This is not good news - and if planning application for a huge 66-bed care home (M/80/19/PL) on the site of Yapton Road Poultry Farm is granted, the traffic situation will worsen considerably. Vehicles used by staff and support services, delivery and refuse lorries as well as medical staff, ambulances and even hearses will be putting enormous additional strain on Comet Corner and the narrow and winding Yapton Rd. To even consider adding all this extra traffic across several notorious and well established accident spots is quite frankly madness. A roundabout, temporary or permanent, and a new access road from the A259 to any development site will need to be in place to before any construction takes place. Middleton Parish Council voted against the care home. Arun District Council is supposed to vote on the care home application in early Feb. 2020. West Sussex District Council sold the land to a big developer (Frontier Estates). This developer now owns the land outright, and will obviously want to capitalise on the site. All very worrying.
