We have lived in Kosmos for 25 years, and have watched a steady decline in services, especially water leaks and access, while our rates have shown an equally steady increase. We are currently paying R18,000 per year. People move into the village and act with impunity because to them it appears that there are zero regulations due to the neglected streets, pavements and public spaces. They therefore turn boathouses into double storey monstrosities, or extend their walls into the street boundaries.In front of our property, water has been leaking from a burst pipe for over 5 years. It has been fixed countless times and is left for residents to close up. Within weeks it starts leaking again, so that it is now a permanent water feature where frogs thrive.

We are being advertised as the Jewel of the North West to tourists. Just a pity that the very same tourists who are suppose to visit our area needs to travel on gravel roads with patches of tar. Lack of water and electricity will not bring them back to our area . The residents are seen as the goose that lays the golden eggs, but the Municipality do not look after the goose and no money is spend on the area.
