#3601

It is ridiculous to say the least. Not all of us has money to stock up on 4 cartons now its another extra two week.

Natasha Jacobs (Alberton, 2020-04-14)

#3604

I'm signing because I'm a smoker

Tamara-Leigh Jacobs (Vryheid, 2020-04-14)

#3609

I am a smoker and I cannot understand our current situation where no sigarettes are available.

Aletta Wilbers (vanderbijlpark, 2020-04-14)

#3611

Im signing this because I'm and a happy loving person and Im without sigarettes for 4 days now I'm sleeping I'm irritated and I'm emotional I'm and antidepressant person I'm on the medication already and I'm getting more and more depressed and I just got better after everything... Now I can't smoke and it's making it bad again I need to smoke... We don't have anything to do anymore at our houses this is making not smoking so much worse please just bring sigarettes back I don't care about alcohol I just need sigarettes please

Elsabé Osborne (Hopefield, 2020-04-14)

#3614

I am a smoker for 50 years.

Margaret Montague (Port St. Johns, 2020-04-14)

#3617

It makes no sense

#3619

Ek rook al vir 30 jaar

Petrus Du Preez (Port St. Jonhns, 2020-04-14)

#3620

This ban is ridiculous!!!
Cigarette withdrawal symptoms are beyond intense and will drive a smoker to do anything to get their smokes. It will take a hell of a lot more that the Mabenas of SANDF to stop me from finding my smokes!

Craigh Grobbelaar (Johannesburg, 2020-04-14)

#3621

I am a smoker and it is my choice

Michelle Spencer (East London, 2020-04-14)

#3623

This ban is going to cause more havoc than Covid-19 itself. Withdraw symptoms and mood swings will further increase domestic violence as could already be seen the mast two weeks. This ban is just in place out of spitefulness - and nothing else!!

Robert Thompson (Somerset West, 2020-04-14)

#3624

Cigarette ban to be lifted

Christopher Wilson (Gauteng, 2020-04-14)

#3629

I want to smoke.......

Newton Wilkinson (Cape town, 2020-04-14)

#3630

I think if you take away people's alcohol and sigarettes some, during lockdown, it is the only stress reliever a lot of people have. Depression is real and sigarettes is the only thing some people have to help them deal with stress.

Yvette De beer (Bellville, 2020-04-14)

#3634

I’m desperate

Jan Fouché (Cape Town, 2020-04-14)

#3638

Im a smoker

Jacques Roelofse (Cradock, 2020-04-14)

#3642

Because crisis is not the time when irrelevant people with silly hats should be wielding their delusions of power

Daryl Codron (Bloemfontein, 2020-04-14)

#3643

I think it is unfair to ban cigarettes as it does not fall in in the same category as alcohol. Please lift the ban on cigarettes

Susan van Zyl (Benoni, 2020-04-14)

#3646

I'm a smoker, and am getting very anxious for when I do run out of cigarettes. I become rather Very nasty when I have no smokes.

Chantel Salta (Cape town, 2020-04-14)

#3647

I'm a smoker

Juan Fourie (Bela-Bela, 2020-04-14)

#3648

We will continue to buy illigal sigarettes until the ban is lifted.. The goverment is making South Africa criminals. They say they "care" about our health but in the meantime they dont feel a shit about anyone eccept thereselves

Elize Mynhardt (Western Cape, 2020-04-14)

#3654

I don't want to be forced into criminal activity by buying cigarettes from illegal traders.

Beverley Millar (Richards Bay, 2020-04-14)

#3656

I too am a smoker and know that the black market is currently robbing people by charging them up to R80 for a packet of 20 cigarettes, which the government doesn't receive a cent of. Let's rather be able to buy cigarettes legally than supporting the black market.

Daphne-Ann Combrinck (Pretoria, 2020-04-14)

#3658

Please the economy is already losing alot of money. They can make some of this back with the sin taxes. Sell sigarettes in supermarkets.

Landi Fourie (Germiston, 2020-04-15)

#3662

I'm signing because my husband smokes, and so does my cousins. They are all getting very desperate. Getting very agitated. It's getting really bad for them. We cannot be so insensitive and unconstitutional to the general community. Majority of South Africa smokes.

