges are implemented it will further reduce the amount of people (myself included) visiting ur already dying town centre. All charges for parking should be removed to encourage more visitors to our town

(Cambridgeshire , 2019-08-07)

#253

Think of the elderly on pensions and those wanting to see their doctor or pick up a prescription! I don't be visiting for my pet supplies anymore and I'll just go to Milton Keynes where I work.

(St neots, 2019-08-07)

#255

Doubling the fee from a one hour option is blatant profiteering which will drive even more consumers from our High Street businesses.

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#260

As a local resident I am horrified at these outrageous increases. How on earth are we supposed to revitalise our town centres if we increase parking charges to a prohibitive level. I am very sad to say that I won't be using the town centre at all unless I absolutely have to and I shall walk, other residents, those with restricted mobility, young children etc, are not so fortunate, shame on you!!

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#261

I don’t like getting ripped off y the authorities forcing me to pay more than necessary to park.

(St Neots, 2019-08-07)

#262

I regularly come to St Neots and I only need an hour to shop and rarely it is more

(Bedford, 2019-08-07)

#269

Making a minimum of 2 hours so doubling the price, will discourage people to shop in towns, I like to go regulary, and some days only need upto an hour, other days I may shop longer, but I would not go so often it the price goes up, the shops will then suffer.

(Cambs, 2019-08-08)

#271

I believe by implementing these charges you will drastically reduce the number of people who will come into our town. You are crippling small businesses with this move. Your belief that people will come into town for longer if you remove the 1 hour charge is absolutely untested here. The decision appears to have been made purely for the monetary gain for the council.

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#273

The town centre will be hugely affected by this decision, people will not pop in to town anymore

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#277

I want our town centre to survive.

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-08)

#278

You are ripping us off

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#279

Robbery!! For a simple trip to town no 1 hour parking. Daylight robbery.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#281

The market square would be too full all the time to allow for short stay people and we need more parking facilities

(Cambridgeshire , 2019-08-08)

#284

I’m rarely in town for more than an hour. To pop to the bank (10 minutes) already at 80p is a joke but to take that away is shocking. The town is already struggling local shops closing and the town filling with hairdressers and charity shops, there will be no reason for people to come to our beautiful town. Your not encouraging visitors.

(Cambridgeshire , 2019-08-08)

#285

Removing the option to pay for one hour’s parking will not make people stay longer, it will just deter people from coming at all.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#286

This is a joke.. what if we only want to visit town for an hour considering there is barely any decent shops already?

(Cambs, 2019-08-08)

#289

We have a pathetic council from Huntingdon determined to kill off trade in St Ives and the area. Shame on the council and those responsible. Especially the leadership determined to kill off local business whether it is St Ives / Huntingdon
It is a sign of the times. We will he chargers next to park outside of our own homes.

(St ives, 2019-08-08)

#291

This is discussing hdc get enough money out of the public as it is ,

(Cambs, 2019-08-08)

#294

I think that the prices they want to increase to are too high

(Cambridgeshire , 2019-08-08)

#295

HDC are killing St Neots

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#296

It just seems the local council bodies are hell bent on reducing footfall in St Neots and wasting good money on badly thought out initiatives. Restricting cheaper, short term parking will be another death knell on a struggling town.

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#298

It’s ridiculous to take away the option to park for 1 hour as well as increase the prices. St Neots deserves better!!

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#300

The one hour option is so useful and I have always been ok to pay £0.80 even for 5-10 minutes as I pop in to town. However I refuse to pay £1.60 for the same time and will find out of town or free parking frkm now on in. This will represent a drop in income for HDC not just from me but others

(St Ives, 2019-08-08)

#302

Parking charges are a disgrace

(Huntingdon , 2019-08-08)

#304

It's ridiculous

(Cambridgeshire , 2019-08-08)

#309

It's disgraceful they have removed the hr charge. Would have been more convenient for all to leave as it was and just add a 1/2 hr option. You have lost my custom!

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#310

It's wrong !

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#313

It takes the absolute Mick to increase charges esp as our roads and paths are lumpy with hazourdous holes . No one can just pop to town to pick something up without paying for 2hrs that's ridiculous

(St.ives, 2019-08-08)

#314

By removing the one hour fee the town would be used less than it is now

(St neots, 2019-08-08)

#317

this is pure greed, and will only have a detrimental affect on the st neots high street.

(st neots, 2019-08-08)

#320

The council claims its aim is to reduce the amount of time paid for that isn’t used, but by doubling the minimum time paid for they’re forcing the opposite. For twice the price. And by linking tickets to registration numbers, that time can’t be passed onto someone else to use, so they have to pay for another 2hrs. Please stop pretending you’re doing anyone a favour.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#324

I'm signing because I think that by only having the option of a 2 hour parking fee at £1.60, as the only choice instead of 1 hour for 80p, will stop people visiting the town, the high street is already dying through lack of support, this will make it worse.

(Cambridge, 2019-08-08)

#325

It’s so wrong and unfair

(Huntingdon , 2019-08-08)

#328

I often just pop into St Neots but I am there under an hour.

