Protesting so our thoughts on the new tower are heard
2023-11-07 21:27:34As you are aware we have been unsuccesful in getting Spark to move their proposed new cellphone tower on Purangi Road to another location, away from homes. Spark plan to erect a 14m cell tower by the entrance to Resolution Rise. We feel this position is too visible and it would be better sighted in a place with less visual impact. The site intended is also a school bus pick up / drop off point...who would want there children waiting for their bus right next to a large cell tower?
We have tried several times to discuss alternatives with Spark and Connexa but they are just not interested in meeting with the community. Under recent legislation, they basically have the right to put a cell tower wherever they like regardless of local feelings. Our only option now is to protest when they start work. If you would be keen to support us in this and make a stand against this corporate bullying, please send your mobile number to Sarah Matheson on 0274 877 682 with your name and we will text you when the tower starts to be installed so we can make our stance known.
Thank you again for signing this petition and your support.

Rate Payers Association Meeting
2023-06-11 22:28:00We have asked for this issue to be added to the agenda for the next Rate Payers Association meeting to which Scott Simpson will also attend. The more of us that can go the better.
The details are:
Meeting Date and Time - 7/7/2023 12 pm to 2 pm
Venue - Cooks Beach Hall
Otherwise things remain very quiet from Connexa and the Council. There are discussions around the bus stop. There remain three land owners that have offered land for the tower to which we are hugely grateful. Connexa remain steadfast that they can not use any options. We are yet to hear from Connexa on a time to meet the community and hear our concerns face to face rather than by email.
Thanks again for your support and submissions.