Dane Pillay-Nel (Johannesburg, 2020-04-15)

#3666

Because this is ludicrous spiteful and stupid. Sa loosing 35ml a day. What do the achieve other than forcing more control on us.

Rix Castelyn (Johannesburg, 2020-04-15)

#3668

I suffer from anxiety. Been on meds for 15 years. No smokes is worsening my levels os anxiety. I am complying with all rules.

Larry Pillay-Nel (Gauteng, 2020-04-15)

#3669

I am a tax payer and smoker and I think I have the right to decide if I may smoke. Please list the ban on cigarettes. People are going to loot etc to get cigarettes.

Cassandra Mertsch (East london, 2020-04-15)

#3671

I am signing as the extension has made me run short, and considering both this is much income for smaller businesses that is selling them, it might be the most income they will be getting during this period and will assist having to pay their staff atleast

Hannes Strauss (Cape Town, 2020-04-15)

#3676

I agree with what has been said. As it is a domestic violence waiting to happen for those with withdrawal symptoms.

Melody Grobbelaar (Empangeni, 2020-04-15)

#3685

I'm a smoker NOT A CHILD

Patti Alexander (Gauteng, 2020-04-15)

#3686

My cigarette smoking is a constitutional right. I am not smoking in the streets or in the shopping centres. I smoke at home, which should not affect anybody. There appears to be no reason whatsoever for the ban and many of us were not informed.

Sharon Tarin (Vanderbijlpark, 2020-04-15)

#3687

The ban is not rational or reasonable

Phillip Martin (Durban, 2020-04-15)

#3688

Smoking relaxes the mind and vaping is a healthier alternative to stop people smoking now open Vape shops rather

Jenny Pereira (GAUTENG, 2020-04-15)

#3689

Smoking in my own home does not harm or put anyone else at risk.

Wesley Wade (Cape Town, 2020-04-15)

#3690

I need to smoke its a stressful time and not smoking is making it worse and im alone with my two little girls and you cant just take something away if its been there so long everything is worse just bring back cigarettes please its not hurting anyone its just spiteful and mean for doing it please lift the ban..:

Marianne Coetzee (Midrand, 2020-04-15)

#3692

I am stressed and if I had to buy cigarettes that will make me a criminal. I just need a smoke so that I can have peace of mind.

Amber Jooste (ladySmith, 2020-04-15)

#3694

The points made in the petition are salient

john oosthuizen (Poert elizabeth, 2020-04-16)

#3696

We did not panic buy so did not buy enough for the extention please allow us to purchase more

Monique Kruger (Centurion, 2020-04-16)

#3697

I am a smoker for the past 34 years, I will buy cigarettes on the black market if I have to. The government is busy turning smokers into criminals

Connie Smit (Mbomela, 2020-04-16)

#3699

I'm signing this partition because, as a smoker, withdrawal of nicotine will have an adverse effect, not only on my physical well being, but on my mental and emotional health as well. Whilst I agree that alcohol should banned, cigarettes cannot be classed in the same category as alcohol, as smoking a cigarette does not lead to bad behaviour, impaired judgement or physical and mental abuse of others to name a few. For my own sanity (and those living in the lockdown with me) I respectfully request the ban on the sale of cigarettes be lifted.

Luana Croucamp (Johannesburg, 2020-04-16)

#3700

Black market charging up to R200 a packet, how much money is SARS losing?

Richard Webb (Roodepoort, 2020-04-16)

#3701

I'm a smoker

Elaine Horwitz (Benoni, 2020-04-16)

#3703

Because I believe that forcing people to go through withdrawal and prohibition will result in an increase in domestic violence. Especially in poorer communities.
I quit smoking many years ago and know that it’s not a pleasant thing to go through.