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#335

High streets are already struggling.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#340

I go into town on a regular basis and only ever pay for an hour. Why should we have to pay more for something that we aren’t using?

(Huntingdonshire, 2019-08-08)

#341

The rise in costs and particularly the change to a 2hr minimum charge will deter people 'popping' to the shops, which adds significantly to the footfall of a town centre such as St Neots.

(St neots, 2019-08-08)

#342

I'm signing because it annoys me to pay for time I won't be using.

(St Neots, Cambs, 2019-08-08)

#343

The withdrawal of the 1 hour parking will drive people away from our high streets

(ST. NEOTS, 2019-08-08)

#344

This is disgusting

(Cambridgeshire , 2019-08-08)

#349

This is a disgrace. So now I have to pay for two hours for a quick pop into my nearest town for an appointment!!!!! Greedy just greedy!!

(Kimbolton , 2019-08-08)

#351

I’m signin because I will
Not be able to use the town centre now the price has doubled. I use the doctors in the town centre and usually pay for an hour. This will mean I will have to walk my baby to any appointments as I refuse to pay for 2 hours.

(St neots , 2019-08-08)

#352

The parking charges are a betrayal of manifesto promises to support retail in our market towns. They have dressed up massive price increases as “flexible parking” that will serve no one and damage retail in St Neots.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#355

I'm signing because it is just a crafty way of increasing already high parking fees!

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#356

.

(Cambridgeshire, 2019-08-08)

#357

Scandalous!!!

(Wyton, 2019-08-08)

#358

I sometimes need less than an hour so having to pay a minimum of 2 will make me go elsewhere

(St ives, 2019-08-08)

#360

As a small business owner in St Ives this really concerns me. A lot of people pop into town to see speciality retailers like us and now you've made them pay for 2 hours and you've just made it easier for people to decide where to shop and where not to shop and with no consultation. Absolutely appalling. Why are you trying to destroy the high street?

(St ives, 2019-08-08)

#365

It’s a ridiculous inflation, will drive people away from town centre, retails outlets with free parking and more shops will appeal greater! Only need 15mins to pop to bank! Parking issues elsewhere will become more problematic!

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#367

These charges are ridiculous

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#370

Outrageous charges. First hour should free to encourage people to use town shops.

(St neots, 2019-08-08)

#371

I’m Signing this because I disagree with the parking charges

(Little Paxton , 2019-08-08)

#372

The new parking tax is insane and a threat to our town!

(St neots, 2019-08-08)

#373

I object to increases in indirect taxation.
I object to paying more to a Council which consistently reduces its services.
I object to the damage this will do to the economic viability of our market town’s.
I object to this because of the damage it does to town centre footfall and the impact this has on local employment, the retail offering and increased damage to the environment through encouraging travel to other locations.
I object to this because these increases are unnecessary if the Council better managed its finances.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#374

The price is already enough to maintain half of the town with it...

(St. Neots, 2019-08-08)

#376

These charges will detriment the town of St Neots by reducing visitors, and will impact those on low incomes who need to visit town.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#378

I'm signing because this will only serve to discourage people away from our town centre's and further damage the high street. Forward thinking councils are reducing/eliminating such charges to encourage local trade and industry.

(St. Neots, 2019-08-08)

#380

Unfair as seems to descripate against certain car users and people. St Neots will more of a ghost town than it is now. Considering to number of houses being built it drive them away to other towns and cities.

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#384

I will not go to the town if i have to pay double to park therefore businesses will close i will use online instead for shopping as will others.

(St neots, 2019-08-08)

#385

This does not encourage people of St Neots to come into the town for a quick shop where you don't need to stay for two hours. Instead of this they will go down the well trodden path of out of town shopping or choose the online option. Bedford Retails Parks, Huntingdon Garden and Leisure and Rushden Lakes shopping all offer free parking. This parking increase will only take people away from their local shops forcing local independent businesses out of business and then empty shops so no business rates paid!

(st neots, 2019-08-08)

#387

Overpricing for car parking will decrease footfall in the town centre or force people to park in residential areas.

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#392

Making tickets license plate specific is pathetic. Handing one's ticket on to a complete stranger is a time honoured British tradition.

(Houghton, 2019-08-08)

#393

This will only increase illegal parking in and around St. Ives.

(Huntingdon , 2019-08-08)

#394

Let’s make the choice to pop to our local shops an easy one. We want to be giving residents options when they shop - one hour at a reasonable rate to use independent and family run stores is vital to the local economy. It’s incredibly short sited to start forcing people to out of town big stores and against fostering a community spirit (eg plain mean) to enforce a reg plate specific ticket system. I’m sure our elected representatives will look at this again after hearing the strong views of our community.

(Wyton, 2019-08-08)

#399

High streets suffering enough without making it worse by increasing parking fees

(St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#400

The cost increase will further destroy the high street and decrease traffic. It will also adversely affect those with limited mobility and accessing health services in the town centre

(St Neots, 2019-08-08)
