I am a victim of rape who has been denied justice. To this day, I have received no answers from the police. The perpetrator escaped from their custody and now lives freely within the community. Where can we turn when those meant to protect us fail us so completely? My world remains shattered since that fateful day, the 18th of January. The pain is still raw, and I struggle to accept what happened.

If I, at 19 years old, cannot find a way to heal, what hope is there for a young child? What did we do to deserve this? I was raped in front of a 13-year-old child. It breaks my heart to know that people commit such atrocities and continue to live their lives without consequence. When we seek justice, we are met with silence. The man who violated me escaped under the watch of the police, and yet nothing has been done. He walks freely, while I am left to carry the weight of this trauma.