Robert Robyn (Cape Tiwn, 2020-04-16)

#3704

I have been smoking for many years and even if I could stop now, it is already too late. I tried it once years ago and became aggressive, obese and had health problems which I never had before. So please, I am begging you. Lift the cigarette ban. Out of desperation we have already heard of people selling it and rather than getting it illigally like drugs we would much rather buy it legally knowing that it will in the end benefit all. Thank you🙏

Pam Van vuuren (Secunda, 2020-04-16)

#3705

Im a smoker need to buy to be able to buy them

Jaco Grobler (Secunda, 2020-04-16)

#3706

I think it is unconstitutional to put a ban on smoking

Cathy Cavanagh (Durban, 2020-04-16)

#3709

I’ve been a smoker for many years , and now to expect to just go cold turkey is ridiculous, beside that cigarette, don’t impair judgements ,alcohol does ,so please bring back the sale of tabaco

Judith Van Rooyen (Cape Town, 2020-04-16)

#3712

I agree. One cannot jus quit cold turkey because you want it that way. There are withdrawal and health issues that come along with giving up cigarettes...thats why there is usually aids during this process.Besides it has to be my choice to do so.Do you know how agitated and snappy one gets when they dont hav that "fix"?You do not have to bear the brunt of this but the families that are stuck with a person going through this has to!!Besides are things like coffee, chocolate, coca cola, etc essential....these people are able to get their "fixes"easily....while we are to suffer.Think about it...there are lots of things that people are addicted to and need to have to cope day to day.How fair is it that we cannot have this "fix" and they can have theirs.

Anthony Gielink (Durban, 2020-04-16)

#3714

the ban on selling cigarettes has no scientific proof that it wil or can reduce the spread of covid19 virus.

gustav voogt (pretoria, 2020-04-16)

#3715

I am cross with the short notice of cigarette ban

Mark Marshall (Randburg, 2020-04-16)

#3719

I am a smoker

Riaan Engelbrecht (Cape Town, 2020-04-16)

#3721

The ban on cigarette sales serves NO purpous. Buying a pack of cigarettes along with your bread and milk at the same store in no way increases your risk of exposure to COVID- 19. All this ban acchieves is to torture smokers having to go through withdrawal on top of al the stress currently felt throughout the Country. There has been a sharp increase in domestic violence and is turning normally law abiding citizens into criminals as they are now searching for illegal cigarettes the trade in which is sharply rising. All this while government is further sinking our already struggling economy by removing a much needed R1.5 billion a month from the fiscus. With no valid reason as to why this is necessary. The argument that cigarettes are not esential goods also does not hold up because it is a lot more esential to a great many more people than chocolates or Coke ever will be!

Michelle Verwey (Pretoria, 2020-04-16)

#3722

It is every person's in South Africa's right to buy cigarettes if they wish. If you need to go to a shop to get food and they usually sell cigarettes then it makes no sense to not be able to buy cigarettes. Sugar and products with sugar are as addictive but sugar products have not been excluded. It will make people a lot more angry to be forced to be in lockdown if they cannot buy cigarettes as part of their normal routine

Nikki Harris (Knysna, 2020-04-16)

#3724

I am a smoker

DEREK TIMOTHY (Dbn, 2020-04-16)

#3726

There is no way i can go without smoking for so long. We will have to resort to going out during the lockdown to find cigarette illegaly. I do not see why the sale of cigarettes are banned as this is an essential item for smokers.

Kevin Tobias (Johannesburg, 2020-04-16)

#3729

I am going through withdrawal symptoms and my family is suffering for it... I yell at them and is constantly irritated... It is total nonsense! We are the only country in the world that has a ban on cigarette's during the lock-down... or should I say cunt-ry....???

Danielle Pieterse (9301, 2020-04-16)

#3736

I'm signing because 1. It is costing the country dearly from a fiscal perspective and 2. It is wrong to tell 11million smokers that they cannot smoke. What does smoking got to do with the virus. 3. When people go and buy their groceries, what is it going to do to go and add your cigarettes to your shopping cart. 4. I hope when more South Africans go out of business because cigarettes sales have been banned, that Bheki Cele will be ready to give everyone a job. Thanks.

