I am 77 years old and worked very hard at my job for many years. My health is not great and I need to continue seeing my specialists. I find it difficult to make ends meet now and with the new plan the costs would be even higher. We were guaranteed a particular health plan when we joined the union and can't understand how it can change mid-stream.martha tardibuono (high falls, ny, 2022-03-14)

Completely satisfied with my current insurance and service providers. The option of my current healthcare benefits I thought was guaranteed when I signed up to work for the city for 41 years.

I spent 34 years teaching the children of NYC. Believe me, it wasn't for the salary. The promise of free health care at retirement helped to encourage me to stay as long as I did. Taking it away, limiting my choices or benefits is a slap in the face for the loyalty I've shown to NYC.PATRICIA PAN (SUNNYSIDE, NY, 2022-03-14)

I am signing because like many of you, we agreed to zero raises or minimum raises in exchange for our health benefits. The benefits were promised to us for life. This is turning your back on so many. Think of those who have been retired for many years and those who retired from low paying positions, and can not afford to opt out.Matt Bromme (Brooklyn, 2022-03-14)

I WORKED FOR 45 YEARS. I WAS PROMISED AND ASSURED NO CHANGES IN HEALTH CARE. I CANT AFFIRD ANY EXTRA PREMIUMS, LET ALONE ILL-INFORMED INDIVIDUALS WITH NO MEDICAL EDUCATION TO DECIDE MY HEALTH COVERAGE.MAYOR ADAMS, YOU ARE IN THE SAME PREDICAMENT. DO NOT APPEAL THE COURTS RULING!!!!!!!
LET US KEEP THE INSURANCES WE HAVE AND NOT BE FORCED INTO A DEAL WITH THE CORRUPT ALLIANCE GROUP!!!!!!!! THEY HAVE ALREADY STOLEN HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS FROM MEDICARE!!!!!!

I am a senior who worked for the BOE for 30 years. My husband worked at a suburban school at a much higher salary, but with an inferior health plan. His pension is much higher and now his health insurance is better. My husband has passed on and I have a neurological disease. At this point I cannot start looking for new doctors or wait for pre authorizations.
I spent my youth and middle age dedicated to the City. Don’t “throw me (and other retirees) under the bus.”

When I retired, CONTRACTUALLY, I was ENROLLED in Medicare and a Supplement.I and many others feel that the City of NY should honor that agreement.

I’m signing this petition because this proposed plan diminishes my access to medical care. My current healthcare providers will not accept MAP and it will impact our Medicare coverage.William Flynn (Leland, 2022-03-14)

I have been so upset about the proposed changes to my health plan. These changes to a Medicare Advantage Plus Plan will seriously impact the fixed income on which I live. I have health issues that require tests that I do not want to see denied due to insurance company decisions.Clifford Malat (NYC, 2022-03-14)

I want the mayor to honor the commitment made to us regarding Senior Care. Retirees are entitled to excellent medical care that cannot be gotten with MAPP. We worked for less when the city needed us to. We were promised the Senior care type coverage then. We worked for this. We earned this.Jane Weiss (Tarrytown, 2022-03-14)

I'm signing because as a former government employee I want to keep original Medicare and not lose my current health benefits. As a person who worked in the public sector for 30 years, I feel it is wrong to put us in the position of having to choose an inferior, PRIVATE, free health plan like Medical AdvantageGale Lichter (New York, 2022-03-14)

This is an inferior plan to what I retired with and was promised for my retirement years. Underlying conditions necessitate many tests during the year. Getting oks for each test would not be viable. I would be unable to wait and am frightened that they would not be approved. My present drs. Are not necessarily taking the new plan. Too many unknowns and much misinformation.Sanford friedland (White plains, 2022-03-14)

I am signing because my husband worked for City of NY for almost 30 years and took less pay because he was told that in exchange he would keep the healthcare plan he had for life, after he retired. We are now both 70+ years old on limited incomes and my husband has serious health issues and cannot risk changing cardiologists and spinal specialists. By forcing us to now pay $400/month to keep GHI you are putting huge financial pressure on us, but we have no choice as if he had an advantage plan, he would be dead now as waiting for reapproval's whilst he had 99% blockage in his heart would have killed him Due to abandon the contract NYC retirees worked under for decades. Stop the erosion of our healthcare benefits. Do the right thing - do what is morally right for current retires.Erica Felman (Verona, 2022-03-14)

The NYC Medicare Plus is risky where I live. It took years to get the Emblem Plan accepted. This is a dice roll again. There is no need to introduce uncertainty where none is required.“Silver sneakers” is a meaningless term. I am a NYC retiree not living in NYC. I am provided a lesser plan as a consequence of residence.
The contrived fee totally lacking empiricism is intended to leverage my participation to accept the proposed plan. NYC is using an economic gun to my head, the way the allied nations are doing to Russia. The monthly charge is a BIG FAT UNSUBSTATIATED LIE lacking relevance and substance.
The abusive treatment of retirees by NYC tells me to expect poor decisions from the administrator lackeys who will get performance gelt by squeezing the retirees.
Abuse the next generation of retirees if that is your intent. Grandfather in the current retirees into the existing plan. Leave well enough alone.
Bloomberg took care of the retirees. Nothing changed. This is a made up need to squeeze more money from the retirees.
I suspect the plan is on the career path of Mayor de Blasio. He will have had an undisclosed conflict of interest invalidating his decision. Future mayors, comptrollers, etc. need to be barred from employment in these types of arrangements.
