Save Ferry County 4-H

4-H was designed to connect kids to resources in agriculture, animal husbandry, public speaking, sewing, baking, technology, engineering, robotics and public service. This only scratches the surface of what 4-H about. The ferry county commissioners have chosen to terminate the contract with the WSU extension office Which effectively terminates the 4-H program in Ferry County. This program has helped countless youth across our nation, including myself and my sister who are local school teachers. This petition is to inform our commissioners that the county wants to keep the 4-H program intact so that our students, and children can benefit from it. Removing this program will take away an opportunity from already underserved youth. 4-H is inexpensive and relies on volunteers to run the clubs themselves. Often time those volunteers provide many of the resources needed, including land, and livestock for kids to participate in these programs. Additionally, four provides many opportunities outside of projects that require land and livestock for students to be able to participate, who simply can't afford to. the purpose of this petition is to inform The fairy county commissioners, that the loss of this program is unacceptable to their constituents. We are asking them with respect to find a way to solve this problem and move forward with 4-H intact.