Ignatius De Vries (Johannesburg, 2020-04-17)

#3737

I’m signing the petition because how can you expect people whom smoke more than 50 years to instantly stop. This is redicilous. Smoking helps people if they do not have food for the hunger. I do understand alcohol, but if you leave smokers without cigarettes you can leave people without medicine as well. Either one is not a good reaction

Elrika Rossouw (Gauteng, 2020-04-17)

#3738

i am signing to lift the ban of cigarettes, as I am a smoker and dependant on nicotine, and i also agree that with withdrawal symptoms, I can be very aggressive. and this is provoking not only myself but other smokers to find illegal ways to fill the cravings out government is pushing us to do illegal activities.

Don naidu (roodepoort, 2020-04-17)

#3740

Its the right thing to do

Mario Viljoen (Bloemfontein, 2020-04-17)

#3744

I'm signing because this is bullshit!!

You can not take away people's sigarettes!
Some people can day without them!
And that is a medical opinion from the doctor!!!

Aneshka Botes (Kriel, 2020-04-17)

#3745

My bois need cigarettes as they going crazy and not only cigarettes vaping as well

Bjorn Blewitt (Kosmos, 2020-04-17)

#3747

Dis my reg om the mag rook.

Deon Rheeder (Bloemfontein, 2020-04-17)

#3752

I'm signing to lift ban on cigarettes

Jesse Bauer (Durban, 2020-04-17)

#3755

I want to smoke.

Christo Pike (Hartswater, 2020-04-17)

#3756

I am a smoker and currently suffering from bad withdrawls, with terrible mood swings

Annalize Nel (Ladismith, 2020-04-17)

#3760

This ban is removing our right to choose! AND puts us all in danger of getting sick more quickly, rising anger levels which can lead to violence, rising desperation leading to illegal activity. This ban is ludicrous, we smoke at our own risk, no one elses! Freedom of choice should never be taken away.

Nichola van Niekerk (Centurion, 2020-04-17)

#3762

This is against your human rights

Jacqualine Du plessis (Alberton, 2020-04-17)

#3768

Please

Rika van der Merwe (Witbank, 2020-04-17)

#3772

I need a smoke urgently

Christa Bothma (Johannesburg, 2020-04-17)

#3773

I see people selling drugs and involved in criminal activities all around, but having something that's legal is a problem affecting millions of law abiding citizens. I feel the law to be unjust and the ban needs to be reconsidered as criminals only benefit in this situation.

John Doe (gauteng, 2020-04-17)

#3775

The ban on cigarettes is ludicrous.

Sarah Train (Durbanille, 2020-04-18)

#3781

Dit is net so belaglik soos die drank

Ale De bruin (Bloemfontein, 2020-04-18)

#3782

Nicotine withdrawal is serious and this ban is unnecessary

Debbie Champion (Boksburg, 2020-04-18)

#3785

I'm signing because I'm a smoker, and I do not feel that my smoking will impact the health services of South Africa. It does however negatively impact the economy and promotes the illegal trade of tobacco products. It also has a negative influence on the financial wellbeing of companies and shops that sell sigarettes. People will also now drive greater distances than they usually do, in order to look for shops willing to sell them tobacco products.

Joey Kruger (Pretoria, 2020-04-18)

#3786

I need to smoke and I don't think you as government can take that right away from me especially in a time of crisis.

Wendy Hayward (Komatipoort, 2020-04-18)

#3788

It is the most stupid thing any government would do. Locking us up taking away our stress reliever

Adrianna Katsulis (Randburg, 2020-04-18)

#3789

We need it in this time stressing

Aljoma Du Toit (Gansbaai, 2020-04-18)

#3791

I vape daily and it helps keep me calm as I battle with anxiety and stress.

Candice Rijavec (Fourways, 2020-04-18)

#3792

I'm on day 3 of withdrawal and it feels like I'm being tortured... All I want to do is cry😭 I want a cigarette!

Talita Van Der Westhuizen (Alberton, 2020-04-18)

#3798

Need the cigarette ban to be lifted asap! Was prepared for two weeks lockdown and not 4!!!

Lezahn Hart (Boksburg, 2020-04-18)

#3799

I now need to work from home under pressurized job with house full of family members having a smoke every now and then brings my over stressed levels to a reasonable control of not becoming an awful bichy person towards loved ones who don't deserve that from me. Keeping my stress levels down makes a calmer house for every one
