It’s one of the most beautiful scenic golf courses in the UK and will be such a loss as a community asset especially with other sports now being detrimented due to the pandemicMatthew Williams (cheltenham, 2020-09-26)

We must not underestimate the importance of Cleeve Hill to those new the the game. It's open fairways are forgiving and the cost of golf is well priced for those beginning their golf journey.Cleeve Hill is a golfing institution and every effort should be made to keep it open and creativity is required to find a solution that works for all.
If this is not achieved, it will be a very sad day for the golfing community across several counties.

This was where I learned to play golf in a beautiful setting. Can't think of anywhere that matches the views from 17th tee...the cold foggy mornings on the first tee waiting for your ball to be in the front of the chute..Dave Finch and his dodgy sense of humour!! If this course closes it would be a travesty! Golf courses are experiencing better times, post COVID. Market the course and capitalise on the surge in interest, dont take away another facility!Craig Furlong (Aylesbury, 2020-09-26)

These historic courses need to be saved for current and future players. Everyone starts on pay and play courses and it would be a huge loss for this course to close. My son the current English county champion of champions started playing on our local municipal and it certainly gave him a good grounding in the game and it’s etiquette.Nicholas Burden (Portsmouth , 2020-09-26)

This course needs to be retained for universal use. It is one of the unique inland links courses in the country and needs to be developed into a better course and club house rather than shut. This will enhance the locality for perpetuity and in turn enable the intrinsic qualities of the special site to be protected and developed better at the same timePaula smith (Cheltenham, 2020-09-26)

It is unimaginable that a golf course of such beauty and history would eve4n be considered to close down. Any course designed by Old Tom Morris should be an absolute sacred piece of art and a treasure for generations to enjoy.Golf is at an early stage of a renaissance and just because there may be a financial rough patch does not mean the same course cannot thrive in a short while if the right practices are put into place. I group of us in Oceanside California were in the same predicament with our local public course which had been around since 1952 (not quite 1891 but by American standards that is an old course). The same thing was happening, it was 2009 and California was in a drought situation so water cost was a huge factor, we were in the midst of a recession and the course was losing money. Even though this particular land was zoned to be public recreation use through a municipality (unless it were to go to a vote of the people to be over changed) the local council determined that the land should be developed for commercial use and put out a RFP (request for proposal) Many developers came forward with plans to build strip malls and condos. Our group came forward with a benevolent plan to 'SAVE GOAT HILL PARK' fix it up, put in a new3 irrigation system using reclaim water and also put in a lot of love. We took it over July 1st 2014, the first two years we lost some money but were able to withstand the deficit the next 2 years we broke even and the past two years we've been in the black with rounds increasing every year. And every year we continue to improve the course, facility and experience where we are able. It has been a labor of love but I cannot think off anything more rewarding in this day and age than to give back to the community in the form of an outdoor recreation that serves as an escape from the social media onslaught that is crippling the world in from of our very eyes. Golf needs to be available for all generations to have a common ground for socializing in nature and at the forefront of social change. The Cleeve Hill Golf Course needs to be saved! Has anyone contacted the R&A? I wouldn't think they could stand by and watch an Old Tom Morris deigned golf course go by the wayside...Blows my mind! Anyway I can help I will, actually been there done that. Good luck and keep me posted

Cleeve Hill is a historic golf course with the potential to serve both local and international golfers with easily accessible and affordable golf of architectural significance. In other countries such diverse and inspiring golf courses do not exist and where they do, they are highly exclusive and/or expensive. Cleeve Hill is a bastion for the kind of accessible yet highly inspiring golf which makes the UK golf landscape the very best in the world. To lose Cleeve Hill would not only be a blow to the people of Cheltenham and the architectural community, it would also be a huge step backwards in the movement to ensure quality golf course architecture can be accessed and enjoyed by all.Harry Cloke (London, 2020-09-29)
