Protect North Central Park from Major Development

I love North Central Park and want to see more trees in it, not more buildings.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#3

build elsewhere! Keep our parks free of unnecessary construction.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

I feel that any kind of museum does not belong in a park. We don’t have parks, or green space, to begin with...keeping, and bettering, the park should be the priority not make it a concrete jungle with a puddle in the middle.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

I am very thankful for the huge risk and sacrifice taken up by all our local veterans. I deeply believe they need a museum dedicated to themselves so visitors can have a better understanding of what all veterans went through. But I also believe that our local families need an outdoor place where they can take their children to enjoy the natural beauty that NCP has to offer. Traffic in that area is heavy enough already with the park itself. Many adults and children walk, run, and cycle in this area. Keep it for what it was intended. Laredo has other locations available for museum purposes that can be better suited than destroying precious green space.

I have so much respect for all those who have served and sacrificed for our great country. However, I do not think that a park is the appropriate location for a museum honoring our veterans. I think the base or civic center would serve for a better location for the museum.

I'm signing because I love north central park just how it is!!! Lets make it green again first

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

We as a community need to protect our environment and make this a priority. There is a defecit of park area in this entire City. Slapping more concrete down is not a solution.
The City should find a different location for this museum to honor our Veterans. The City needs to take into account existing buildings that they already own which will in turn reduce the cost of this museum.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#42

You could have that veterans museum located on the land next to Jacaman and Bartlett. Lots of land owned by the city.... keep the park as a park.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#50

I really believe that the land could be used for more trees or park areas. I hope they move the museum to some other location.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#57

Parks don't need buildings. They're parks.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#60

Parks are green spaces not for building.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#65

I believe the museum would better serve the community at the old air base.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#76

I believe the park should remain as green as possible. One project will eventually lead to another. I believe we have other areas of town that are more beneficial to a veterans museum.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#77

It’s wrong to use a park when there are so many available historical buildings in our city.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#81

They need to keep that entire park intact. Its one of the nicest places in Laredo. Laredo needs to be adding to its outdoor leisure acreage, not subtracting from.

(San Antonio, 2017-10-13)

#83

To Keep green spaces alive

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#84

This is not right!

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#87

Keep NCP green!!!✌️

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#92

I don't want of the few (maybe only) natural park spaces Laredo has, to be developed with large out of place infrastructure. This is not an appropriate space for the museum.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#93

I oppose the further encroachment into our green spaces that are the hallmark of North Central Park.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#96

This park is beautiful as is and should not be altered when there are obvious other locations that can be users

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#100

It's a beautiful park and i'd hate to see it ruined.

(laredo, 2017-10-13)

#101

Opening the park to development sets a dangerous precedent. I've been to this area of the park, and it is underused. However, putting a veterans museum here is a disservice to both veterans and ordinary citizens alike. If we wanted to highlight the service of veterans, we wouldn't just shove it into the corner of a park where hardly anyone will notice.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#103

I want the Museum and Green park!

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#104

I want to keep green areas such as North Central Park intact. It is the one of not many places to get fresh air and great space to relax

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#109

I love the park with it's nature surrounding it. Best spot to jog and clear my mind. That construction will ruin the area. Laredo needs more nature in it than it being destroyed by some building that can be built somewhere else.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#114

There is not enough park land in Laredo....if the old air force base is not in use, then that is a good re-purposing of the land.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#115

I respect veterans very much. And military servicemen and servicewomen. I respect the national guard and th coastal guard.
Let us honor them respectectfully. A public park is ok if you create a veterans park. Be wise and not frugal.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#117

We need to keep laredo's fee parks intact and untouched by development. Thousands of people use North central park and having this will limit more space for activities.

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#118

North Central part is essentially the foundation for wildlife to thrive. It is an area where most people take advantage of the beauty of nature exercise as well as engaging in environmentally friendly family activities. This destruction of land will only disrupt any wildlife's territory and force it to survive and fight for a new territory. Veterans deserve recognition but this is not the ideal place for it. Preserving as much of nature as possible, especially for Laredo, is important in order to "Keep Laredo Beautiful." As a Laredo student, a citizen, and a museum buff, this museum could be rethought of and locating it in our historical unused districts. Revive the historical district by putting in historical images, and commemorative objects that will have people be proud of once more. LCC's north campus was once a fort and perhaps this could be a perfect place to use as a commemorative place instead of building unnecessary warehouses that won't stain the community or nature. The city council's greed blinds them from any knowledge towards nature and this marks one of the many dangerous paths to losing more of our natural habitats and wildlife.

(Lared, 2017-10-13)

#127

I have a deep admiration for how North Central Park is.

(laredo, 2017-10-13)

#129

if u take down north central, you're a*****head

(Laredo, 2017-10-13)

#130

I was born and raised in Laredo, and North Central Park holds many memories from my preteen and teenage years. The park provides a great landscape for hanging out with friends and family, taking photos, playing sports, and simply enjoying nature. Leave the park alone, don't tarnish one of Laredo's great recreational resources!

(Austin, 2017-10-13)

#135

I love this park.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#138

I completely love the fact for a veteran museum someshere else not and the parm where is one of the only places we get to see pure nature.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#152

Why.. ? It's going to be another abandoned facility, keep the land the way it is there's no fun in having a random building in an area that has a nice pond and trees worry more about bringing a new skate park back in Father Charles McNoboe park

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#161

Que awiwis!!

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#164

very unnecessary and unneeded, protect North Central

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#165

I want to help reserve North Central Park, and I don't believe that North Central would be the best location for what they want to build.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#167

I love this park and I love how in contact it is to nature

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#169

Find a better location for the museum

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#171

This park should be for people to see the beauty of natural life.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#176

There is another place to put that in what way does a veteran museum need to be put in the park. NO

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#179

I am signing this to help protect our city's wildlife and habitat. We do not have a right to invade their homes when there are more areas that can be explored.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#180

Please let us keep the little green that we have in this city!

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#182

It is important for us to preserve our nature and its beauty not only for future generations but for the benefit of our city.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#189

These animals need their habitat. Can't continue to clear up spaces and leave builings halfway created.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#190

The park is not a place for museums. I respect the veterans (my mother is still serving), but Laredo has few parks like this. Build the museum somewhere else. Trees are important. Parks are important.

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#194

No! We enjoy our natural park land!!! Look somewhere else!!!

(Laredo, 2017-10-14)

#196

I am signing this petition because we need to save our green space and parkland, not build more buildings at the nicest park we have in Laredo.

(Laredo, 2017-10-15)

#198

Green is hard to come by in Laredo

(Laredo, 2017-10-15)

#199

A museum for veterans is better suited for an appropriate facility at LCC (the former Fort Macintosh) or the airport (the former Laredo AFB).

(Laredo, 2017-10-15)

#200

I want to see more trees.

(Laredo, 2017-10-15)
