You also probably get to go to the bathroom when you want to, eat for more than 20 minutes a day, see other adults for more than 5 minutes, are paid based on your performance and dont' individually meet the needs of hundreds of children a day.......or maybe you do. |

That time off in the summer? Unpaid. Christmas Day? Unpaid. Spring break? Unpaid. I use my breaks to plan for the next six weeks, complete professional learning and rejuvante. Teachers work hard, are underpaid for the education they have earned and are underappreciated in our society. Fine. I can live with that. But please take my professional opinion that the balanced calendar is working for our children. They are achieving more academically and I can prove it with the data from my classroom. |
