PETITION AGAINST EXPLOITATION OF SOCIAL WORK PROFESSION

Comments

#201

I'm an unemployed graduatel and decided to go back to school because there were no jobs. I feel there is a need for social workers to take a stand and claim their place by making thr government aware of thier challenges, especially the unemployed social workers.

(Johannesburg, 2018-03-02)

#202

I'm signing this because I am unemployed, I graduated in 2015. We were promised to be absorbed after we complete our degree. Please fulfill your promises South Africa need our skills, there are so many social ills in our country.

(Qumbu, 2018-03-02)

#203

My concerns are raised in the petition. The Social Workers in South Africa have the lowest status as opposed to the world. Studying to become a Social Worker is hard, but the challenges that we encounter after graduation are just disempowering. We study 4 years and write a mini dissertation but our qualification is seen as a degree not an honours degree. The Social Work profession is not taken seriously by the government, but we carry out the most important duties to implement their different acts as we help people.

(Pretoria, 2018-03-02)

#205

#218

I'm not happy the way our government perceive social workers. Our degree is equivalent to honours but we are getting a salary that is less than ten thousand. We must get a salary that can maintain our families.

(Pretoria, 2018-03-02)

#221

We need employment as social work graduates and for NGOs to stop exploiting us

(Durban, 2018-03-02)

#224

I am signing this petition because of the the way that we were promised jobs free the completion of our degree only to find that there are no jobs. As a young person I can't be exploited by these So caller NGOs because they are seeing how the government is treating social Workers.. NGOs know that we are desperate for jobs hence they take advantage of that, from the salary to the working conditions. It is said that Social Work isa scarce I am not seeing how it is treated as a scarce skill, what I am seeing is Social Workers being taken for granted.
It is not enough that we are jobless we have to accept the maltreatment from NGOs who are taking advantage of us. I would like to see a change in the way Social workers are treated and with the placement of of social workers. There are hardly postgraduate bursaries for us to continue with the our studies and we can't find ourselves either seeing that we are unemployed. It is really embarrassment to see a Social Worker being treated like a nobody.

(Nelspruit, 2018-03-02)
